there's multiple ways they could fix it

they could add more roles like bruisers, supports, healers, siege.

they could let people pick their role when queing up. (ie. I pick tyrande and then I get two check boxes, one for damage, one for healer. Or if I pick rexxar i would get an options for dps/specialist/tank)

They could just make QM blind pick, where you get matched with 4 people first and can see what heroes your teammates want to play before locking yours in.

I'm down with these.

I wish they'd set it up like WoW raid finder/dungeon finder just like The Core podcast suggested.

You queue up as the roles you are willing to play...it puts you into a lobby when it's found a match and you are only able to pick heroes that can perform that role. Problem solved.

Give healers and tanks incentive with more gold or what have you.

healers and tanks will have more incentive just by having shorter que times.

That's what they thought in WoW too, but it never works that way lol.

They have shorter queue times right now in reality, probably, but no one plays em.

Ya I can tell you from WoW that it simply doesn't work that way lol. Dps queues like 40 minutes. If they put gold incentive it might help. I'd certainly do it, but I already play supports and tanks mainly.

I'd warrior all the time if I could ever stop getting specialist and support quests.

That is one of the issues with the system. The way they monetized it and everything else encourages you to play multiple heroes and complete those quests.

I don't know why I blanked on Xul.

They could "fix" Quick Match by adding a 1 min Draft with no bans. Then it's up to the players to make the shitty comps.

that will always be the case. no matter what you do.

Of course it will. But if we have 250,000 players (just throwing that number out there, I have no clue), and we can convince even 5% of those players to queue as tank or heals a couple nights a week instead of pew pewing, then it's worth it.

And at least a few thousand would be willing to do it. Considering you only need 1 healer for QM (and don't even necessarily need a tank, though it's ideal), that would make a lot of people's games better.

I'm sure unranked draft will come...but if it's in this I'd be completely surprised. Browder has only seemed to recently come around to the necessity of it.

yea and i'm saying you'll get that 5% to pick tank/support just so they dont have to wait in a 6 minute que.

Its just insane that there's no way to play draft mode with your friends. I'm certain they will implement it in some way. I'd honestly be cool with them just dropping quickmatch off a damn cliff, fuck that mode

Sure 5% will do that. And a little carrot will get another 5% as well.

Crazy how further incentivizing things works on people. Almost like magic. Or do double EXP week/weekends not make people level up more heroes? Oh yeah, it does do that, it do.

It's basically the same thing as EXP weekends, not sure what there is to argue about to be honest.

You can add all sorts of systems and incentives but at the end of the day, a lot of players are stupid and/or selfish. I mean look at Overwatch, it has a pretty brilliant role evaluation system at match start and people pretty much flat-out ignore it. You don't have any/enough builders/support/tanks on defence, and this is clearly displayed on the side of the screen, yet they still double down on multiple Tracers/Ninja-dude/Arrow Guy/Shithead Cowboy.

You could have people bonus queue as a solo-support, not build support/heals and fuck over their team. That's happened in enough of my games, both on my team and the enemy team. It always costs that team the game. "I'm going DPS Malf" Face, desk.

Of course. There's always assholes and shitty people. But WoW has proven giving a small incentive on top of the queue time will get at least some people to swap roles, so I don't see what the harm in it is. Of any MOBA, this is the one that could basically mirror that same kind of incentive based thing. It's not there to convince everyone, it's just there to up the percentage of supports and tanks and it would do that.

People go support in r1 hero league and then build DPS now. Assholes are gonna asshole. To me that's not really an argument against the incentive, that's just the hazards of the business itself.

The notification alone is helpful even more so in a game that doesn't take a month to reach lvl 100 on a new char.

Jake is uploading a vid with the news tomorrow 8 PDT (same time as grubby 17:00 CEST)

This is one of the things that frustrates me about the talent system in HotS versus items/economy in Dota. If a support player doesn't play proper support in Dota there are heroes where I can buy support items like a Mekanism (AoE heal plus stats/armor for carrier), Arcane Boots (AoE Mana burst mana regen) or a Force Staff (displaces holder or target by moving them forward, plus int stats) to supplement the lack of proper support without being a detriment to my heroes build. I can counter someone's bad item build with a decent one, or at least make up for it.

In HotS I'm dependent on support players picking a talent like Cleanse, in Dota I can farm a BKB to grant myself temporary immunity. It's harder to have individual success or counter someone's bad choices in HotS versus Dota.

What bracket are you playing in that you're dependent on supports picking Cleanse? Shit, people pick it all the time at 3k MMR and still can't do it right or don't use it, etc. I can't really think of anything other than the heroics that you are really truly boned by on most supports.

Honestly as team based as this game is, even if you could still do items to shore up a weakness to that degree you'd still get waxed if your team sucked. The issue for me is more about how reliant you are on the weakest link of your team regardless of what they talent or whatever. If you're too slow/make bad plays/etc, won't matter if you netdeck your build.

QM is a plague on society but they're never getting rid of it. Blizzard's priority has always been accessibility and i believe Jeff Kaplan has stated a few times (regarding all of their games) when an issue like this comes up, they'd rather players be mad at the game (HoTS matchmaking in this case) instead of players mad at each other just because they picked the hero they wanted despite jeopardising the team's comp.

unranked draft is my most requested feature, was my fav mode in LoL.

Let's do this.

EDIT: Grubby is doing the best trolljob in his stream with the baiting. You guys were right, he IS the best HOTS streamer. I'm sold now.

Grandmaster league is coming. Bronze to Grandmaster league. 5 tiers in each one just like League of Legends.

EDIT: Starts in mid June. June 17th.

Khaldor interviews Browder about the new rank system and MMR changes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrA2JP-FAwc

Seasons set to last 8 to 12 weeks. Damn, that's quick. Pretty good incentive to keep playing.

this also counts highest achieved?

Cause I fell out of 18 and don't feel like climbing back with my current games.

I dunno about that. I know the future ranked system does. Not sure if the rewards for the past stuff do though.

Arthas rework makes him tier S according to Grubby. Not sure if serious or not, but he seems to be a true believer.
