I have experienced something weird. About 7 or 8 years ago I went to bed after being up 28 hours straight. I was exhausted. (I came home from a lan or something.) After a couple of minutes, I was suddenly sitting on my bed staring into 3 grinning faces. They were very blurry and kinda washed out, but there was something there. I thought I had a dream. I switched on the lights, and they were still there! I paniced abit, but I was so tired that I don't really remember what happend, I fell a sleep again and in the morning there was nothing there. Nothing like this occured ever again. I don't think it was a ghost, and I was probably hallucinating since I was so tired. But who really knows though, I will always remember it. Freaky as hell!

Our house at that time was very old from the ground, but completley rebuilt.

Anyone else have any stories of something weird you experienced?

Sure... might as well post this:

I don't remember how old I was... but I reckon I was around 7. Anywho, I was sleeping with my arms out of the covers when I woke for some odd reason. Nothing strange... happens all the time. I reposition myself to get comfortable when a begin to feel a slight sting on my leg.

Nothing... I reassure myself... but the stinging persists and it was, to this day, a sensation I have not ever felt before in my entire life. In any case, the stinging subsides and I try to go back to sleep... when I begin to hear children laughing as if in a playground. It was very faint... but certainly audible. I shake my head and, yet again, reposition myself for better comfort when it happened:

A light, blue flash rapidly tapped me on the shoulder.

Without thinking I propel myself from my bed and into my parents room for safety. They never believed me, of course (my mother told me it was a dream... told me how sure she was that she had met Tom Hanks... but she didn't). For YEARS after I never slept with my arms out of the covers.

Ok, heres mine...

This was about 4 years ago when I lived in Suburban Chicago. My parents were on vacation somewhere and I had the house to myself for about a week, anyway Im alone at the house at like 11 at night. Im standing in the kitchen making a snack when I hear something move in the living room. I go to investigate and didnt see anything. I go back to kitchen and about 2 minutes later I hear glass crash on the floor (I damn near shit my pants), anywho I go to the living room again and one of the glass dolls on the bookshelf was shattered on the floor. No one is home and there was nothing that shook the house. As soon as I look up from the floor I swear I saw someone in our hallway...it was crazy, like they were just standing there and then dissapeared. I fuckin lost it, jumped in my car and sped to my gf's house. My entire body was shaking and I had to blast the radio to calm down. I didnt go back to my house for 2 days. I smoked alot of weed that night to forget about it...but that plan definately backfired.

My stories aren't that good but I love telling them nonetheless.

My friends and I, when we were 6 or so, were really interested in ghosts and stuff. So we would do all these experiments like make this juice from this plant and then check back later that day and some of it would be gone. :lol But anyway this time we were putting all these stuffed animals around his room and then would sit down stairs for a few minutes and check the room to see if anything moved. I guess you could blame movies like Toy Story and Small Soldiers for our behaviour. Anyway his mom had went upstairs during this to get the laundry, or something, and she moved everything. To say the least we ran down screaming our bloody brains out.

The amount of stories that begin with "one day I woke up and went downstairs to get a drink" are endless. I love the night! I love sleeping! And I love having my mind get totally fucked when it's operating half asleep. Usually all of these stories are had to be there because I'm not a good story teller. If I think of a really good one I'll post it.

I can't wait to hear what you guys have to say!

Hehe, this was kinda funny. Once I thought I heard a kid screaming, like looking for his dog, late at night. I was furious cause I couldnt sleep and thought of opening the window and telling him to shut up, when the sound source came swooshing by the window. XD Screaming and all. No footsteps, although I was 100% sure I'd hear them if there were any. Got scared, cause it happened again, and there really wasn't any space to just run by my window like that. Freaky, no?

Got up and eventually found out owls, yes, small owls from time to time came to the neighbourhood (doing what?) and that they sounded just like little boys screaming. :p

Not seen, but definitely heard one before. I was 16 or 17 at the time, trying to get to sleep on the couch in front of the TV after playing some games for a few hours. It was 2:00 or 3:00 AM, so my parents were definitely asleep, and my sister was staying at a friend's house for the night.

