The Only thing that pisses me off is that I got a PS3 knowing that it had Blu-ray and that I could own Batman Begins on BR. Sure it wasn't the only reason why I bought the damn ps3 but it's a damn sure good one.

But anyway, now APPARENTLY Batman Begins will never appear on Blu Ray?

WTF.

I don't want to BUY another player just so I can watch my favorite movie.

er, Batman is Warner, who are still neutral.

Anyone ever been to Walmart and seen just how fast there 5.00$ dvd bin gets refilled?
Thats the future when you get the average consumer spending, whoever comes out with a cheap Hd machine will get the win until then DVDs are going to continue to be the way to go.

I mean we shop at walmart at least 1 per week and we see more 5.00,7.50 dvds go faster then either of the other formats heck most consumers do not even ask if they have BR or HDDVD so that tells you how much this format war really means.

Or how about the fact they sold 300 for less then 14$ at release but the HD versions were all around 20+ guess which got sold faster and which is still sitting.

spider-man 3...will it have legs for blu-ray?
honestly, fuck this format war! i'm glad i don't have time to watch movies at home. just time to play games plus games get your frontal lobe working along with your occipital and temporal and parietal lobes. watching movies? meh, most of the lights are coming from occipital lobe. ignore this rant people.

I'm sure Bay will do Transformers 2 if given the chance, money talks. This is an unfortunate situation. For those of you that are happy with this news, well you strike me as fanboys. I'd rather have Blu-Ray win the war, but I wouldn't mind if HD-DVD wins outright so I can get an HD-DVD player and be done with it (even though I have a PS3 already). If this were the final nail in the coffin for Blu-Ray then I would be happy, but it is far from that.

Well good for Paramount I guess.

Won't get me to buy a HD DVD player because I now get 2-3 movies less a year that interest me.

I would only buy an HD DVD player which is afordable and does 1080p and 24p but such a device does not exist.

Michael bay pretty much says "FU Paramount! No Transformers 2 from me!" :lol :

Wow this move apparently pissed off a LOT of people !!
Seriously even a movie director says it's totally absurd......Great Paramount/Viacom, just great.

:lol Just a hint of irony.

I'm not sure why some of you are caterwauling, anyway. This is a gaming forum. Most of you will have a 360 and a PS3 at some point whether that's now, next year or 5 years from now. You're obsolete-proof in terms of HD movies. You'll have the full selection of movies whether they're HD-DVD or BR, and the machines to play them on. Wipe your tears.

Cue the HD-DVD fanboys calling Michael Bay a whore for his opinion, won't take 2 hours to happen . . . nevermind, went to AVS, has already happened.

The only whores in this situation are Paramount who would rather whore themselves out in an anti-consumer move of accepting cash incentives rather than help in actually ending the format war.

Just no.

The 360 is way to loud for HD DVDs. (sold the damn thing because of that)

There is no 1080p/24 HD DVD player in existence. Why bother with less visual quality?
I know one HD DVD player over here that does 1080p (no 24p) and it costs 509€. So I don't see how it could see me buying into the other format any time soon.

Yeah maybe tha twill chang ein 5 years but who wants 2 formats for their movies?

:lol :lol :lol Way to go Bay. :lol :lol :lol

I hope Bay can get them to reverse their decision, or at least somehow manage to get Transformers 1 on Blu-Ray.

Seriously, $150 million? Transformers 2 would have shit all over that.

I hope you're happy, Paramount.

2 of new Tosh 3rd gen models will do 1080p/24 and they start at $399 thats $100 cheaper than the cheapest blu ray player.

Hey, well if it doesn't happen, then no Transformers 2.

Bitter tears, and all.

I think if Bay doesn't want to make transformers 2, Dreamworks could just get another director. an even better one? they do hold the license to transformers movie right?

That's great and all but when will I see this wonder machine in Europe for a comparable price? 2009?

Fuck, no Bay for TF2?! That means no Spielber involvement as well, that's like carte blanche for Don Murphy! We're fucked.

We already knew Spielberg was neutral. Moneyhats for ParaEVERYONEworks!

Even better? Not likely.

Another director/completely new cast? Yep.

The cast only wants to return if Bay directs. Sorry Megan Fox lovers.

This can only be seen as a good thing, he butchered Transformers & I truly hope that Paramount don't cave to pressure from this c*nt, so a more competent director can get to work on making a real Transformers movie.

Sounds like Bay and Spielburg are tired of the bullshit. Too bad it won't budge paramount. And he will make Transformers 2. You don't say no to $$$$.

Or not since TF was truly a Transformers from the corny story to the giant robots. And with Don Murphy alone behind it now we can truly hope for a fucking awful movie.

Well I actually really liked Transformers and have no Problem with Bay.

There are worse action director's out there, Rattner for example.

LXG
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, need I say more?

They've both made terrible movies, but a glance at both of their work pretty much confirms that nearly all of Bay's recent efforts have been shite.

The Island :lol
Bad Boys 2 :lol
Pear Harbour :lol :lol

i really dont care anymore at this point. there's no point being passionate and emotionally attached to something you have absolutely no control over. let them fuck each other up.

The Island was decent, but the ammount of fucking up one's work in LXG and general awfulness was epic. Hell even Pearl Harbour was a better movie than that crap.

rofl @ this Snah taking Bay seriously.

If you actually think Bay is serious about that, you're insane. Of course there will be a Transformers 2.

And sadly for Bay and the cast, NO ONE saw Transformers for Bay or the cast in the first place.

Wha...I don't know a lot of the background regarding LXG, but I did think the movie was terribly cast & well just sucked, but to say it was worse than Pear Harbour is wrong.

The Island could have been an amazing movie if Bay hadn't ruined what would have been an amazing unveiling for Scarlett's milky mammaries.

:(

The original work was by Allan Moore and didn't had Tom Sawyer or Vampire Mina, or Dorian Grey. The fact that it featured a opium addict Quartemain instead of Sean Connery is only a small example of how much it was changed. Although Sean Connery is the only reason I saw that movie it's a guilty pleasure I know.

But no one gave a shit. People saw Transformers to see big robots blow shit up.

Agreed.

And when you consider the movie as just that, then Bay didn't really do too bad a job.
