Hey GAF, How Do You Properly Cancel A PS Plus Subscription?

Keep in mind that part of my surprise in the situation was simply because I am not used to subscriptions that do this. For example, I don't have live gold, but occasionally I have month codes given to me, and I use them when I want to take advantage of a sale. As soon as I'm done though, I end it. You can either let it not renew and let it expire (cancel renewal), or you can end it on the spot (true premium membership cancellation); I usually do the latter.

Again, thanks to the community, I am now more informed of the differences. If I have time today, I still might try and give Sony a call to see if there are any other options; never hurts to ask, right?

Why not actually take advantage and play one of the free games instead of being so offended at something you got for free, and you have a further 13 days of FREE service? This is a good thing, why are you making such a big deal of it? Enjoy it while it lasts and then go back to your non-subscription ways afterwards.

Truthfully, I don't do many subscriptions, or trials to them. When I do, it's usually amazon prime trials, which I do cancel (and I mean cancel, as in chat with an amazon rep to cancel the remaining time too). So no, I am not that learned on the matter truthfully speaking.

Wat?

Is this a joke thread? :<

I... I'm going back to bed.

Hang on guys...I'd type more but I'm on the line with taco bell customer service. I'm BERATING the manager right now because I ordered and paid for one AM crunch wrap but they gave me two...

I truly don't understand this reaction. All I wanted to know was if I was doing things right on my part (as I've previously stated), and what my options were, that's it. Thanks to a few posters, I was able to get the information I needed.I also learned about how consumer friendly/unfriendly some subscription services are and the options behind them. I am glad I got the info I needed, but I don't understand the ridicule. There's nothing funny about feeling misled by an offer due to incorrect-use of wording, and there's nothing wrong with expecting a cancellation to mean just that, yet now that I better understand the PSN policies I can deal with it. What I don't understand is some of the reactions in this thread, I consider it immature.

Honestly, to those that provided me with answers, thanks a lot; you have given me peace of mind that I will not be charged.

I think you and the rest of the internet have completely opposite definitions of what consumer unfriendliness is.

Just let Huelen10 do what he/she wants. I don't get why everyone cares so much about what one person chooses to do, which doesn't affect them in any way.

If you want the prompts for auto upload to go away, hit yes when you launch the game. Next time you launch that game they won't prompt you to set that up.

But I'm guessing that would make you mad.

Why dont you back up your saves while you can?

also, drama queen is gonna drama queen...

EDIT: ok, maybe that was harsh, sorry. It's not a big deal, but you're right on the account that when you go for "cancelling the subscription" and you are cancelling the auto-renewal while the subscription stays on. It makes you wonder if you actually cancelled it. But there's no need to make too much fuss about it, sony screwed up big times in the last generation, Plus is maybe their only durable victory.

Maybe you should just save that customer service rep some time and not call.

Ummm, because this is a public forum and the OP asked for its input? Frankly I'm shocked people have even wasted time trying to help. This is absolutely one of the dumbest rants I've encountered on the internet. Ignore the shit if it so-called bothers you so much. Simple. Or, you know, take advantage of the remaining days like any other normal person would.

Lol and now OP plans to call Sony with this asinine complaint. I truly hope this is some elaborate troll. In which case, well done.

*I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but if you fear being charged on day 14 you can easily REMOVE the billing information with one click of a button. Not necessary, but maybe this can provide the peace of mind you claim to so desperately seek.*

Honestly.... what is the difference between letting it play out versus cancelling immediately?

Isn't the cloud save prompt a one time per title thing?
I don't understand how the OP makes it through life if this is their annoyance threshold.

I think OP is annoyed by the prompt asking if he would like to backup his saves when he starts a new game... The fact that OP would waste their own time calling Sony to look into cancelling the remaing days on the trial is so weird to me. Those kind of calls always take long time, especially since the first responce he will get is undoubtedly, that the sub will run out on its own. The Sony person won't understand why OP is asking what he's asking or think OP is confused about something and he'll end up on hold.

Ohhhhh, is that why they're upset? Lol. This thread is still melodramatic but I can understand being annoyed by the prompt if you assume it'll keep asking. Thing is, OP, it only happens the first time you launch a game.

Wouldn't it just be easier to avoid the call and just let the subscription run out? I fail to see why it's so important to void what you've "paid" for.

$10 too much. Wait for BF.

currently have two years and a third year card not yet used.

Yes, this is the way to do it. I stocked up and got 4 years at $30 each last Black Friday. Best gaming related money I have ever spent.
