Is that confirmed somewhere?

We can hardly wait. A tremendous amount of work went into this two and a half minute first look. Creative Director Marcus Lehto, and his Halo: Reach team knew it was gonna be a challenge to get it into fighting shape in just two months time, but they didn’t want your first look to be CG footage. You demand more from Bungie. So you’re getting a snippet of a cinematic.

I don't think that the graphics will be represented in the final game. its just too good(remember the First HALO 3 trailer).

Eh, the trailer worked for me because I wasn't really expecting much from it(or the game). I hope this one has a decent story, and they actually present it well. To me Bungie has always had an issue with how to present a story. Oh well, we'll see.

the myth series had amazing presentation, and still does to this day.

though something defiantly happened after the first halo...

We'll see. The difference here is this is an actual cinematic from the game, while the Halo 3 trailer was just that - a trailer, made a year and a half out before the game started coming together.

There's the gif I've been waiting for.

Yeah, i had a feeling that they are spartan III and not spartan II. That would explain the difference in their armor.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. III's were also know for adding shit to their armor when they can, since it was between the ODST power armor and MJOLNIR V and VI for durability.

The art direction in this game is amazing for the environments. It might not even be a joke if I said subtle beauty was back.

No, Master Chief was in space during the majority of The Battle of Reach.

Hm. Hope he makes an appearance, but lots of Spartans will make up for it if not. Couldn't bring myself to get interested in ODST.

You really think so? I disagree. It's nice looking, sure, but it's not really anything we haven't seen before.

For what it's worth, I thought ODST was the best Halo since the first game. Why not try it out? (or am I misunderstanding and did you play it but just not really enjoy it?)

That is an environment I want to play in. Please Bungie, I've wandered around enough grey hallways and repetitive corridors in Halo games to last me a lifetime. Open the Reach stages up a bit.
ThisX1000000 I'm thinking a level 10 times bigger than that one mission in ODST, the first one in the day time.. I can't remember the name!

I've only seen the clip once... Waiting for a HD version to pop up. Would watch it again on the DVR but the wife has laid claim to the TV after my two hours of hogging it for the VGA's.

My initial response is mixed... Graphics look amazing, and the environments in the distance had my jaw on the floor. My only concern is with the characters and story... Some of the armor was meh, especially the white paint on the one spartans helmet. I want some more time to dig through the video in HD...

They're SPARTAN-IIIs?
I'm starting to think they are. They're not as big as the other Spartan-IIs we've seen before and I remember Spartan-IIIs being characterized as being smaller in stature.

Then Bungie is pressing its luck with the game due in less than a year. I don't think there's any reason to doubt them as this is now well-understood hardware and software tech as we're well into the generation and Bungie has had plenty of time with two major releases on the system up to this point.

Yeah, and to be fair.. that original Halo3 video looks better than this.
Obviously need to see it in HD to 100% sure but that video was insane looking.

I have not tried it out. I will definitely do so sometime next year when I can pick it up for less (or maybe just to try and get in the Reach beta).

The first is still my favorite (followed by 3), so that's good to hear at least.

From the teaser trailer at E3 and seeing these Spartans, I still think this is a second class of Spartan II's. Only time will tell if my gut is right or wrong...

Can't be Spartan III's. All of the first batch, Alpha Company died in their operation to destroy a Covenant shipyard and the only surviving members of the Pegasi Delta op from Beta company were Tom and Lucy.

Gameplay-wise it's most similar to the first game, which I appreciated because I am a diehard fan of Halo 1. Going back to Halo 3 after playing ODST is a strange experience.

I'm going to speculate a little bit here but why does the Reach imagery show 5 Spartans instead of 6?

I got to thinking that maybe the Spartan that arrives in the Warthog is another "strong, silent type" and that the game will focus it's story on the other 5 Noble Team members primarily. Maybe that's the reason there's 5 silhouettes on that promotional image?

Your concern is understandable but wouldn't you be better served by contacting someone at 1up instead of "outing" this nefarious deed on NeoGAF?