This was a big room, directly connected to a set of stairs that led down to the 1st floor, as well as a door heading into the 2nd floor hallway. If you were to enter through one of these doors while the other one was slightly open, it would slam shut from the force of the air. Creepy for the first few years if I was home alone, to say the least.

Okay, so I had just turned the TV and lights off and laid down when I heard the downstairs door open. This slammed shut the door closest to me upstairs and scared the shit out of me, not just from the noise, but because the room was dark and nobody else was awake.

Then I freaked the fuck out, because I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I nearly pissed myself after counting eleven steps, knowing that there were eleven steps connecting this room and the downstairs door. Then, nothing. No more footsteps approaching or receding, just the sound of the downstairs door closing on its own. I hauled ass into my room and decided to sleep there instead.

About 10 years ago while workin with my dad. I was cutting the grass behind some big ass house, their yard and the neighbors yard were seperated by only a small fence. I remember stopping because i noticed something in the corner of my eye. It was a white horse with bloodshot eyes, when I heard something behind me so I quickly turned for a second. When I looked back to where I had seen the horse, I only saw a rather large white dog with bloodshot eyes. Crazy thing is as it walked off it made horse noises. :lol It freaked the shit outta me. The neighbors had a stable but it empty because they were on vacation.

I was thinking about posting a thread like this just the other day! Not because I have any of my own stories, but because I want to hear everyone else's :p There's this enormous house about five blocks away from me, right on the lake, that's REALLY creepy at night. I've only ever seen the lights on in one room, but I suppose it might be a summer house or they might be on vacation or something. The grounds are well-kept, and nothing scary has ever really happened to knowledge, but the place is just creepy.

I just entered the fourth grade at Horicon Elementary School. It was my first year there so I didn't have any friends and I was definitely not a social butterfly. One kid I got along with was Daryll. We talked on the first day, hung out at recess, etc. Sat next to each other in music class. Not like an instant bond or anything, but he was the only kid to open up to me in my first week or so there.

I think like a week or two passed. We came back from labor day vacationand our buses dropped us off about 5 minutes before school or so so we could usually chill out on the playground before the bell rang. so I played with daryll as usual. when the bell rang to go in we both went but then he ran back to the playground. I told him to come or I was going to tell the teacher on him. he said he didn't care. So I went in and told our teacher. she told me to take a seat but I told her that he was still out there. She told me to take my seat now.

She then informed the class that Daryll and his uncle were killed two days earlier in an airplane crash.

The funny thing is at the time it didn't really sink in, what had happened before the bell rang.. I was a little confused, but at 9 years old certain things just don't register. It wasn't until I was older that I realized what had happened. And make no qualms about it. I played with him as sure as I am typing this right now. I remember very distinctly looking back that at that moment life was just as it had been for the past two weeks, no different.

anyway, there is my little story. of further interest, Horicon was actually in the news a few more times over the years for ghost stories. It even made an episode of Unsolved Mysteries for one of those stories as well as a few ghost investigation type shows.

I know of plenty of stories... absent from my own.

One of the ones I like to tell if from a family friend of mine. He's pretty into channeling the spirits... etc... it's a hobby of his...

...or was.

Story goes as follows. With the recent release of White Noise... as well as the basement scene in the Sixth Sense... you probably have heard of recording absolutely NOTHING on an old school tape recorder... only to hear shit deep in the background.

Anywho... this guy reads up on this shit. He buys a specific recorder and follows the directions to a T. Ok. So he records his surroundings for a good ten minutes, takes out the tape and like rerecords over it (mind you... this is on a blank tape). After about 20-30 minutes of recording and rerecording... he takes the finished product, calls his wife in, and listens:

Silence... that is until he hears the following:

Don't do it.

Needless to say he turned that shit right off, head out to the garbage can and threw the entire thing (tape and recorder) right into the trash.

The way he told it to me was pretty funny. Hope you chuckle a bit :)

I'm not a big believer in things like this. But I do believe the mind is powerful enough to thoroughly trick the psyche through hallucination.

