HDTVTest - LG 2022 TVs leaked including new 42" C2 OLED

Does this mean the C1 will drop in price soon or is that a pipe dream?

Already on sale where I am, the price was discounted just a few days ago.

I'm now watching closely to see if the 48 inch is improved in any way. I think that's the sweet spot for my PC setup given my desk size, 42 would be ok as well but the small price difference doesn't justify the step down.

I can't wait for the 42" model!
I'm interested to see the Sony and LG 42" comparisons. LG has the upper hand on actual gaming features and it isn't close, but Sony has better processing that will give you a little better picture. Interested to see if LG has closed the gap with their new processor. That will be my decision.

What is Sony's equivalent model for the LG 42"?

The A90K (I love the stand design):

They mostly did. Only the 48" model seems to have that stupid stand. They should have ditched it an went with what the bigger sizes have:

The 42" has the feet:

The US prices have been announced too (except the 42", which is coming April 18th according to Value Electronics): https://valueelectronics.com/product/lg-2022-42-48-55-65-77-c2-evo-oled-tv/

83" C2: $5499
77" C2: $3499
65" C2: $2499
55" C2: $1799
48" C2: $1499

My guess is $1299 for the 42".
Feet are better IMO

Best times to buy are around November and March/April. Usually when prices are lowest.

November is when that years' model gets its big sale, then there's the closeout sales next spring (March/April) as the new models release.

LG C1 pricing so far (in the US)

Tempted to get the 42 as a PC monitor but it seems like it will surely be too large, I dunno. Also I would be going from 165Hz to 120Hz. Not sure.

I was hoping the alienware ultra wide was going to be the best option but Ive been put off by some of the colour reports.

i tried using a 42" tv with my PC. it wasn't great. 42" is far too big to have sitting on my desk. i'd only use a display that size if i was siting further away. sometimes i hook my PC up to my 55" tv but that's fine cause i'm on the other side of the room.

for a desktop monitor i wouldn't be going over 32". i had a 32" monitor too and even that felt big but i could've dealt with it. i'm on a 27" monitor now and i think it's the perfect size. i'm not feeling any need for a bigger display. as for refresh rate my monitor is also 165hz but i wouldn't mind going down to 120hz. i have it at 144hz cause i don't feel 165hz is that big a difference. i also wouldn't mind dropping down to 120hz cause it's only 25hz. 120hz is still perfectly enjoyable. both my TVs are 120hz and playing PC games on it is great.

i'd love a 27-32" OLED display. if LG offered one I'd go for it even if it is only 120hz but 42" is too big.

I think I completely agree, I'm on a 27" Asus Rog Swift 165Hz and I love the thing. G Sync module. My only issue is now is that the colour accuracy isnt great etc. I also have my PC running out to a 65" OLED so i am covered for comfy couch Elden Ring sessions. I just want a new beastly monitor to go with my new PC. I had my heart set on that Ultra wide alienware but I need some trust worthy reviews first. 27" seems the sweet spot with 32" being my absolute maximum.

After being disappointed with all the 43" displays out there I got a 48" C1 for my monitor. I have it mounted to a stand behind my desk so it lines up with the rear edge of the desk.

I was afraid it'd be too big but now that I'm used to it, I love it. I wouldn't want anything smaller.

That said, I use it only for gaming. Not sure I would want to use this for work.

I've got 55. That is quite big and due to the size the lower pixels per degree is obvious at 3.5 feet away from the screen but I'm pretty sure 42 would be ok. Obviously if you have your screen directly in front of the keyboard (i.e. not on a wall or at the back of a deep desk) it's going to be too close. The main problem is 4k is actually kind of low res for sitting close to a super big monitor in addition to things like cut scenes that are in the form of heavily compressed video that only look good when sitting far enough away to not see the artifacts (especially on oled). Similarly, open world games where it makes aliasing, low res texture, low geometry objects more obvious.

Still, I'm playing Guardians of the Galaxy right now and it looks good with a level of hdr that is not common on pc monitors. One positive for those using a tv for gaming is there is the option to just sit far away, like in a more comfortable chair (with a controller or whatever). Before I bought a LG OLED specifically for the pc I either had to swap hdmi cable when I wanted to play on the TV or when I had it specifically on a TV it got in the way of playing some mouse/keyboard games with small text.

So it is cheaper than previous posted prices?
Looks to be the same. I know there was a rumor the 42" was going to be the same price as the 48", but that turned out to not be true. The interesting thing is the Sony A90K 42" and 48" looks like it may be the same price as the 42" and 48" C2 going by the reward points on Sony's website. If that's the case, I think I'll just get the A90K.

42 or 48 inch is fine if your keyboard and mouse is 0.7-1m away from the screen.

To be honest I am looking forward to changing my current LCD TV which I have used as a PC Monitor for 10 years.

However burn in risk scares me with OLED.
