Hey artistic GA! You've been eyeing the Cintiq but can't afford it's high pricetag?

How about $300 for a decent knock off?

I tested it out myself, and it works as good as my old Cintiq 15X (check out the links for more details).

Would it be possible to use this as a dual-screen setup with a PS/etc program?

Like have the panel be the canvas and set up shitloads of toolbars/layers/previews/etc on the main screen?

I LOVE YOU.

Now I don't have to prostitute myself... or steal yours.

One should always leave the prostitution option open. Just in case of a rainy day.....

Unfortunately the problem here is that you will have to switch to the mouse to use the pallettes and toolbars. Not very practical. In my old days when I was using the Cintiq 15X, I had dual monitors going so that I can isolate the canvas all by itself to the 15X, but I had a second tablet to control the second monitor and tools.

See that second tablet to the right of the Cintiq? That was the Wacom USB PenPartner that used the same pen frequency as the 15X. This is what made the dual monitor set up with the 15X practical. There is no panoview tablet you can buy seperately to do the same with the PI-500.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that back in those days, Painter 7 had a very gimpy method of hiding the pallettes (CTRL + H), which required contorsion of your free hand. Now with Painter 8 and 9, all you need to do is press the TAB key, which is exactly like how Photoshop's been doing it. This makes the need for dual monitor mostly moot IMO.