There was some guy that posted a few years back about the stuff he hallucinated when smoking weed that scared the crap outta me. He was scared shitless too and the manner of his posts did not suggest someone trying to bullshit.

He described hairy monkey sized things with human faces that would chase his car across rooftops as he drove around. When he looked twice they'd be gone. This always happened at night. He also described the noise of angry crowds moving up the street and banging on his garage door with deafening noise. When he looked out the window the noise would abruptly stop and there'd be no one there. The final thing was a half-human/half-dog thing that he would see on the street (again, night time, driving around). It had the arms and head of a human and the back legs of a dog and moved around like a dog.

This dude was a little messed up to say the least. Forum advice was to go see a shrink but I have no idea what happened to him after posting here. Does anyone else remember him? Posts like that stick in your mind.

Never actually seen one but my family has heard some weird stuff at my parents house. When my mom was 8 months pregnant with my sister she was laying in bed during the middle of the day when nobody was home. She clearly heard someone walk up and down the hallway a few times and open different doors but by the time she got out of bed she couldn't find anyone.

My dad used to work midnights and so on the weekend he would stay up all night. One night he was watching tv and he heard someone walk down the hallway upstairs, walk down the steps, and into a room downstairs. He went to check it out because I was sleep walking at the time and there was nobody in the room. We also had baby gates up because my sister was just starting to walk and they weren't moved or opened.

There hasn't been any incidents for like 20 years but recently my sister who is 22 now and married just had her first baby and recently moved back in with my mom into the old house while her husband who just got out of the army looked for a job. Anyways, the baby was born on January 12th and there have been a few incidents since then. My sister has heard someone walk down the hallway when she is home alone and some doors that were shut have been left opened. Also, my stepdad works swing shifts so often my mom or stepdad will be sleeping by themselves and at weird times. They have both heard on different occasions something walking around in their bedroom in the dark and it usually stops near their bed. They were both pretty shaken by that one. Their bedroom comprises of the whole attic which was only recently refinished to be their bedroom and is quite large.

That's the big things I can remember. There have been other weird things that have happened quite a bit like doors opening on their own and rooms smelling like stinky feet when you enter them but nothing else that sticks out in my mind. The house is very old and I know that a teenage girl actually hung herself out a window in the 20s because she had become pregnant when she wasn't married. That makes all the activity around babies evern freakier to me.

The human mind is a powerful thing... especially when demons abuse it.
I've had a few scary demon encounters in my life, but after watching Amityville last night I don't want to talk about it. I get chills up my spine just thinking about it.

I've also never seen anything, but have heard stuff and had plenty of weird experiences while in college. My freshman year I moved into the dorms and immediatly had some of the older guys telling us new guys stories about the end of the floor that was haunted. The end that I lived on. Most of us just laughed about it thinking they were telling stories, trying to get the freshmen to believe silly things.

Over the next few years, I learned differently. Everyone who lived on that end of the floor pretty much had some kind of story to tell. At different times I heard the door open in the night, but when I'd look, no one would be there. My roommate, who is still one of my best friends, would also hear that and footsteps at various times. We'd often just look at each other and just shake our heads. One night I was on my computer, playing a game as usual, when a large, heavy duffle bag flew off the top of a wooden wardrobe and struck me in the back of the head. I thought my friend, who was standing there watching the whole thing threw it at me. I turned to him and said "What the fuck dude?" and could tell by the look on his face it wasn't him. He pointed out that the bag was on top of the wardrobe and had to make a 90 degree turn to hit me the way it did. It was very odd, and we still talk about it to this day.

Some of my other friends had odd sounds as well. One was sitting in the hall late at night and heard somone running down the hall in what sounded like heavy boots. When he looked up, no one was there. Another heard the door to his room open, and someone walk in, and pickup the phone and starting punching the keys. When he looked over the edge of his bed to see who was there, there was no one. There were many many odd stories like this one amongst the guys who all lived on our end of the floor.

Theres a lot of good stuff on B3TA's halloween thread. My choice cut is this:

My nephew heard drums above his bedroom when he was around 8 years old; a low and bassy drum with a tribal rhythm...

