Just played with NukeFDukem. First match we join these pubs pick 4 more melee carries, and we made the excuse one of our team was afk and we got a pass on a remake. Second match we win. 3rd match MrMr mentors me and there is all these mouse movements confusing me (both our mics don't work for some reason), NukeFDukem is spamming all these Moonmeander macro taunts and getting into fights and kicking a guy on our team lol.
The joys of 1500 MMR.

Hey why can't I join you guys in TMM?
If you're trying to play some "high tier" games why don't you actually invite me and let me prove to you I'm not "low tier"?
No dodging.
Thanks and truly I do miss the old days. Yes, I will have to eventually move to DotA 2, especially if S2 doesn't get their act together, but with all the time (and not to mention money) invested I still feel that we need to stick together for a little longer, but I'm sure we're past that point after DotA 2's beta and the holiday season has passed us. Either way I'll squeeze as much as I can out of HoN anytime I play it. I'll be damned if I'll ever get used to how slow DotA 2 is though.I haven't played Hon in 2 months so you must just be talking about loki and bzm. I've played maybe 2 games of dota2 in the last 2 weeks too. I know you've invested a lot of time (and maybe some money too) into HON but I think now is really the perfect time for you to play a completely different game... like SWTOR!
Nearly everyone on HonGAF can see where the game is headed and while we all loved the game for a couple of years or so we're not married to it and can definitely enjoy other games in our free time. I imagine that if most people wanted to wait for a new hero to come out every couple of weeks, some reskins, and barely-there balance changes they would just play dota2 instead of paying up for the privilege in Hon. The community has more hype for it and there are tons of people to play with at any tier. In fact, why don't you join some of the IHs they play or group up with some GAFfers for TMM there instead? I'm not going to lie MrMr; you're way better than some of the people I've played with from GAF and after reading some bits of the dota2 thread I'm amazed at how bad some people can play and yet be vocal about ignoring advice or calling out other people.

Pretty hard for me to compete with Allison Brie though, gonna have to get implants.also lone_prodigy has the best avatars, allison brie is way better than real life swag, k-pop avatars and whatever the hell kag's avatar is (not a car).
I know I'm not HON-Gaf but I like browsing this thread from time to time to see what you guys talk about. MrMister, honest question: What turns you off of Dota 2? I played very briefly with you and never got the chance to get to know you outside of a few lines in mumble. Any of the other pure HoN players like Swiftlame can answer too. I'm seriously just curious, no judgements attached. I ask because I'd love to see better players start joining in GAF games to help raise the skill level.
I play with a group of Korean and Chinese friends in Dota1 and they haven't yet transitioned over to Dota 2 due to the hero pool, so I spend most of my time helping out the lower and mid-tiered gaffers with the basics and captaining some actual teamwork to give them a taste of what it's like. I could be ringing for some friends in their scrimmage matches but quite frankly, I'm not interested in doing clan wars with anyone but, well, my clan. I definitely get the itch to play with people who just know what to do from time to time though (players like Swag help alleviate this), and I've heard enough about Swiftlame/Loki/Thor to make me want to play some games with them and get some friendships going.
So. Anything specifically holding you guys back from Dota 2? You guys think you're ever going to transition over?
yeah wtf is up with that anywayhow original
get good kid, you're trash.

On your brand new laptop? or your old one?
If it's a brand new one with an nvidia card I'd check if you have the correct drivers or if the video card is actually being used. The Optimus power saving/gpu switching system is usually the culprit and you may need to manually specify that the GT5XX gpu should be used when running hon.exe or dota2.exe
(nice swindle community account)
I have my suspicions about whom it might be, but at this point it's whatever. Did Ikuu hook up Swiftlame with one of his? I sure hope so, gosh I felt so bad.
yeah wtf is up with that anyway
There's no clan channel, and even just joining the neogaf channel by default involves a textfile edit.
It's the brand new one, and yes it is an nvidia card. I should probably download drivers (I didn't touch the default ones), but how do I manually specify the nvidia card for the exe files? Also, do you have to uninstall old NVIDIA drivers before downloading new ones?
I'm working on it!!Although when I do have people to play with, it seems like the games are getting worse and every time it makes me lose interest in the game.
For what it's worth, I definitely appreciate the advice. Not so much the rare snark, but the advice is greatCome at me
This is the realest fucken talk of all time, it seems like you try to teach basic concepts to Dota GAF and they take it in for a night, but then completely revert the next day, I don't understand it. Not to mention the myriad of posts in the thread every single day asking the same questions constantly, most of them can honestly be answered with a little self researchThe dotagaf people also don't seem to want to get significantly better. They watch high-level games but still play like low-level publics. They don't seem to have priorities in line to play like winners. There was a game I played in hon where I supported for Swiftlame and literally the only thing I did was stand at and stack ancients for about 10-15 minutes so we could win. It was winning uber alles, which is not something I think the lower level dota players understand. When I hear Dr Kirby bragging about low level ice armour, I know that i want to get away from that.
I don't perceive it as elitism, kagete (even though I might have acted like that in the Dota 2 thread, honestly can't remember, but it was all in good fun if I did). Like I said, I had no understanding of why you guys avoided gafhouses, and now I'm starting to get a very good idea of why you guys don't. I appreciate all the responses. I still think you guys should play, because, like I said, you're awesome people and would be a positive addition to the community. If I didn't give a shit about playing with you guys, I wouldn't bother going out of my way to post in this thread and ask you guys about it. And it still confuses me why you choose matchmaking over inhouse.
Kapura: I understand, I really do (although I gotta admit that you are *harsh* when you talk to new players sometimes. Understandable, but undeniably harsh). But I love to tryhard (one reason I love to play captain's mode) -- I just feel that it hasn't been appropriate in the new-player-central Dota 2 gaf. If HoNgaf were to stack and take a game seriously in an inhouse, I'd rally 1.09, Hyuna, and others and we would have serious tryhard games. I've been trying to get them to get mumble, and I'll push for them to get it now, because they're the type of players I think HoNgaf would like. Definitely would not be a massacre, and definitely would be a ton of fun.
And yeah. Botolf and co. are great people to play with and I always enjoy mming with them.
This probably has more to do with it being on the gaming side. Also the community suffers heavily because it has a moderator that actually moderates, need Moody to take over moderating that thread.
how original

Tom, if you ever wanna play, just hit me up on Steam. I'm happy to do some games with you. Pretty sure I have you added.
I getcha pro. Hopefully the 6.73 changes help Dota move towards a quicker paced metagame. IceFrog has displayed great interest in moving away from the farmfests of old, and he's been doing it slowly but safely and surely. Still, it'll never be as quick as HoN, but the idea is to find a happy medium.
Either way, I notice when HONgaf DOES play Dota 2, they isolate themselves from the rest of GAF, and for the most part, they never participate in inhouses. Why is this? I don't understand. If you guys want to all be in the same party, do it. Hell, I encourage premade teams in inhouses (much to the dismay of low/mid-tier gaf). Neki, bzm, Procarbine, Kagete, Anbokr, Kapura, Tomat, whatever, feel free to all stay on the same team in an inhouse. Stick together. Make it HONgaf versus the rest of gaf, I don't care. I don't buy the complaint that there are too many new players, you're a part of the problem by being a vet and actively avoiding inhouses. We have enough decent players to get some seriously good games going. Swag vs Milk captain's mode inhouse games were an alright start, but we can do much, much better.
I want us to be one big, happy (or bloody violent) MOBA family.
that kid cant handle real talkAlso the community suffers heavily because it has a moderator that actually moderates, need Moody to take over moderating that thread.
pft, theyre garb now anywayThe real question is would kagete be able to get Thor and Loki away from WoW to have Fullforce HoNGAF team represented.
im surprised no one else said anythingTeehee
I actually PM'd Nirolak and he told me that games with a Beta usually get thrown into Gaming instead. He said they will move it when the beta is rumored to go Open in February. LoL is only there because of EviLore. This probably has more to do with it being on the gaming side.
This is pretty much how I feel about DotA 2. 6.73 probably will speed up the meta-game, which is a start, but it's the overall pacing and engine that needs work. The reason why we still go back and play hon is because it feels more fun. Animations are faster and smoother, and hon's changes to push forward an early game/roaming meta make the game a lot more enjoyable than 60 minute dota games over and over.
For me it's mostly the animations, the way they look and feel just seems so much smoother than dota, where everything feels slow and stuttery.
