Oh dear. And I have yet to catch up with most of the releases from the first few months of this year, as well as some games from last year...

Thankfully I'll have several months of summer holiday from May 13th onwards. :)

Should we expect to see any hardcore ad campaign for the beta?

I don't remember what they did for Halo 3's beta.
I don't expect more than a few ads on the 360 dashboard. I expect there to be a huge ad campaign for the full release however.

Well usually demos are made so people can get interested in the whole game. So if a demo doesn't interest me, I usually have no interest in the full game

I guess instead of saying it's not a good game, I should've said I didn't appreciate playing it. That way people won't get mad

Edit: I've seen the full game being played and still didn't get interested though
I see your point. It's not like it was a Just Cause 2 beta that you were playing. They gave you the demo, it's their pitch for you to go and buy the game. If they can't snag your interest in that short demo, well then that settles that.

However, with Reach on the other hand it's much more different. To the halo enthusiasts like ourselves, this is a demo. To Bungie it is a stress test as well as a few other things. No doubt there will be some kid somewhere so blindly caught up in the unpolished graphics or the broken pistol that he will totally disregard Reach when it's available for retail :p

Since we're all playing, my vote is for 1.17GB (can't believe none of you guessed this already; squid am disappoint).

Dear Bungie, F&F would really help me get through the tough times that lie ahead both for my social life and wallet.
Crazy! I will try and wait to play them after the beta is down, so that nothing interferes with the limited Reach time, and besides having all these great games waiting to be played will help take my mind off the sadness of having Reach beta being taken away.. Oh and in my case add the new Mario Galaxy to the list too!

It's gonna be a long day when the only thing to talk about is what people think the size of the beta will be. :/

It is not our fault if all the updates get released on fridays.

The problem is I've got four days of work (and no reach) before that.

That's why.

7.7 Gig, Bungie will just pad the Beta up with uncompressed video footage to get to the magical 7 if its any less.

Make it happen Bungie.
WHAT?

You're crazy, my prediction is way better than yours.

Bah, fools don't understand the way it's meant to be predicted.

Quick question about l haven't seen answered anywhere about Loadouts. I like how it's a semi-class system that can ebb and flow throughout the match, and everyone playing will easily know what's up and available from the start. My question is, do you get to see what loadouts your teammates have picked or do you have to talk and coordinate that by mic?

I know your just playing up to Squidhands and Arabman buuut...

Tch. I bet you play Inverted Boxer settings. This is Bungie were talking about BK, they release BIG Beta's.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Do we have any idea on how long the Beta will last? I forgot how long Halo 3's Beta lasted (if I recall, I believe it was up until the month before Halo 3 released, although I really don't remember).

And to keep up with the current posts, I'm going to guess...

1.25GB. Why? I don't know.

It would be awesome to be a part of that play test, I wonder what kind of people are being invited to these things...

Yeah, I'm tempted to do this, plus game prices seem to drop pretty quickly, but I also really want to support Remedy and Obsidian with day-one sales.

Well there's nothing else to talk about, is there? We have to wait until Thursday for the gametypes reveal (or is it Friday w/ GTTV) and then the update Friday evening.

I guess I'd better make a formal guess: 2.2. I was glad to see Joe posting on Noble Actual. I thought he had forgotten us ;_;

And Kylej, I'm rocking a 20, but I plan to pick up a PNY 16gig USB drive to expand.

My fellow brothers using the OG 20gig are cringing at this beta size talk.

Shouldn't be too bad. I can't imagine the downloa being over 1.5GB, and you can always delete your Halo 3 map packs for the duration of the beta. :D

Wasnt the Halo 3 beta 1.3 or so gigs? that was with 3 maps, so 4 maps and all the added stuff and higher res textures, I still stand by my 2.3 gig guess :D

Welcome to the Bungie Friends & Family Halo 3 beta!

In order to play the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta, you will need an Xbox 360 with a hard drive and an Xbox LIVE Gold account.

Your beta download code is: F96C2-FX2CV-WDBM8-D9MVV-RB7BM

This code will allow you to download the Halo 3 Beta to one Xbox 360 console, one time.

Instructions for installing and launching the beta are below:

1. Turn on your Xbox 360 and sign-in with your Xbox LIVE Gold account
2. Select “Marketplace” from the Xbox LIVE dashboard
3. Select the “Redeem Code” option
4. Enter a beta download code
5. Once the download completes, navigate to the “Games” blade of the dashboard
6. Select “Demos and More”
7. Select and launch the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta!

The initial download may take some time depending on network traffic and your own internet connection. Please be patient.

Please note that the Halo 3 beta only supports Matchmaking play over Xbox Live. You will not be able to play any custom games or play in offline/system link matches. You can, however, play with a friend in split-screen games in the Social playlists.

You can visit our website and interact with other beta participants and leave feedback for Bungie in our forum located at http://www.bungie.net/Forums/Halo3Beta. This forum will be active as of Friday 5/11. Staring Tuesday, 5/15, we will have a wealth of information available to give you an edge against the online competition. Bungie.net will also give you a chance to review a sampling of post-game statistics from the matches you play online.

If you have problems or need assistance please visit the Bungie.net forum listed above. Do not respond this message, the Soul isn't listening.

Thank you and have fun playing the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta!

Sincerely,
The Bungie Team

It will be just big enough that you have to make some painful deletions. Or, move stuff to a USB drive.

Also, new post at Nobel Actual that I assume has been posted but that I missed. It's a tradition.

Edit: on tap this week:

Gametypes, sans Invasion: Thursday (likely)
Weekly Update (Friday evening)
Invasion and Boneyard reveal on G4 late Friday night

We should also get "action shots" of the maps this week.
