Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire [HD DVD] [2005]
Price: £17.98
Sales rank: 588
Release date: November 20, 2006

...on Amazon UK?

Holy crap, Blu-ray is now killing HD DVD in the UK, and I'd imagine now the rest of Europe, too. A terrible movie, with basically no value other than Jessica Alba in a swimsuit, is beating a Harry Potter film in the UK. I never thought I'd see that.

I thought it was June/July for the 4808. Going to be expensive though

Ah thought it was a whole line that was going out. Guess one model won't do much to the price of the lower/older models :D.

$599 really isn't much in the grand scheme of things but with the current state of fluctuations in HDMI i really don't want to plunk down that much till the format is even remotely stable. There are just too many features now that are being planned that haven't been implemented to pay alot for a receiver.

I take your awful film and raise it...

Hellboy [Blu-ray] [2004]

Things must be bad for HD DVD! ;)

In fact the top 5 is currently above the No1 HD DVD product, which isn't even a film. Eeek!

How do HD discs compare to digital downloads on a weekly/monthly basis?

BR/HD-DVD supports may be focused so much on this one battle they don't know how the real war is going, maybe they're losing? Maybe they're winning? I'm quite curious!

What digital HD downloads are available?

So I'm watching Blu-Ray of "District B13" right now...

Flawless (I mean tier 0/"Crank" quality) picture. ****ing excellent film to boot and one of THE best foreign films I've seen in awhile....oh how I love french cinema :)

/neo - whoa

And as soon as the BRD version is announced for $100 as well people in this thread will be spooging over it.

I don't know of any other than Xbox Live. I think Comcast has HD OnDemand, and probably some satellite services.

Anyway, that's actually irrelevant. Digital distribution is also aiming for the "successor to DVD" crown just like the HD formats. And that's actually my point, BR and HD-DVD supports are so focused on the "HD war" that they're losing site of the overall picture. I mean, is the HD war even relevant anymore? Does anybody, other than the people who already care, even care?

I don't have the numbers, that's why I'm curious if anybody has them. But I'd think that there's quite a bit of apathy to the HD formats in general. You only need to look at the PS3 sales figures to figure that out.

Just watched Rocky Balboa on blu-ray. The latest blu-ray releases have had some outstanding transfers.

I will continue to support this format with my hard-earned dollars. I ****ing love it. Die HD-DVD
and Wii.

$599. Not Bluray.

If you want to argue that the price is high because of Bluray, well that's something else entirely.

Die HD-DVD

Why is Happy Feet HD DVD lower on the almighty hdgamedb than its non-combo lower priced Bluray? and... OMG EXTRA EXTRA!!! READ ALL ABOUT IT! MATRIX PREORDER ALREADY AT 133 AFTER ONLY A FEW HOURS

ok, and my statement still applies. That has nothing to do with HD DVD or blu-ray. 100 dollars for movies i would bet 95% of people on here already own is ****ing ridculous.

i'd pay 100 dollars just for chapter 29 in hd and lossless audio.

note to warner- your bluray version better have lossless

meh not impressed with matrix sale.

Pirates 1 & 2 broke top 150 once too....and that was 1.5 months ago, a full 3.5 months before actual released

Casino Royale broke top 50 within hours....and have been in top 50 ever since

how do you expect us to be impressed, when BD number is doing much much better than HD-DVD

Not really. It is 84 dollars on amazon to start with. It also comes with the Animatrix so it is more like 4 movies. It works out to about 21 dollars for each movie, which puts it on par with your average DVD and cheap compared to most high definition disks. It comes with a shitaton of extras, and as far as showcasing HD technology, there are few other films around as suited to show your expensive toy off with.

While looking at the trailer for "The Host" I stumbled over this title while looking at Magnolia's HD releases.

While not out yet for HD DVD, Magnolia does plan to release it soon. Never owned it on DVD so good to hear that the transfer is top notch.

Matrix is a great thing for HD-DVD. I am jealous.

I'll buy the first movie the minute it's out on Blu-Ray (or I get an HD-DVD player) and the package if it's priced reasonably with extras.

C'mon BDI!

Perhaps but not myself, call me when a decent trilogy is released.

FIXED

If there were any movies that need to be remade and done right, it would be the Matrix sequels.

Get it over with, hddvd has lost. You were owned in the previous page and you keep trying even though the most avid hddvd fanboys have given up. Your hostile behavior and obsession against bluray for the obvious reasons your tag points to has become a spectacle to laugh at and nothing more.

They should ship pictures of them with every HD disk.

i was about to make a photoshop of that, but then i realised that i don't have any photoshop skills nor the actual software and most importantly, their photos.

:lol

So basically you have none of the things you need.

May 22nd I will buy my first blue ray movie ....not because i support it over HDDVD(or vice versa) but because Apocalypto is just that awesome

Just to add some more fuel to the fire (so I can get flamed):
Amazon's top 3 sellers for both formats

Blu-Ray
29. Casino Royale
69. Happy Feet
140. The Departed

HD DVD
41. Children of Men
42. Matrix Ultimate Collection
56. Happy Feet

You have to admit that the Matrix being that high is pretty impressive, considering that it costs $83.

And for the record, I wish I had a Blu-Ray player, but I can get along just fine with HD DVD and DVD atm. I'm not about to spend $600 on a gaming system that only has 2 exclusive games I want and a Blu-Ray player. Just had to get that off my chest before I get ridiculed.

ALSO, Highdefdigest has their Happy Feet review up and it received a great review score (5/5 video quality). I'm looking forward to watching it.

I read that the Animatrix and the extras are in SD not HD. If true, this package is not everything you could ask for.
