Dailies. Love it.

So perhaps I completely overlooked it, but was it explained how the "rank" system works? How do you advance your rank bar?
Win, get kills and assists and just overall play consistently well throughout a season, I think.

Wow. Really excited for this new system.

Also, the "Like Mike" challenge. That is fucking awesome. What's the Halo Reach equivalent to a dunk from the free throw line?

Michael-Jordan.jpg

Or how about a Buzzer Beater in the playoffs?

There should at least a Jordan like buzzer beater medal or challenge in Reach. Call it something like, "give the ball to mike" lol that'd be awesome.

I'm really excited for this player investment system. It looks like it'll keep me coming back to the campaign as well.
Only beat Halo 3's campaign once lolz

I will somewhat miss the 1-50 ranking system. That damn 50 always taunted me, could never get past 48 even after winning X amount of games in a row. :lol

:(

Many controllers were broken.

David Candland and Andrew Davis (with special guest star Noah Kaarbo earlier on). Primary Engineers are Brad Fish and Gareth Lough. All of these guys are awesome.

Tell them they're embarrassing everyone else in the industry right now. Palette, gradients and transparencies are all flawless.

Q3A did that in CTF when you killed the flag guy right before he capped it.

A medal or announcer comment like that would be cool.

Not possibly, definitely.

The Beta is but a taste, a sip from a beer cup.
You'll be doing kegstands this fall.
I'm loving this. :lol

Fine, then you can take vod to the face while the rest of us real men shotgun those pint cans of Guinness until we throw up and black out.

Who's with me!?
I don't think shotgunning Guinness is a good idea

Oh, that is a handsome screenshot. My new favorite!

I'd love to see some more expensive unlockables. I wonder how high do these "prices" get, there must be some fun long term goals.
I guess we now know why Luke never liked Oonsk.:lol

What excites me in a big way though is the idea that they can drop chunks of single player into challenges with changed parameters. It sounds like they could set a challenge that they find cool or unique. For example, "Beat the brute pack on crows nest with black eye skull enabled alone or in co-op." I would have never thought to tweak the game that way, but maybe it's really awesome, and I get rewarded in some way for doing it, even if it's a piddly reward, it'll still get me to play it. Something like that can keep the single player fresh for years.
The campaign part of the credits has me much more excited than its multiplayer component. It'll be really fun to see all of the crazy ways they come up with for you to earn credits.

If I had to put some money down, I'd say that, for the third level, you'll earn credits for now using the active camo throughout the entire level. You know, stuff like that. I love going through Halo 3's and ODST's campaign and do stuff differently than I normally would. Most recently, I've been playing through Uplift Reserve using vehicles and without.

...

Commendations sound great, as do the challenges. As others expressed earlier, though, I'm kind of worried that the need to get challenges will cause someone to play in a drastically different manner than he/she normally would. However, it says this in the G4 article:
Different actions will dole out a different amount of credits, but Bungie is being careful to not encourage player actions that would potentially damage the gameplay experience.
So I guess we'll see.

Why the hell would the other topic be closed? Nobody reads this thread for news. I would have no fucking idea about whatever got revealed. I wouldn't even know about it if I clicked on this thread, the discussion has spiraled away from news sources pages ago. Why would this thread be the one left open anyway? The Reach reveal was months ago.

So when you buy everything what do you do with all the extra credits?

I have determined you should have the ability to make it rain with the push of a button!

What do players get for the infamous "no call" push on Russel buzzer beater? Could be the banhammer for cheaters. :lol

That's funny. He clearly slipped from Jordan's amazing footwork. If he were wearing Jordan sneakers he probably wouldn't have slipped. :lol :lol

edit: I've had my multiplayer disc installed for months and I've got no problems to report on my end.

I hope there are tons of different pieces to unlock...and for them to make a big deal out of it I think there will be.:D
Yeah that is one thing I am hoping the kegstand remark alludes to :p

Having a TON of unlockables, and having a TON of cR challenges [outside of the regular old matchmaking griding for cR]

Im sure Getting to General in "Rank" will require a shit ton of credits. So I am assuming you will still have tons of things you can buy with cR for a long time.

If we'll be sipping beer in May and doing kegstands this fall, I'm sure there will be plenty to buy.

Too good. :lol

You'll have me hooked with just the Beta inclusions. The thought that whatever we see will be but a small part of the bigger picture makes the
pokeman
collector inside of me froth at the mouth.

So great to see the split between single and mulitplayer. You guys just get it.

20M is a steal! ;)

Not trying to derail but MJ clearly gave a slight push, granted Russel was already peddling the wrong way. Either way MJ would have gotten the shot off but with the slight hand placement he did get a clearer view of basket. ;)

IF YOUR DRINK OF CHOICE HAS A PROOF BELOW 150, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

I want to know how much of what we do in the Beta will carry over into the release. Surely Screenshots, probably not saved films. But what of the credits and perms we've already unlocked? How much will we be able to see "wow this dude played entirely too much Beta" come the first day of release with a super-pimped Spartan in our first match?

I would really like to have my cR from the beta carried over. BFBC2 dog tags carried over from the demo to full version.

The credits slate and everything else will surely be wiped clean come release.

Nothing carried over from the Halo 3 beta, it will be a different build of the game, so probably 0 chance.

I was without an xbox 360 for the Halo 3 beta, but I believe the only content that came out of it was saved films, correct? I could see, with Engine changes, that Saved Films would be hard to migrate. But now bungie has it's shit together with the whole File Share business, it seems unlikely that we would lose screenshots if we put them in our file shares.

I also doubt that armour permutations would be discontinued from the retail release (unless they have game-breaking bugs associated with them). The Halo 3 beta had everybody in the Mark VI all the time, so there was nothing to carry over to the new game. If Reach has these unlocks, it would be awesome if they would carry over, to show that we were Beta participants.

Credits would be even easier to migrate, I'd imagine, being just a number that could be saved for a few months. Possible reasons for NOT migrating would be if people boosted cR to redonkulous levels (relatively probable), the cRedits are either too inflated or depreciated from the value Bungie wants them to have (improbable, but distinctly possible), or Bungie just wants to start everybody on a clean slate. I imagine Bungie would have time until Reach goes gold to decide on these things, so we might not know to what extent we carry over until much closer to release.

Kudos to these guys who came up with this sweet looking UI. Color scheme, font, layout is just perfect.

Was there a spin off thread for the new infoz? I can fire one up for the masses. I didn't see one, but then I seem to have fits of blindness in my old age.

Even though other thread is locked now, thanks for starting it. Would not have seen it immediately otherwise.