There was some trouble in that part of the family at that time. My sister was constantly stressed, her husband was here, there, and everywhere, and not at home. The two children (my neice and nephew) were just growing up.

My brother-in-law (sister's husband) has a deep African background; when I say deep, I mean as in going far back, not so much as in deep into the middle of Africa, although Ghana is a fairway inside the country.

My B-I-L's father came to visit him during this period of trouble, not to sort out any trouble or help with any difficulties, no his was just a visit as they hadn't seen each other for about 25 years. So, he came over from Ghana to visit, bringing gifts galour.

One of the gifts he brought was a set of tribal drums, authentic and used in tribal get togethers previously, and now handed down as a bridge to cover the gap of 25 lost years.

My B-I-L's father stayed around for a fortnight, said his goodbyes and went. Not much happened while he was here, though it's now thought that he brought more than the usual kind of gifts with him. After all, the announcement of a visit was unexpected, and not the sort of thing you'd probably do after 25 year - phone up and say you're coming to visit, and then go.

Not soon after the visit, my nephew started telling his mum and dad about something he could see in the trees across the road, and that he was getting scared of it. This went on for about 1 month, and then the desription progressed to a 'monkey with long arms'.

Also, at this time one of my other sisters began having nightmares about a 'monkey with a hideous face, and long arms, beating down on her chest as it sat on her stomach, and bearing it's long sharp teeth'.

And, it got into one of my brother's nightmares too... he woke up one night, in the dark, swearing blindly that there was a big dip in the bed as though something really heavy was sat on it. He said he couldn't see a shape or outline, but could feel that something or someone was there, and said 'it must've been fucking huge, if it was a something'.

Items would go missing for days on end. But for that the children were accused of stealing, even though it was never prooved that they were. Nor was anything that was stolen found in their possession / rooms. Stuff would just turn up in stupid and unusual places, like knives in the freezer, wallet in the bath (actually in a bath full of water)...

One day my mothers' cross and chain was found outside the house on the footpath at the front door. This chain wasn't broken in any way; it was difficult to take it off even when someone else tried to unclasp it. It was found on the floor as though someone had actually taken it off, rather than pull at it, or it being pulled by a coat collar, or jumper or something.

Whilst all this eebie geebie stuff was happening, so too was the tension growing in the family. Arguments and fights and all sorts of stuff happening all the time (which is probably normal from brothers and sisters), but it was constant. Never did the trouble subside even a little tiny bit. And, the trouble only started around the time of this visit from Ghana.

There was no link made at the time between the Tribal Drums and trouble, or monkey, and was only thought of almost a year later.

Well, with two kids and a bit of trouble going on all the time, you'd want to put any valuables away, so the tribal drums were relegated to the attic: hiding place then only known to my B-I-L and my sister.

My nephew then began telling us of how he couldn't sleep very well because he could hear drums at night. His work at school wasn't doing very well, and his teachers had complained at how he'd sleep at his desk. 'Are there any troubles at home?' The teachers would ask.

The monkey had also began 'pointing' at my nephew, 'making horrible angry faces' at him, and shaking its fists and showing it's pointy teeth

My nephew would, for most of the time, sleep in his sisters room, due to being shite scarred. And, whilst the monkey was in the tree, he wouldn't go out and play, nor would he stand near the windows because, he said, it could see him.

So as things went on more thought went into where these drum noises could be coming from, and therefore, the next-door neighbours felt the brunt of it. But, sometime after accusing the neighbours they went away, leaving the house empty. And so, no-one could be accused of making drum noises, or playing music.

Then (it must have been about 2 1/2 to 3 months after the visit) that the shit really hit the fan in the family. My B-I-L and sister split up; B-I-L moved out, taking his stuff with him but leaving the drums in the attic - he'd forgotten them, and so had everyone else for the time.

My nephew's noise problem hadn't settled down, and so it only came obvious then that no-one had gone into the attic above his bedroom to see if there was a loose banging pipe, or loose roof tile, or something that could be attributed to some sort of low bassy rythmic beating.

