Welp, this thread is now dipping into bayo 3 spoilers, guess I'm out.
Mobile devices offer immediacy 24/7/365, unlike traditional personal computers (PC/Mac).No, I disagree, I believe it's due to social media as it is now. It's the 24/7 feed, immediate audience, and the FOMO.
I still use my smartphone, but I've cut my social media use down dramatically. Because of that, I'm reaching for it less than ever and I feel all the better for it tbh.
why be so petty about something that you aren't even that impassioned about?
Bayonetta is not a big franchise! It’s niche, low sales! Only hardcore gamers like us in these forums know about Bayonetta! Even if some of us know about Bayonetta the action genre of this game has lost a lot luster. IMOKinda makes you think, doesn't it?
I think it's annoying that they don't play video games at all... totally out of touch with the VG industry. As I said in a previous post. My guess based on the latest info and her initial claim is that she somehow came to the wrong conclusion that Bayonetta is a way bigger franchise than it actually is.
Maybe she got fed bad information, she did poor research or just doesnt know much about the gaming industry and doesn't get that bayonetta is a niche franchise with pretty mediocre sales.
But this all reeks of her being upset that they were underpaying her while making hundreds of millions with a massively popular franchise.
Yeah, in my list of mistakes, I forgot to mention calling for a boycott, which I had previously said was a mistake as well. If she was offered a flat 4000, I continue to feel that's crazy low pay for a protagonist, and several people in the industry have stepped forward to agree. The whole thing makes zero sense from any angle. Even before the Schreierening she just looked like she was entitled above the entirety of the staff and stamping her feet because her own self appraisal of her value didn't match up to what others thought.
And now?
But a "professional," would and should know better. Those mistakes could be hurt feelings, but it's not like this was a recorded private conversation. She had to sit down and collect her thoughts. Record it. Possibly re-record it. Sit with it and consciously make the decision to upload it to social media. At any point in time, she could have been like "This is a bad idea," but here we are.
She's already broken NDA anyway so there's nothing stopping her from showing her side of the documentation either.Documentation means fuck all if the only people seeing it is the reporter telling us we should believe him. And i dont trust Jason Schreier at all. For all we know Platinum wrote that shit last night, dated it years ago and "leaked it". And unless there's some proof she ever saw that document anyways it's useless.
In the end it's a bunch if he said she said bullshit. Don't get too invested and just enjoy the spectacle.
That is exactly what I think as well. I think all of this started with the misconception that Bayonetta is a 2 game franchise that somehow made 450M USD. Which is clearly nowhere near accurate. If it was true, then I'd kinda see her point. If it did make those large sums of money, Then you could make an argument that you, as the voice of the main character, deserve a chunk of that.As I said in a previous post. My guess based on the latest info and her initial claim is that she somehow came to the wrong conclusion that Bayonetta is a way bigger franchise than it actually is.

It's not having the mobile device that drives the behavior. That's my point. The immediate audience is on social media, not on your mobile device.Mobile devices offer immediacy 24/7/365, unlike traditional personal computers (PC/Mac).
Huge difference right there...
Hideki Kamiya is back on Twitter!
I stand corrected as well, sounds like reasonable dispute shit that leads to a new VA. Let's go buy Bayo!Yeah, in my list of mistakes, I forgot to mention calling for a boycott, which I had previously said was a mistake as well. If she was offered a flat 4000, I continue to feel that's crazy low pay for a protagonist, and several people in the industry have stepped forward to agree.
At this point, she either needs to come up with some paperwork of her own to show another journalist, or the evidence looks like it's against her. Still don't think she knowingly lied, though. Like you said, none of this makes sense.

I don't care for drama but I did watch the video posted by Hellena Taylor out of curiosity and immediately did not finish the video because I somehow knew she was not being entirely honest. First of all, why was she blinking her eyes so much to the point it was very distracting to me? According to a magazine I recently purchased, it says sometimes blinking a lot more than usual may be an indication of lying. But that is not the only tell-tale sign I picked up on. Just the whole vibe felt wrong and manipulative. I've always been attuned to reading in-between the lines naturally so I'm not as easily fooled by words or fake emotions. Interesting to see this play out from a psychological viewpoint though.
I did enjoy Bayonetta on PC and have not yet played Bayonetta 2 because I'm still wondering if it will ever come to PC and maybe some day Bayonetta 3. So I guess I'm holding out on the rest of the Bayonetta series for now.
Imagine thinking Schreier of all people would help a game company.Documentation means fuck all if the only people seeing it is the reporter telling us we should believe him. And i dont trust Jason Schreier at all. For all we know Platinum wrote that shit last night, dated it years ago and "leaked it". Huh so people fell for white worman's tears AGAIN.

