dammit guys it's fun to explore in Halo campaigns but barriers are there for a reason. "BUT ITZ MOAR FUN TO BREAK TEH LEVELS" isn't a good reason not to control what the player sees or does. The campaign is created to give a general experience with specific direction and plot points. If you can break out of it and walk around, the designer has failed to deliver those points. I'm not saying that they should put a soft ceiling on everything, far from it. But there will be barriers of the kill and invisible variety and you should start accepting it now. Ultimately, the Halo games are always Sandbox-y enough to allow escapades, but the maps are not built to allow it.
No, no, no.

A map designer should build the map with physical barriers that make it clear where they should go next and hard for them to step outside the playable area. You really think two casual users playing co-op, jumping off each others head with a grenade jump to reach the top of a building they were really supposed to reach going to be pissed that the textures aren't polished out there or somehow get lost?

No one should be playing and unintentionally break out of a level, but if they want to mess around and find creative ways to scale the outskirts they shouldn't be stopped. I played the shit out of Halo CE's campaign and honestly half of that time was my friends and I trying to do crazy glitches or sequence breaks. Did people really have a problem with accidentally scaling down AotCR's cliffside and break the experience? I'm guessing they didn't. I've always thought making a skull or something that took off the invisible walls, or I guess now the death countdowns, would be a really good idea.

[Edit] Man, with the rate at which the Halo 2 DLC gets corrupted I'm going to have to find one of the DLC discs if I wanna make any Halo 2 DLC remakes with Reach. :(

Still won't help when the Tombstone and Desolation data files get corrupted. They'll be lost forever. :(

*waits for someone to criticized said maps*

Looks like Halo 2 Vista will be the only option in future.

Yeah, me and a few other people from GAF I think. Add Prophet Steve and you can join after we finished the game.

Hey thanks, out of interest, it is LB to talk in matches right?

Halo 3 really is 10 steps ahead in terms of usability, I dont know how to mute people in this game or even talk :lol

Bladed my f5 button is wearing out... Should I be expecting the montage to be uploaded tonight, or is it likely going to be something that happens tomorrow? :)

I was questioning the whole '10 second warning' thing, but then I played a few games of BF: Bad Company 2 and remembered that DICE handles 'out of bounds' areas in the exact same way, and it works great.

That said, I do hope that Bungie keeps the environmental boundaries in place. The turrets in Snowbound and the mines in Sandtrap were both creative and contextually suitable ways to keep players inside the battlefield.

Aiming the BR in Halo 2 takes no skill at all.:lol

Ugh, I know, and its a little worrying considering the DMR in Halo: Reach will basically work exactly the same way (hit-scan). No need to lead, shots are guaranteed to land as long as your reticule is over the target, even at mid-to-long range.

I dunno if it's just me, but I'm out BRing more people than usual. My AR skills are finally coming in handy.:lol

So, um. How do I download the Halo 2 DLC maps again?

I've been fumbling around for ten minutes now and can't find how to do it.
Sign in to XBL, then go to content download. It'll make you exit halo 2

Yeah, just found it. Thanks. I forgot you had to go a couple levels into the UI for the option. One pack down, three to go. Looks like about 15 minutes and I'll be set.

Edit: I can't play with these settings. If we're going to do this, at least set it up so it's not so hardcore. I was looking forward to this for weeks. :(

What exactly are these emblems we get for playing Halo 2 and how exactly do we get them? Play some time in the last week? The last day? Play in the last match?

Except the auto-aim in Reach will be much less thus making it a bit more difficult.

I'm bowing out of tonight, so there's another slot open in the main group. I wish the default settings were left in, so those of us not so hardcore Halo 2 players could have had an enjoyable send off to the game. But the game was just not fun in the games I was in because of the setup. I'd asked for it to be changed, but I understand I'm in the minority on detesting MLG-type setups. Crummy way to see Halo 2 off. :\

I think I'm about to bail out soon, too. It's not so much the game settings as it is, well, the MP itself. You wanna hook up in Halo 3?

I'll jump in later.

You won't be playing Wednesday? That day we should gather a group outside of the "You suck, get donged lololololol" crowd and create some relaxed/fun default settings games (with br starts) to properly send it off.

I jumped on and some dude in a Ghost started yelling at me to get raped.

Yeah, not really the same kind of atmosphere as regular HaloGAF Customs for whatever reasons.

Well, I would like to communicate but the push to talk is annoying, the sound quality is bad, my wireless headset had to be recharged and since it was late I was not very vivid.

Still had some fun though. Will try to come Wednesday but it will probably be late.

I'm down for some more casual games if you need another player. GT is Josh has a J.

Woah, what? Any idea who it was?

And yeah, it's rare that there's 16 so early, so many new GTs, kind of ironic that it was for Halo 2.
Think it'll go better on Wednesday.

Had some fun but I do agree there's a certain something missing, it was cool to be on some of those old maps though.

For me the combination of the amount of people there and the fact the voice chat seemed to be both really quiet and cracking up just made talking a bit redundant.

I don't much like the boundaries in Sandtrap and Snowbound. It makes me feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of what should be playable space. And I don't like having to worry about people cheating the boundary on the edges of the map. I shouldn't have to be distracted by that. I'm still partial to natural boundaries, such as cliffs, walls, rocks and whatever, as opposed to the "cross-the-line-and-turrets-shoot-you" kind of thing. it's just kind of hokey in my opinion. I mean, what the heck am I doing in an area surrouneded by muderous turrets?

What the hell are you doing in a place surrounded by mountains. :lol
And usually there isn't anything to do on that empty space, so I don't mind.
