I just got a new Acer laptop with Windows 7 a week ago. Cost a touch over $500 and I am in love with it right now. 15.6" screen, 2 GHz dual core processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive and a dedicated graphics card. Still though, I miss Halo 2's follow through Double Kill, Triple Kill, Killtacular. Those moments were great for Team Slayer, Team Skirmish, Big Team Battle, etc. - in Halo 3 they went even further, but "overkill" is meh, and those other moments they expanded upon were basically heard for moments in Grifball. -_-

Maybe someone mentioned it already, but the fact that the DMR and the Magnum pretty much "locked in" at this point and that Luke and Eric dig them so much is good news. SUPER good news.

I'm still super paranoid about them both existing side by side until I hear the pistol isn't just a poor man's DMR. If Reach's MP is set up like 3's I can easily see the default gametypes being AR/pistol starts, I can't see any other reason someone would ever use/pick up the pistol. I am actually convinced at this point that the weapon starts will be AR + Magnum. The DMR will be a power weapon in the Shotgun tier.EazyB said:

AR + Magnum starts just sound like I am never going to use the Magnum. Assuming can burst fire pretty well with this new AR, can't really see why I would switch over to the Magnum. Maybe if target is close and no shielded or clip on AR runs out, then again I would just Melee if they were close enough. I don't know, want to see how the Magnum really fits into the sandbox. The Beta can't come soon enough.

Regarding the pistol from the Bungie Podcast
"The pistol as it currently stands is not on caliber with the DMR and some of the other weapons... certainly viable as a combat tool against other opponents with other weapons... again it depends on where you are... if you have a drop on the guy with the AR... it falls somewhere between the Halo1 super pistol and ????...it is going to have zoom... it will be a head shot weapon and it will be relatively powerful... won't be as accurate as the ODST pistol... will require some skill... not a spray weapon..."

I think my feelings are similar to EazyB in that if the pistol isn't as powerful as the DMR and not as effective close up like the AR, what's the point of having it? Or EazyB may have just been referring to starting weapon combinations.
What is Bungie's opposition to the pistol anyway? I'm not trying to start a war or yell at anyone. I'm just curious, because the pistol has never been the same since Halo:CE and there is no question that the pistol was the star of the game, end-of-story, good-bye, the-end. A lot of people loved it and a lot of people want it back. Would it have been so drastic to remove the DMR and instead insert the pistol? And obviously I'm not talking about weapon realism or anything like that. I'm talking about, so you have a medium to long range weapon that is pretty powerful like the DMR, and then you insert the pistol skin instead (even though this is not what i really want). I just don't see why it would be a problem. If the pistol was too poweful in Halo:CE (which is what most of the opposition claimed), then what is the DMR? If the DMR is not too powerful, then why not switch it with the pistol for nostalgia sake? I guess that would be too easy and things always have to be hard. Anyway.
If the DMR is the closest thing to what the old pistol was in Halo:CE, I'm gonna use the DMR and scratch my butt with the pistol. So why include it? I need to get my hands on it to really know what is going on. May is so far away... Though I am encouraged that Luke and other people like it.

Yeah. Forgot to mention last night that Urk and Luke liking the new pistol is good to hear. Can't wait to try it out, and because of what we read about the pistol, I can definitely see the default spawning weapons will be the AR + pistol.Mr Vociferous said:
