Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

I got plenty of games today. It started out really fast but then got progressively slower. I actually got into two quick BTB games but the games failed and went straight to a post-game screen.

I went back to Team Slayer after that and my game times were fast again.

Finally had some time to play now the patches have come. Played this afternoon (UK) and obviously got a bit of luck, since I got matches made pretty fast and the teams were all balanced.

My problem - whilst network performance in Halo 2 and 3 was absolutely fine, H2:A was unplayable. At times it worked fine, and then it just suddenly lagged up for long periods - and we're talking ping times in the seconds here. Anyone else had specific problems with H2:A?

I couldn't find BTB games last night either. I got a game of team slayer and fuck that was fun even though I'm rusty as hell at halo. Then I gave up after a few more tries of ending in a straight game over. Gonna try again maybe this weekend for a few more games.

Just finished halo 1 - 3. Incredible games. Sure, they have their low points, but I don't understand how any FPS fan could not like halo.

If you like Destiny, halo is SUBSTANTIALLY better.

I just got to the Halo 3 campaign and is it just me or does it look great. I know there wasn't the anniversary treatment to it but they cleaned up the game real nice. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it looks now and the framerate has been a butter smooth 60fps through the first few levels.
It's alright. The large boost to perf and spatial sampling is nice, but otherwise the original game has a few advantages. Visually, the new brightness curve is making the image look washed out, and MCC has a couple of minor graphical quirks. Acoustically, the new mix is all wonky and there seems to be some missing filtering.

Not even gonna mention that they made the human faces much better than they were in 2007 lol.
???

They're the same...

Yo but for real trying to play matchmaking with a friend is a nightmare still. Half the time it won't find a match or we won't end up in the same lobby. It is almost 2015.

The glitches/bugs are still not consistent.

My friend and I have played probably 20+ games together since last Friday, only had to reset maybe 2x during those sessions.

Last time, every invite I sent him worked, we were in amazement.

Just picked up an Xbox One and this, and I'm just wondering: how's the performance in splitscreen campaign? I've got an old high school buddy (we used to play Halo 1&2 religiously) coming over on the weekend and we want to drink beer and play co-op.

I'm excited, I never got around to buying Halo 3 or 4 on 360, so I'm 100% ready to "Finish the Fight" close to a decade later, haha

Splitscreen performance is (for me) by far the most disappointing part of the collection.

The framerate is awful.

I've had worse luck. Tried playing with my brother and we probably need to restart the game every 2-3 matches to make sure we join the same lobbies.

I'm crying already! What would you peg the framerate at? I'm not too worried if it hovers around 30 with occassional dips; I grew up a console gamer (well, originally a DOS gamer, but never 3d games on PC), so I'm used to console performance for the most part.

I assume that Halo 2 (remaster) performs the worst?

The new thing apparently is to immediately get 9 people in the playlist and wait 3-5 minutes for the game to decide to put someone else in or kick the 9th person. I don't think the even teams concept should come at the expense of setup time.

lol yup. this is exactly whats been happening past two days for me.

Dear non CE players, you have your own goddamn playlists. Let me play some fucking CE team slayer
Preach!

I hate how people keep constantly voting H3 over and over again. I mean goddamn they have a choice between a game that never had online console play before (Halo 1), a game that has been previously shutdown for 4 years (Halo 2), and yet they pick HALO FUCKING 3! GTFO with that.

And the worst part is that this thread has slowed to a crawl. This game :(

Wait till it goes away from gaming side. Will probably just die off like the Halo 4 thread as most would rather just post in the community OT. Crazy that so many thought we could have separate threads for customs running concurrently. Such a bungle of a launch. More than a month now, and still getting "we're seeing improvements, working around the clock, ranked playlists and dedicated CE coming Soon™".

I mean damn, I gey the problems, but how busted was the game that it took a month for 343 and Xbox programmers and engineers just to get matchmaking somewhat functional? Still so many bugs and crashes.

Once this thread gets Community'd, it will never get traction. I wonder if the Halo 5 OT will get farther along than this one.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
I'm playing through Halo 4 right now and story issues aside (too much knowledge of the books required), the game is absolutely beautiful and I still think it's really fun and right up there with the others. Maybe it's just because I find the core gameplay of Halo to be fun and Halo 4 still has that with deviations (some even substantial) but I'm still finding Halo 4 a blast to play.

Also, I imagine that 343's goal is to have matchmaking pretty much fixed by the time of Halo 5's beta release. They could almost use that as a second launching point if the fixes are done in time. I think Halo 5 will probably run fine online regardless because it's probably on a separate platform entirely, but it would be the time to make sure the MCC is absolutely fixed (if at all possible).

BTB takes awhile, but it's lots of fun if you can get a game. CE is great when it doesn't lag.

Go from being called trash one game to having someone kind enough to guard my rockets after I died the next. Never change, Halo.

Just opened my new xbox with MCC currently installing. Having never played Halo 1, 2, or 4, I'm SO excited!!

There aren't any technical problems with the campaigns right?

there are multiple problems with the campaigns, but everything will be playable. nothing too terrible.

frame rate issues in all campaigns, sound issues in H3 and H2 (if i remember correctly), some disappearing assets in H2. other misc issues. (god help you if you want to play co-op in certain configurations)

most of this stuff you hopefully wont notice or wont be affected by. they shouldn't affect your enjoyment of these awesome campaigns.

And the worst part is that this thread has slowed to a crawl. This game :(

if any overglorified overhyped collection deserves to be forgotten, its this one. they promised so much and delivered so much less.

its a damn shame.

Anyone know if BTB will ever get a 16 player max like it's supposed to be?

It's currently at 12 which isn't right fit BTB.

The main thing I bought the game for was to be able to play 8v8 with vehicles again. I'm trying to play some Valhalla CTF or that sand map without the lag...

I'm so disappointed right now.

Hey so I just got this game yesterday (finally!) and I've been playing through H2A's campaign. One thing that I noticed is that the Sentinel Beam weapon doesn't show an actual beam when using the Anniversary graphics. Is this intentional?

It has a beam in H2A multi, so I doubt it.

Just had the oddest bug. Beat The Great Journey. The game seemingly locked up in a black screen but I was able to switch back to classic graphics. Restarted the last checkpoint in the fight against Tartarus and (can't switch to remastered graphics at this point) beat the mission again to get it to register. It was so weird.

Well, I'll answer that on pretty easily for you.

Frankie and 343i said that the only reason they were able to include Halo CE in this collection was because of dedicated servers. With they, it was possible to mostly fix the horrendous netcode and lag.

Now, we all know the dedicated servers are nowhere to be seen in this game, which means that it's running of P2P connections, leaving Halo CE to be a terrible, horrible, full of lag experience.

So, that why I never voted for Halo CE on the Team Slayer playlist, and I still won't until/IF 343i introduces the dedicated servers.