There were no pipes in the attic. No, loose tiles on the roof. There was a set of 2 African Tribal Drums in that attic directly above my nephew's bed, though.

The drums were given back to my B-I-L , and all bother stopped. My other sister didn't have nightmares of monkeys beating on her chest, nor did my nephew see it ever again, and the drum noises stopped.

Now, if the monkey was a monkey or not, we don't know - orangutan, monkey, gibbon... we're not experts, but my sister said she'd never seen anything like it before, and that she could only think of a monkey type creature when she saw it in her nightmares. My nephew nowadays says that all he can remember of this monkey type thing is that it looked like a monkey, 'but,' he said. 'I'm not an expert.'

When the trouble did stop, the family were all happy and fine again. We still are happy and fine. But, my sister and children left that house and moved elsewhere. We haven't the heart to tell the new homeowners about what happened.

I remember sleeping over at my cousins house awhile back, I was 12 or 13 at the time and I heard their ghost stories that they experienced, but when I experienced one over there, HOLY SHIT!

I was watching TV downstairs and my 2 cousins and their friend were gossiping in their room (they're chicks), all of a sudden, a cloud or something appears in the corner, I fucking start yelling for my cousins and they come into the room, they were just as shocked.

They waved their hands through it but nothing happened, then it just vanished.

:|

Some things my cousins told me they saw was a ghost in the form of a little girl, they saw her in the corner of their room in the middle of the night once...

A couple years back, when they sold the house, 2 elderly folks stopped by and told one of my cousins that they lived their with their daughter...but she died when she was a child...

o_o

They planted the tree in the front yard in her memory, but it was huge when my cousins lived there, so their daughter musta died somewhere in the 70s/80s.

Creepy shit...

A true Story

My granfather said he went to sleep and he dreamt of this place where there were evil muscular dudes with bags on their head, so he said he pushed some kind of waterway switch and it flooded the land killing the people. But then he heard a vioce saying that those people weren't meant to be killed, he said that he heard a voice tell him that he would die for this, but he begged the voice for more time with his children. The voice said that he would have ten years.

THE SCARY PART

My grandfather woke up and told people in the family how the voice in his dream said he'd only have ten years to live. Time passed and one day My granfather a strong happy man came home from work sick exactly ten years to the date he had that dream. Doctors said he had a mysterious liver cancer, he died a rather painful death...but the story doesn't end there

MY Uncle
My grandfather being deeply in the occult left all these cool books about demons real names and such, witchcraft books, so my uncle tried to use one of the books to bring my grandfather back to life..soundscrazy I know, but he didn't succeed, but what he and his children claim is that he brought 3 spirits to their home...Didn't the thread maker mention 3 ghost :D these spirits would do anything you asked them, but the problem was you payed them with soul. My uncle had a argument with his wife one day and she went in aroom and something she couldn't see smacked her, she thought maybe somehow my uncle was joking, but he was in the bedroom sitting on the bed. My uncle did a spell to get rid of them.

My cousin? to be continued if anybody wants to hear more.

I'm insane because I believe in a spiritual realm where fallen angels are constantly at work keeping people from accepting Christ?

Okay... That's fair. If you don't believe what I do I can see how that looks crazy. All I can say is that I've experienced both sides of it and that this anecdotal evidence does nobody good.

It is true that the human mind can fabricate things that aren't there, though.

Here's my experience with ghosts. I have two of them one is you standrad paranoi stuff.

I worked in a hotel that was built very close to a site that killed a few hundred railway workers in an avalanche. Working graveyards in that place you wuold hear all kinds of creepy shit. It was an old hotel with a very Shining feel to it so you always expected some weirdness.

