Halo Reach Reveal Thread - Matchmaking/Multiplayer Details Revealed

Hm. In the Cortana level I was happy to get it because I died sooo often (I suck at console shooters). With it I was like a hot knife running through butter. Sadface when it depleted.

I'm probably in the minority then, I didn't really care for it when I used it against the flood. It seemed to take a tad too long to kill them and if there were a whole bunch, I would flame them all. Instead of killing them, I would have a hoard of flaming zombies running at me. I also like to move quickly around the battlefield so the speed reduction on the flamethrower is also a let down for me.

That makes sense then. I am dependent to "brute force" weapons a lot more because of my inprecise aiming and navigation. As far as I remember, I lit them up and backed up so the fire did some damage over time. It was a lot easier with the FT on that level. Besides that, I can not imagine it to be useful in campaign.

Now more than ever I wouldn't be surprised to see support weapons cut entirely.
Yeah, that's what I gathered from that post also. Flame thrower being cut, probably means every other 3rd person support weapon is gone too.

Perhaps only the Spartan II's can tote around the turrets now. Too bad if its true because that heavy machine gun looks brutal/badass.

Aside from lugging a turret into Last Resort's base for flag defense and occasionally demolishing a vehicle with the Missile Pod on Valhalla, the support weapons were really lackluster. I hate to see weapons and weapon classes get cut but I won't lose any sleep over it.

Wait, people would actually miss the detachable turret?
You forget that the 'BKs' outnumber us above average, level-headed players. They're the reason why we have Heavies after all. :p

And Ghaleon, you're not as bad as you think you are. :)

That would make zero sense since the S-IIIs are physically the same as the S-IIs, just pulled from a wider pool of candidates and typically equipped with inferior armor, which is not the case with Noble Team.

It has it's uses, sure.

Also I'm probably a total idiot and have missed this, but exactly how long is the beta running for? I'm probably not going to get any time off for the beta except for possibly Saturdays, so I'm hoping it runs for a few weeks so I can try to play. I just had to use all of my planned off time for the beta to take some time off for my wife (who's okay now), and starting the week of the beta Saturday will probably be my only day off every week for a while, great timing -_-.

Was playing Perfect Dark today and it reminded me a little bit of the first time I played the campaign in Halo: Combat Evolved way back when. Fighting against an alien force you know nothing about...The memories. I'm so glad they're redesigning The Covenant for Reach and taking English away from them. Really looking forward to The Covenant being new and intimidating again.

Wow, you're me, except with like 30 times more game experience. :lol

Our KD is basically IDENTICAL, and our weapons of choice even :lol
I'd also like to point out my longstanding trophy pic: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=GhaleonEB

Idea for new medal: Weapon Riot

Get 15 weapon kills in a row without dying. Grenade, Melee and Other kills break streak.
Speaking of medals, Eazy's suggestion of ending a one-side objective game when it's impossible for one team to win made me think of another. If one team shuts the other out and scores in each round, the game should end, the announcer declare one team "buried", and give a Gravedigger medal to everyone the dominating team. (Up 2-0 going into the bottom of the second round, for instance.)

Good as opposed to weapon-specific because a sniper might need to AR someone who gets too close, a shotgunner might need to DMR someone too far away, etc.

So that guys will get 10 kills with the shotgun and then camp the respawn? No thanks.

That makes as much sense as suggesting people camp at respawns how it is.

By that logic, why not just remove all medals? :lol There's a Running Riot medal for a reason. Someone should get an extra medal if they did that without using beat downs/grenades/other for those 15. Someone who beats down 15 people doesn't necessarily have the skill of someone who can avoid those risky situations.

What you're telling me is that Reach doesn't fix Halo 3's spawn problems. Bummer.

Interrupting weapon sprees with other kills is a thing of the past.

Ok, good. I think assassinations also shouldn't interrupt. I mean, if someone is ignorant enough to have them sitting there facing away, I shouldn't be punished by not wanting to waste a bullet on them.

Or, say I'm holding the flag, and I don't want to drop it (and reveal myself) just to keep my spree.

I'm assuming
(hoping)
the shotgun (now made more powerful by increasing its accuracy) is still considered a power-weapon and we won't see many kits with it there to spawn with? (it was one of the example kits in the BWU)

Anyways, the suggestion isn't terribly different than the 10 kill shotgun and sniper sprees considering the sniper only has about 12 rounds on a fresh spawn. They don't really promote better play but from my experience they don't seem to change the way people play.

That said it could get people to ignore the magical palette of weapons and stick to only one for the match.

Love the Sharpshooter for the Sniper Rifle.

Would also love Killtacular back for the 4-player consecutive kill.

The ring just sounds better...

Double-Kill!
Triple-Kill!
Killtacular!

The single weapon-specific medals could. Weapon Riot would allow people to switch between close and long-range, etc.

Someone speculated Thursday, someone else speculated Wednesday. I don't think it's set in stone. Urk could reveal it now, if he wanted *wink wink Urk*

LOL well i hope its on wednesday (tomorrow) to have a split through the week instead of having to wait longer and have two (fridays weekly update) consecutive days. Im dying to see how everything looks without the " place holders ".

After a night of the new Team Skirmish, I can feel the rust starting to peel off.

Tried to join some elite gaffers for some Big Team Social (my favorite), but apparently I wasn't tall enough to ride that ride. :lol Maybe next time.

No biggie, just gave me a chance to practice playing mercenary for awhile, forced to lead teams of mutes by example.

Cannot ****ing wait for Invasion.

It was nice when there was no extermination medal but I think "Overkill Extermination" sounds better than "Killtacular Extermination" I have faith that what ever it is will be cool. I think the coolest medal though, and is really hard to get is the "Hail to the King" medal. I've gotten once in MLG King of the Hill Construct. It surprised the hell out of me :lol The way the announcer says it is awesome.

And I also foresee you being disappointed about this change in the future...
