Hearthstone |OT9| Our raid wiped in Icecrown Citadel

I retired for now after going 10-0 or 11-0 with Patches Hunter. I think I had two mirror matches but I got to go first both times.

I guess it's a pretty quick way to get 20-30 coins if you need them.

You can kinda argue control deck exist just fine tho

They only just had to eat some q rogue bullet.

Meanwhile this nerf abdolutely made q rogue wont survive any aggro.

That card was a terrible design decision. Obliterating it from this earth would improve Hearthstone. As it is now it just loses a little harder to decks it already lost to, and gives control decks a chance to rush it down before it completes the quest.

I've actually found a new found appreciation for aggro. Not by playing aggro, because that's hideously boring, but it's place in the meta. It's kept these horrible anti-Control decks down and made it possible to play slower Shaman and Paladin decks.

So I'm all for Patches, now.

You need above average quest completion time vs aggro as quest rogue.. now you must do it one turn later and more mana bouncing.. you just dead.

Oh well I want to play my kalimos so its ok personally.

I did Power Word: Glory in the Brawl. Let them build a big board and then render it worthless and win in fatigue. Beat a Macaw Hunter and Mind Blast Priest. It was pretty hilarious.

Loses hard to Jade Druid though lol

Hail to the KING baby
I'm surprised Primordial Glyph wasn't hit. That's probably as complained about as Caverns Below was.

FALSE. Glyph is dope.
rogue quest broken - About 20,200,000 results
primordial glyph broken - About 50,300 results

fuckin' called it, man
Got a dupe legendary from my Brawl pack lol. It was Edwin, it's what I get for enjoying Caverns Below being nerfed. If I had held off on opening it until the change occurred would it apply to a pack I already had?

As someone that's been playing quest rouge 80% of the time since ungoro... decks dead Jim. The deck was Top tier the first half of its lifetime, then people learned to play around it and Fast Aggro decks decimated you just in time, or sometimes RNG was fucking you over since turn 0.

Time to move into pirate warrior and mid range hunter

Or even better... dropping them 8 mana pyroblast mage

Cards are determined when you open the pack, so yes, you would have got a non-repeat but probably not in that same pack depending on how close you were to 40.

I veered away from it over time but QR was the only new deck I picked up from Ungoro, it has a unique way of playing out and more decisions than people give it credit for.

Gonna miss it as it's probably dead jim.

It was my first craft from ungoro so I got a lot of worth out of it but disappointing nonetheless. I quite enjoyed the deck and even facing it never considered it problematic.

We are same, you and I.

Also, re: this tavern brawl: super fun way of getting rid of bullshit quests.

I had a Paladin card quest so I used Grimscale Chum haha. Faced an Explosive Trap Hunter. Would've lost if I didn't get happy Rag.

Haha, I had to think for a second if I played you - I had a secrets quest and I cleared it with Eye for an Eye and then explosive traps. Took two matches because both sucked but both were fun.

Yeah, it was one of the first decks I tried. Sadly post-nerf I suspect a lot of people will never realize the number of decisions that were involved or how inconsistent it could be. I feel that's true of a lot of decks that feel unfair, but that people don't personally try for an extended period.

It removes a polarized match-up, which is good. But there's still plenty of polarized match-up left so not much changes on that front. Control just doesn't have to worry about it anymore.

Deck is done. Already fairly mediocre winrate and thus is a significant nerf. Yeah you can still win with it, but it will be like quest druid where if you manage to not be out of the game by the time you complete and play it then you probably were going to win anyway.

Meanwhile Patches is still around forcing the inclusion of at least 3 cards in any fast to moderately fast archetype. Glyph still an absolutely broken card.

Would agree that I didn't really feel this nerf was necessary. Granted, I haven't really fucked too seriously with Hearthstone since like March so the finer machinations at the top of the ladder I don't usually see but I keep up and I'm just like... really? There's so much that can go wrong and it requires such careful play to do it well.

From a balance perspective it probably wasn't. I don't think it was overly oppressive on control decks. From a design standpoint I don't think it limited the design space any more than cheap minions are already limited (whereas something like Warsong Commander did and Auctioneer does).