Additionally, I have to ask why voice actors are considered more instrumental to the success of a game than the hundreds of other professions working towards it's success. Saving 90k+ on a VA could pay a developers yearly salary in most of the world. A years worth of dev work could result in multiple features and bug fixes. I would take that over hearing a perfectly familiar voice every time.I have to ask, why? What's the logic behind the argument? Why is $250 - $300/hr "crazy low" for an action game character you haven't heard in a decade, reading an incoherent story and inconsenquential lines? The woman can literally be replaced within a day by a thousand other VA's who could do just as good or better. So what company in their right mind is going to pay someone $50,000 or $100,000+ to do 15-20 hours of work? Why do you expect them to?

Hollywood stars make bank because they bring in bank. Videogame VAs, especially for story-lite action games, not so much.
So she was actually offered 15-25k for 4-5 4 hour recording sessions? And when she refused that they offered her 4k for 1 4 hour session S a cameo?
Whats a person's skin color got to do with it you piece of shit.Huh so people fell for white worman's tears AGAIN.
As a member of the black community.........nah I won't say it I see to many people getting triggered by your post already.Huh so people fell for white worman's tears AGAIN.
Are you saying her ass is grass?
WTF is a TERF?
Kind of off-topic, but I went to see what the "other" place was saying now with the SchREEr news, and apparently twitter has an add on that you can highlight people who have made anti-trans posts or liked a post of somebody that was labeled as anti-trans, and I dunno, the lunacy of the whole thing made me crack up laughing.

Waiting until a week before launch to deliberately try and tank the game that she knows regular devs have worked tirelessly on for years. On top of the bizarre attempt at claiming ownership of the character (the new VO isn’t allowed to sign anything or claim she is Bayonetta?) Obviously she was, and is, a massive headcase.her VA career, however small it is, is over. All the bridges burned. In fact, I highly doubt she'll receive any acting gigs either since productions will fear she might go nuclear on the internet again if she thinks she's being lowballed.
but the balls to ask for 6 figures plus residuals LMAO
Andy Robinson from VGC corroborated that she saw the original offer from Platinum Games. There's nothing indicating that she misunderstood the offer. She even countered the original offer so she knew exactly what it was they were offering. This may be true, but I still doubt that she "lied." I think it's likely she either misunderstood their offer, or something else happened. She seemed to feel genuinely hurt in her video, to the point of making several mistakes that a calculated "lie" wouldn't likely include.
Breaking an NDA, claiming ownership of a character, attacking her replacement to an extent? These aren't things that benefit her, and I'm not aware of her asking for any money either, so I can't see any way she would benefit from an intentional lie.
She’s probably got mental health issues, and I don’t mean that in a flippant way. This may be true, but I still doubt that she "lied." Because you're comparing it to a 9 to 5 job, when it's a contract job. They have to pay well in "bursts," essentially, because they're not dependable. I would also expect her to make considerably more than the standard pay for voice work, because she's in the most important role, doing the most work, and she's already been established as the voice of the character. Why is $250 - $300/hr "crazy low" for an action game character you haven't heard in a decade, reading an incoherent story and inconsenquential lines?
No, quite literally there's only one person who has her exact voice. Once she's played the role in the past, many will expect that voice and want that character to continue sounding like her. Ever watch a Jackie Chan movie that wasn't filmed in English, and that Jackie Chan didn't do his own English dub work for? Hearing the "wrong" voice come out of someone can be really off-putting.The woman can literally be replaced within a day by a thousand other VA's who could do just as good or better.
I would not expect them to. My only opinion has been $4000 is too low for a protagonist to voice an entire game, even if that is only 16 hours of work, because of the value that work brings to the overall product. I never discussed any amount more than that, and I'm not sure what I feel would be fair compensation for such an effort. So what company in their right mind is going to pay someone $50,000 or $100,000+ to do 15-20 hours of work? Why do you expect them to?
Maybe she can body double Amber in court, round 2?well those fake tears will be much better in the theater indeed
You're clearly not familiar with white women's tears or how they get the most benefit of the doubt of any race or gender.Whats a person's skin color got to do with it you piece of shit.
Kamiya was telling the truth this whole time.
By the way if this gets you in trouble Kamiya just let me know and I will delete it.
I agree having a smartphone is easily more convenient than sitting at a desk via a PC. Social media was made for the ease of use of smartphones, so it was inevitable that social media would grow exponentially.Again:
Smartphones offer immediacy, unlike a regular PC.
It's not that hard to understand it...
I've been using social media since 2007 and it was never as bad as it is now. Find the difference.
