assassinations might remain in the game but mlg rules are gonna disqualify you if you do them. Long animations lead to unexpected/random things

they banned the chainsaw in gears2 in their rules. you had to start with the Hammerburst gun

I think it is a consequence of just how many people post in this thread, and how often. This thread, at times, is more like instant messenger than a thread. Consequently, any one post can lead to pages of discussion about something that seems unrelated, but had its beginnings with some random Reach tidbit. And I think the people in the thread like the casual laid-back vibe. I guess it's unfortunate for the people who come in here looking for specific information, but, honestly, I wouldn't want anything to change.

This. I prefer obscure avatar fads that only people who follow HaloGAF/Bungie will get.

BTW, does anyone remember what exactly soffish meant? I remember reading years ago that it was an acronym for something related to the wait for the new halo game being developed, but I don't remember what it was exactly.

Having avatars, that only HaloGAF knows about is fine, its the whole discussions that take place regarding beards, oonsk and what have you that is no needed in this thread. I remember the page after page of oonsk talk. That shit was stupid. So please if you need to ask Letters to make you an avatar with beards, oonsk or any other new thing that is going to be associated with Halo or Bungie, please keep those requests in PM form.

I never heard that, I always thought it was an actual product they lost. Who knows. :lol

I haven't heard back from a the admin I pinged on posting the Beta thread. If I don't hear back, I think I'll wait until all the details I want are unveiled, especially the b.net/theater features, and then go ahead and post it.

Oh please. It's part of the community. Don't like it, skim it and ignore it. I do the same for tons of conversation. HaloGAF has a distinctly weird culture and that's part of why it's so fun.

Besides, on GAF customizing avatars is a longstanding tradition. We've even had entire spin-off threads for various games doing likewise.

Soffish was a sponge-type product from Japan that endlessly amused (some of) the early employees of Bungie Studios - you got one in an envelope and added water. Mostly, they were amused by the Engrish on the directions.

Amused enough to put up the Soffish page on B.net (see Ghaleon's link). But eventually, the Soffish was lost (probably in a move) - and nobody knew where to get more. :(

And now you know the REST of the story.

Also, how certain are we about getting another Vidoc before the beta? was it ever confirmed?

Maybe the Wednesday embargo is for video footage. Mancannon did say that tons of pics and info were coming on Tuesday, but he didn't mention videos on Tuesday.

Turns out that the global embargo is WEDNESDAY for impressions and screens. It was Tuesday but it got pushed back a day to be a little kinder to the UK journos who just today got their hands-on. My initial reponse was out-of-date.

The multimedia week of win is very much still in effect though. Beginning this afternoon.

I cannot wait until the embargo is lifted, I wonder how much new stuff there is in Reach that we do not even know about yet... Little things like spawning in your battle bro's vehicle have been kept secret up until this point and are so friggen awesome...

I forget if we knew everything about the Halo 3 beta before the embargo was lifted, or were there several surprises?

You can change the settings in custom games to work just like Halo 2's mode.

Personally I think assault is just a poor man's CTF either way. Neutral assault is alright but anything else just sucks.