But a lot of people don't like playing against it, so maybe it was necessary from a fun perspective. I personally get more annoyed by glyph shenanigans or insane aggro plays, but everybody's different.

I'm not a huge fan of how QR forgoes interacting with the opponent as much as possible until they can just start dropping 5/5s, but decks like Freeze Mage will always be a thing until ice block or Alex is dealt with, Maybe QR makes that feeling more apparent than Freeze Mage and that's an issue. Dunno.

Thought many would do a Jeweled Macaw or Babbeling Book deck in this brawl so I made a Priest Power Word Glory deck. Facing mages with Primordial Glyphs and Ice Lances... Changed it to a Mage Ice Lance deck and only face minion decks.

Then I said fuck it. Made a mage deck with Patches. Opponent conceded before I got my first attack in, got my pack and will use this quest to make the play class cards quest.

Blizzard stays true to predictability, going after combo decks.

I had fun with quest rogue early on, but I have barely touched it since month 1.

Meanwhile, we've had more consistent powerful decks stay atop the meta for weeks that aren't touched.

I know everyone is happy about seeing this deck die, but I really hope this doesn't negatively impact the meta balance. I think there is a strong chance that it will, but maybe miracle rogue will take it's place as the control counter that loses to aggro. Just in a much less polarized way.

And if you guys think this deck can survive this change... I strongly doubt that. Going from average quest complete turn 6 to average complete by turn 8-9 is an insane power difference. Aggro will actually be like a 5% mu and now even something like jade druid can out tempo them regularly. This deck is as dead as warsong commander.

I think jade echos shaman will start to see more ladder play as a result. And my favorite deck miracle rogue is going to be extremely strong once more control decks enter the meta. Losing one of it's worst mu's (quest rogue). And with jade decks likely rising in play, mage will drop of a bit as well, which was it's other worst nightmare. The only thing left to stop it is pirate warrior, which could be cleaned up by the rise of control decks.

Pirate deck not even the worst matchup for miracle rogue its Quest Rogue and the mages that extremely hard and polariżing.

I agree with Quest Rogue gone seems a good time to hit ladder with miracle

It was a unique way of playing the game but was too non interactive.

I wonder if changing it to be like Mistcaller or a buff that goes away if the card is transformed or sent back to hand would've been better.

The day Quest Rogue dies a lot of people are probably going to be trying to play control decks on ladder.

Probably a good day to break this card out:

Its very terrible if your only chance winning is high rolling edwin early and pray they not bouncing freeze in my experience.

Cold blood version has easier time but its seem less convenient for other matchup

But that isn't your only chance at winning. And, I would argue you only need to draw edwin and high rolling is not necessary as a 6/6 is enough.

And you don't need an entire list change for cold blood imo, you just need a single cold blood and it improves the match up enough.

The Crystal Core nerf will make quest warrior a lot more viable as well. I had given up as it was basically a 95% match up, but after a balance check, maybe i'll pick it up again.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
The quests that were already good, but maybe not top tier got a boost from the Quest Rogue nerf.

The quests that were iffy to bad like Lock or Pally didn't really get help.

Played 6 games with Quest Rogue and went 3-3. The last game, I probably should've lost against a Shaman since I didn't complete my quest until turn 11, but Swashburglar gave me Kalimos and once I drew Fire Fly I filled the board with 1/1 Elementals the next turn.

I lost to aggro and bad draws, but if I could complete the quest it was usually a win.

I picked Muzzy, too.

That means I probably cursed him to lose every game. Prepare to get only one pack, boys.

This isn't about quest rogue being too powerful. It is unfun to play against unless you have a deck capable of racing it or handling a board of 5/5's on turn 5. Quite frankly I've been bursted down from full health on turn 5 or 6 so many times I've become immune.

I play a lot of decks that are quite helpless against quest rogues so I'm happy.

It will be interesting to see how the meta shapes up. Do we get more control or more aggro? Maybe a mid-range deck will emerge? Hopefully by the time the dust settles it will be expansion hype time anyway.
