I definitely saw it in some press release that wasn't supposed to go out awhile back, pretty sure it was linked to on GAF. I remember thinking... they haven't even announced this one yet, oh well. I wasn't too thrilled seeing it either - there was some slight remodeling in similar fashion like the rocket launcher, but overall it was the same exact thing.

Nah, and I'm not dreaming or pulling anyone's chain. It was just an image inside of an article of the flamethrower. There was absolutely no text about it (hence no google - text based search). Just be affirmed that there is a flame-thrower. If I'm wrong, my bad.
The trouble with the flamethrower is that it has a range of, like, 10 feet. You can't even really ambush Covenant with it because it's a 3rd-person weapon and you move so goddamn slow. The Halo 3 version is only useful against the Flood because it's useless at anything besides melee range.

Some kind of heavy machine gun. I don't think much has been said about it. Definitely not a flamethrower though.
Meh I cant be bothered to read this juniors drivel, anyone care to summarise?
I dont actually hate juniors. I remember Eazy saying something about ignoring all juniors on like my first day here, im still depressed :lol
As for the flamethrower - it wasnt implimented well in Halo 3 but im sure they can re design it in a way that its effective in Reach - personally I love the thing and it has a great fear factor assosiated with it. Just today someone rushed me with one on Construct - he was too slow, but it was intense :lol
The trouble is, a flamethrower against sentient beings in campeign would sort of imply they would have screams of pain and what not, I guess with H3 Bungie side stepped that problem, flamethrower against Flood only, and we dont expect them to react because theyre zombies! However setting a Human/ Elite etc alight would probably lead to some brutal deaths and having them react properly in campeign would raise the bar a little in terms of age ratings.

Good then, I have H2 on this gamertag and seeing as how my xbox is broke and I can't join in on the fun come the last day, I can at least get an emblem maybe or whatever they are planning on doing.
work and traveling home for the weekend made checking this thread impossible. now i've got like 40 pages to catch up on. hope i didn't miss anything huge.
any news on this weeks info drop?

Wonder how much effort went into that with the way Bungie had the optimization built into it that hindered its performance when installed to the HDD from the disc?

Poseidon by gouging out his eyes-from his perspective, disembowel Cronos, bash Zeus' skull against a rock until your screen is covered in blood, and rip off Helios' head.
I don't think Halo would be in deep water with some neck twisting.
The great thing about the flame-thrower and the napalm grenades was that they lit the floor/walls on fire. You could create walls of fire between you and the enemy, which had a lot of tactical implications.
Its great for covering an exit, or impeding pursuers as your buddy runs with the flag, or holding back a rush for a territory. My buddies and I put flame grenades in our CTF maps all the time.
Edit: I'm late. Yep, t'was population killed the beast.
Throwback's gametypes have been integrated into Social Skirmish, and Skirm is now a 4v4 hopper. Throwback will alternate with Mythic Brawl as the ranked double exp weekend of the month.
Awesome. It was too hard to get throwback games with a party so it being gone doesn't effect me at all. Now if only skirmish required the mythic maps (Team Mythic isn't all that necessary now) and the BR and classic flag gametypes were brought over to old skirmish maps.
Just checked the weightings on the playlist page. Can't remember what the old ones were but I recall laughably high weightings for landgrab and territories which seem to have taken a much needed reduction:
One Flag CTF (9.2%)
Multi-Flag CTF (19.5%)
One Bomb Assault (9.5%)
Neutral Bomb Assault (9.2%)
VIP (1.5%, Skipped after veto)
Territories (5.7%)
Land Grab (7.6%)
1 Flag Classic (5.7%)
Multi Flag BR (5%)
2 Flag Classic (11.8%)
Team Oddball (4.6%)
That's a 27.1% chance of getting BR starts where only last night there was a 0% chance. If we can keep this trend going we'll be well over 100% BR+AR starts by the end of the week.

Looks like a revamped turret. I'm surprised they're not (announced) to be in the Beta, though. With the plasma launcher taking the role of the missile pod, and the flame thrower out (won't be missed too much), I'm getting nervous that support weapons were yanked altogether.
It's all about miserably low expectation. If you asked me last evening if we'd be play 100% AR objective games until Reach's release I'd tell you, "no, Shishka will find a way to make it 110% AR starts."
This alone will make the wait for Reach 27.1% easier.

Hm. In the Cortana level I was happy to get it because I died sooo often (I suck at console shooters). With it I was like a hot knife running through butter. Sadface when it depleted.
