Checkpoint: Hanamura is this weeks brawl.

Shuffle Pick
At the start of the match, you’ll choose one of three available Heroes, but choose quickly, you only have 30 seconds!

Reduced Death Timers
Hero death timers will all be reduced to 9 seconds, or 12.5 seconds during overtime

No talents. No levels.
All players will start at level 10 and choose a Heroic ability, but nothing else

Pumped up Health Packs
Health Packs can be found around the Battleground which will instantly restore 50% of total Health and Mana to the player that walks over it

Checkpoints? Check.
Reaching a Checkpoint will grant additional capture time for the attacking team

Escort your payload to its destination or defend the enemy push to claim victory!

Played those last night and defending is so much easier than pushing the payload. 2 out of 3 times we pushed the payload to the last section but the route to respawning is so close to the respawn point of the defending players the final push is almost impossible.

The 1 time I was on defense they didn't even get to the first checkpoint.

It seems all the league pros actually enjoy the game? Gonna be good exposure if they stick around.
No shot, but it's nice to see they don't hate it. Playing two MOBAs is impossible, and their fans would get pissed if they left LoL. However it's great publicity for HOTS

I was sort of part of the problem tonight.

Some OW friends got a full group together with me and we threw games on purpose because my MMR was so high they just kept getting rekt. Had a lot of fun throwing once we committed, though. Taught them how to B-step and BM the opponent, and even ran some Cho'Gall so we could kill them while they ran all over us due to feeding. Hopefully our opponents enjoyed the two free wins on their way to a D.Va skin.

V keys take a beating in Heroes of the Storm. RIP the letter V.

Granted I wasn't there, and I'm all about the luls, but that actually kind of bummed me out just now

Dehaka has always been a hero I wanted to play and be decent with and last night I feel like everything clicked. That poor enemy KT got so many tongues.

Dehaka is my favorite hero. Love the play style of split pushing and tunneling in to surprise some back liner and just delete them.

Srey did a video on Genji, raised some good points that makes me rethink the way I play him.

I hadn't really considered D talent at 1 but seeing it in action it does give you a free engage, also gotta have to try master Shingan the damage really does look good.

Still trying to get the hang of genji but this is basically the build ive settled on

My fave characters still illidan and medivh and zeratul i guess

My mind is blown at the difference between how CORE's John's voice sounds versus what he looks like. I think Milly mentioned this before but I never really paid attention. I thought he was a really little dude. I almost felt like I was listening to a voice over.

I may be able to get on for a bit in the evening. Tomorrow though, going ham.

I'm still waiting at my computer by the phone from that time you were gonna get on earlier this week after putting the baby to bed.

Something interesting with Genji is that I checked his winrates on hotslogs after wstching tue vid and Dodge has a significant Winrate advantage over the much more popular Deflect CD. It's over 10% IIRC at diamond and master.

Genji reminds me of tracer, in that the best counter to him teleporting into your backline is steady sustained damage. Makes sense to me that the talent which gives him ace AA defence is the best one.

Overall it's the one I have taken the most at that tier, though I had begun switching to the Deflect talent. Maybe I should hold off on that.

Dodge is really strong, i disagree w/ srey on the cdr w talent, you only need 5 hits for max value and that isn't difficult at all. The talent lets you do a rotation of agile -> auto q w -> your d is back up and your w is back up soon too. The tier is situational but cdr is very valuable on genji

Oh u know what ppl at his tier are prob less trigger happy and slam the s button during deflect so maybe that explains it

Proto says I sound like jon

Nah. Maybe your voice isn't quite as deep as most, but you have generic college dude voice as much as I have generic Texan/southern drawl. That dude's voice is like the dude who works in a library, or somewhere similar, and their whole purpose for existence is to correct others while pushing up their glasses. Not saying he does that, just that's the kind of voice he has.

Yep that's sort of what I was imagining but IRL he's a big dude.

Did Matchmaking go to shit or what? I thought this was a game about comebacks I've seen nothing but stomps in QM since 2.0 hit. Bullshit.

IIRC I can't remember a time when you have been active in thread that you weren't complaining about matchmaking to be honest, lol, but with that said, yes it is particularly bad at the moment due to all the new players.

I don't know what MMR level you play at, but it literally only takes a new player winning ~3 games in a row to start to be considered roughly Platinum in QM MMR, and if they manage to win >60/70% or so they are pushing into Diamond or higher. That's there as sort of a catch all for smurfs to prevent them just farming new players, but at a time like this when there are so many new players it can become a detriment.

I thought so too ... he's not!?