They second is more creepy. My mother died when I was little and I've always kinda felt she was around. My father was an overbearing prick had the whole be a fucking man complex. Tough as a coffin nail and a prick. One day I'm back country snowboarding by myself. Not the smartest thing to do, but at the time I didn't give a fuck about much. Anyway I get worked bad in a small slide, bounce my face off a tree going about mach 5. I'm a few hours hike into the wilderness and wedged burried in this snow ghost. For those of you dont know a snow ghost is a tree covered in snow it looks like a ghost with all the snow in its branches and if you fall into the hole under it it tends to make you a ghost. So I'm stuck in there my face is bashed in my nose is blown clear off and the bone is all wedged in right side of my face. I hear my mothers voice and can see her all soft beautiful and welcoming. I remember thinking sorry Mom but I just dont need you I dont want to be with you. Then I remember my Father, with the whole military bullshit. "Get on you fucking feet, be a fucking man stand up for yourself". Next thing I know I'm waiting for the ambulance at that same hotel. Was completely blind from the swelling. Have no memory of how I got out of the backcountry or that snow ghost. Walked out on my feet have no idea how though. Hadn't spoken to my Dad for years at the time. He phoned the hotel looking for me when I was in the hospital and showed up at the hotel as soon as I got out. It was like a 7 hour drive from were he lived. Not sure if I truly belive in ghosts or just the human survival instinct.

I'm just wondering about the people in this thread who believe or have seen ghosts.
Are you religious (and I don't just mean believe or follow an organized religion) in anyway?
Did seeing a ghost change your beliefs?

What are your views on alien visits and abductions?
Have you ever been visited or abducted by one?

I'm a religious person. I don't believe in ghosts, but I have seen things real or not that would make others believe in them. I don't believe in them because everytime I've seen something its extremely hazy, like a dream or hallucination. It's never clear, so I attribute it to something that's in my head only.

Time ta STEP IT UP
Can't say I've had any ghost stories that I can remember of, so I'm not going to talk about ghosts. In fact this post is rather long and it's not about anything scary at all, so you might as well skip this if your looking for something fun to read.

Anyway, I had a really strange and wierd experience once that may or may not have been a result of some kind of dark power. Ok, it was summer and I came home from camp at around 5PM with my mom. I was 13 at the time. On this particular day, it was a nice day out... the wind started picking up really fast and a dark over-cast formed out of NOWHERE in the sky. I mean, it was a gorgeous day that day and then all of a sudden it became real dark and shady out in a matter of minutes. My mom and I found it odd.

We pulled into our driveway, and we saw something on our lawn. I remember that was the first time I cursed in front of my mom and by saying "The fuck is THAT?" It was just a big black entity sitting on our front lawn... I ran out of the car to go inspect what it was, because even then I had a pair of balls. I realized that whatever it was, it was eating a dead ripped-open squirrel who's guts were hanging out of its sides. I then noticed that the big entity I was looking at was a Turkey Vulture. A fucking turkey vulture in Monroe, Connecticut? Insane.

The beast opened its wings to what had to be about a 6 foot wingspan, and flew onto the roof of my house. My cat was outside, I had to make sure I got him inside and FAST... and so I did.

I went inside my house and I was thinking to myself how wierd things were... My mom started dinner and was in the kitchen when even SHE said "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS??"

There was not one, but TWO turkey vultures sitting on the only dead tree in our yard. It was really spooky, and I had to go outside and look at this spectacle. While I'm looking at these two things, a BAT crash lands right onto my porch and my mom freaks out. Keep in mind it's about 5:15 at this point, so bats aren't outside at this time unless they have rabis or something. My mom calls animal control and they come over within 30 minutes. The guy does a half assed job of collecting this bat specimen (I thought he would get bit). Then he looks up at these two turkey vultures and he too says "What the fuck..."

At this point I don't know what's going on. It started getting REAL windy outside and we all decided to go in. My mom made the animal control dude some coffee, when my cat Tiffany (God rest her soul) started SHITTING all over the floor. Now I don't know why she would do that, cuz she was a damn good cat that was potty trained... but she was shitting on my moms kitched floor, and then whiping her ass on the floor and staring at my mom really wierd like. At this point I had had enough.

I honestly thought it was the apolocolypse or something... I know that's a rash judgement on the entire 'ordeal' but what are the chances of all that shit happening within 30 minutes? I can't explain it, and I haven't seen a Turkey vulture around here since but that's about as close as I've come to the paranormal.

By 6:30 the sun was out again
