Do I even need to go find an ODST picture for comparison?

He said "Even the parts ONI didn't want me to", which I liked. Hopefully hinting at ONI having a big part in the story of this game.

I would LOVE a Mass Effect style Halo Universe RPG where you played an ONI agent. That would be bad ass.

You're right, it's not on the same level as Army of Two, but any step in that direction is a departure from what has been traditionally done in the Halo universe.
Avery J. Johnson: Dear Humanity; we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!

Soldiers: Ooh-rah!

What's your point? He's not a Spartan.

i dont think the faces are bad at all... reminds me of UE3 faces (gears-ish), which is certainly above average for this gen.

Thank you :lol :lol

Dare had such an awful face. It's hilariously bad. And she was supposed to be a love interest :lol

I don't think they're bad, but I can understand the complaints. The girl looks a lot better than General Generic, but they're both a huge step up from what the series has previously had.

Yeah, just the one kid. He ain't much, but he's got a sweet hat. I'll probably send him some Bungie socks for Christmas.

Im a sucker for free stuff, next big reveal I record a clip of myself so I can get in on that Bungie sock action :)

Then again... wouldn't look to good for the rest of my life if such a movie exists on the interwebs.... but Steve Ballmer might disagree.

Military bravado is pretty brazen in the games.

I also recall some of the Spartans boasting about their abilities in the two books I read (Fall of Reach and the one set immediately after Halo:CE). My perception's always been that Master Chief was the only (largely) robotic one, and the rest have some measure of personality. Even the dude that got offed when taking out the ship in FoR had insecurities or whatnot. If the games stuck tightly to the books, that female character would look a hell of a lot more mannish.

Also, you're reading far too much into something largely unimportant and minor from an incredibly short and bland trailer.

Maybe all the excitement is getting to me in a way I didn't anticipate, but she has quite attractive eyes.

Jesus fecking christ, dude poses like a Power Ranger. :lol

Edit: The guy with no helmet is (I think) called Carter? Can't quite make out the numbers, might be a 259 or 253 but that seems too high lore wise, no? Should probably get my eyes tested in either case.

I thought it looked extremely well considering it looks like it's going to retain the big levels like the past Halo's. Most of the games this gen that look gorgeous are in small levels...

Mass Effect is not even coming close to doing all of the stuff Halo 3 was in single player, how can anyone expect that type of facial detail in a massive FPS compared to walking around a city hub?

Being I was watching this in HD the first thing I noticed as far as upgrade besides the environmental detail was definitely the facial work. It ain't the best but it is a serious upgrade from the likes of ODST and before.

In Halo: Evolutions, they have a two man team of Spartans who joke around most of the story, taunt the Covies before/during combat, and generally brag about how bad-ass they are. Pretty great short story!

Is the absence of the classic Halo theme(or some play on it) suppose to signify a shift from the first 3 games, or did they just decide to skip it? Not even a piano note thing.

You are short and bland! HA!

But I also expected a little more gameplay (didn't really pay F5 attention to the news about the trailer). It did satisfy my hunger for the most part.

Looked great.

Although what I really would have liked is if they ended the trailer with a first person prespective as you will play, in game, no cutscene, just 2 seconds.

Only the final game will tell what direction they go in, but things like the armour painting and music aren't leaving the best first impression.

The music is particularly disappointing after ODST.

Marty said he wanted to get away from the old themes with ODST, and he may just be sticking to that again with Reach to develop new themes.

Yeah, graphically I couldn't want more from a cinematic. If it looks anything like this in gameplay along with good IQ (720p, AA, and AF) I will be very impressed.

The lighting is spectacular. Just hope it's more dynamic than Halo 3's.

I thought the same thing at first, but after listening to it a few more times I really like it. It didn't blow me away like ODST's first trailer, but it's a good adrenaline-pumping theme.

There's some disgusting wax smear filter in the game. Is it the lighting or some post processing bullshit because they really need to get rid of it.

Finally someone notice this.

There isn't much FPS which looks really good in big levels with playable vehicles this gen...except Battlefield 2....what else?

I think this is where we'll just have to agree to disagree. Wasn't a big fan of ODST's music at all. The music in here seems vintage Halo with power riffs breaking off into an orchestra at the tail-end. I prefer it to the hub section bar that eventually got on my last nerve.

I missed the show, missed the youtube vids and would like to say thanks for the rapidshare links.

For those who confused Spartans with ODSTs, shame on you. The armors are not the same at all. I'll cut you some slack because of the similarities with some of the helmets.

When are we getting a high quality video of this from Bungie? I'm a bit let down because it didn't have that epic feel from the previous Halo reveal trailers but excited to see what the story is all about in this one. I need moar.

For the record, I agree with you on a certain level, I don't think ODST had the best music of the Halo games, but I thought it was a lot better then what I heard in the Reach trailer, hence the disappointment.