This is going to sound really mean but the only constant in every match is you. You just came back from a long break so maybe you are rustier than you think. Matchmaking is probably having a little bit more trouble than usual placing people with all the influx of people coming back to heroes. After a while, it should settle down but instead of looking at every loss with a negative impression maybe think what you could have done differently in some situations and build from there.

I'd at least like to fucking see enemy teams that have more coordination than my allied hamster farm(?). Hopefully it really isn't just me.

My major point of contention is that before 2.0 hit there were comebacks, I had a relatively steady 50-55% winrate, and according to Hot-Slogs I am/was Diamond. Guess I'll just stick to AI where this bullshit almost never ever pops up. At least the stomp goes the other direction consistently.

Does anyone ever take matchmaking complaints seriously? Is it always "lol no its u"?

I mean, you're literally in here cursing and complaining about every match being a potato farm. If you're got turds, they've got turds too. That's how the system works.

Looking at the 4 games of yours that have been uploaded this season, they are all within acceptable MMR ranges. Less than a hundred, at that. You're 1-3 in those matches and in two of those losses your team had the higher MMR. Even with MMR being more or less equal, however, you've still got discrepancies in comp and in skill level on the particular hero being played, including your own. And if you're not on a hero that can make up for whatever deficiencies the team has (ie: if you don't have good damage and wave clear), then the problem is what you're queuing as just as much as who you're queued with. That's the tradeoff of QM. You can play whoever you want, but you have to suffer the consequences if that hero doesn't have much utliity.

If you want to avoid new OW players (though it doesn't look like you're hitting them or hitting many), then step into Unranked or Hero League. Either one will get you away from the new players, will also give you a legit comp 98% of the time, and some semblance of coordination.

Fair enough.

The data says it's a fair match then so be it, however there has been for me a noticeable uptick in straight-up stomp games, winning or losing. I thought HotS was a game about making comebacks and have the core game mechanics present an opening for the losing team so despair doesn't set in and people start giving up mid-match one-by-one. Yet here I am today playing with my good friend trying to have some fun (which we still did) and in the 6 matches we just played, all of them were a stomp, no chance for the other team to make it back, 5 losses and 1 win, and I have to wonder if it really is just us. It's just sad I really don't want to go back to vs AI, but I almost get more XP playing stupid little AI matches instead of losing in less than 10 minutes in PvP (oh, and the fact the quest forces you to QM or Draft sucks anyways). If anything I wouldn't be complaining if I didn't feel there was an issue.

Also, a side-note I just finished uploading more recent replays from my folder including the aforementioned games to Hot Slugs.

Qm is a mode based on rng and so are the mmrs in that mode to a certain extent, stomps should be frequent

Not that id say it's any better in unranked or anything, just that qm is systemically this way

Comebacks are possible in coordinated settings but they aren't handed to you for free. You can say split up in a safe to catch up in XP, force fight on equal talent tiers to pick a hero or two to catch up, make the enemy overextend so that you can collapse on them and destroy structures. You can also pick off isolated heroes on the map, take a chance on the boss while they are busy taking a low impact objective.

Sometimes, there's nothing you could do because either people are trying a hero they aren't mechanically up to par, people throwing themselves at a lost objective because hey my team died there I better be a solid pal and do the same, just plain toxicity splitting everyone apart or hey having a special snowflake running around and not trying to help the team in any way.

Without seeing the replays there's not much we can do to help except saying we aren't experiencing the same thing as you in general.

The biggest thing i've noticed is with the influx of new players, QM has become hyper-aggressive and people are over-extending a lot. So it can lead to quicker / more thrown matches as that can snowball if people don't adjust their behavior (i'm lookin' at you, Raynor who died 11 TIMES in the first 10 minutes of my match last night). It seems like having a decent warrior who can survive the initial over-aggressive push, or *any* sort of healer who knows a basic modicum of their character, and you're pretty much fine.

It also presents some interesting opportunities for specialists. I've never been so un-harried and un-molested playing Xul doin' Xul push things, or Sylvanas, etc. Split pushing is super-easy at the moment because a lot of the new players are just trying to murderball from minute one.

Still, it's QM, it's random, it's always been the most swing-y of modes, so whatever. No point in complaining about your new player team-mates doing stupid stuff because there's new players on the other team doing equally stupid stuff. Moving over into Unranked takes away a ton of the randomness. I actually am kind of enjoying the current QM chaos.

Anyone want to help a newbie out? Need to get the first quest (genji skin) done, and learning the game, mainly as a support.

named mrAntimatter on blattlenet as well.

I've been playing a MOBA for the first time in over two years.

It's HOTS.

It feels like Super Smash Brothers - Blizzard MOBA edition. I love it.
