It'd be nigh impossible for him to function as a solo support in HL, even, let alone QM as it works now...which is probably why he has that Q damage ability. With them making him a specialist, he fucks up nothing in QM but can still be used however players feel they need to.

They don't - different portraits for the last three tiers. Of the four portraits they show, the first is for anyone rank 50 to 11. The other three are for ranks 1, 2 to 5 and 6 to 10.

Yep I haven't felt motivated to play it in months. My rank/MMR on my main account is shit now due to playing with my friends that I got into the game. If it was real ranked I wouldn't have done that kind of stuff.

Yes - because they have to heal. That makes them a lot harder to design than traditional MOBA supports.

I also suspect they aren't big sellers - support has always been the role that fewest people want to play, particularly in HotS where it lacks playmaking abilities.

I got into Alpha in May 2014 on a secondary/smurf account I had registered (not my main WoW account). I leveled up to 40 in early Alpha playing basically only Lili and Tassadar cause they were OpieOP. They released artifacts and even though it was only a week, I was like fuck this game after trying Artifacts out...

Somewhere in there they did an account reset. Fast forward a few months, still in Alpha, I level my secondary account all the way up to account level 39 again...and then they finally invited my main account to alpha. Never looked back, hammered it to get the account level 40 before Alpha ended like a month later.

They gave out portraits, as you implied in your post. My main account has Alpha/Alpha 40/Beta/Beta 40...my secondary, which has been tied to HOTS longer? Alpha/Alpha 40/Beta/no Beta 40 because of that goddamn reset. Level fucking 39. It makes me sad too. Wish I'd just taken one day and finished it off even though I never use those portraits.

Sounds about right. Other than monk, which people thought they could do damage and DPS with at first (and was much hyped), I bet they sell like shit compared to the assassins and specialists. And nothing tops the mages other than the iconic heroes like Sylvanas I'd venture.

All of the Overwatch supports seem like easy fits for HotS. Especially Lucio and Zenyatta, while Mercy would be maybe a little too much like Khara and Morales though I guess that kind of stuff is inevitable.

I think that's part of the issue with supports, though. Requiring the healing makes them inevitably overlap in a way that the other heroes don't necessarily have to. Like, several heroes might have a Q that does damage like Frostbolt (Medivh's, for example), but the rest of the kit can be radically different.

On a support, the heal is the biggest part of the kit for better or worse so if it's too similar it feels worse IMO.

I do think Zenyatta and Symmetra would be baller in HOTS though.

What's your QM MMR?

If you are 2700 or above and play that way through placement, odds are you'll be above rank 10 once you come out of placement. If you're a little lower, you'll be pretty close and still have about 30-40 matches at least where you get bonus points on wins as it tries to find your MMR.

Chromie basically has Bubble Hearth? She looks like a lot of fun. Medivh basically looks like he's there to shut down backline heroes like Morales and Li-Ming with the Leyline ult and like he can be clutch at stopping burst damage ults like Pyroblast and Tripletap with his W. Medivh's bird form flying over structures, the portals, holy shit.

I'm glad they classified Medivh as a specialist even though he basically looks like a support. He has a lot of interesting looking support abilities--damage mitigation, vision, mobility that ignores structures, porting teammates a short distance for ganks or escapes, shutting down backline units with one ult or a hilarious teamfight Polymorph bomb--and there won't be cries to turn him into a healbot because of the Specialist classification. He looks like he could be a lot of fun to play.

Yup, Arcane Rift has a 1 second CD if you hit a hero with it and a 7 second CD if you don't. So that could make him a strong laner but horrible at split-pushing an empty lane since AR is his only offensive ability.
