I would mind the lack of a briefcase a lot less if they just put some damn straps on the guns instead of just having them glued to 47's back like he's an action figure.

Why is the sniper given that name?

T-that's not the trademark weapon!

Copyright restrictions on the names of commercially-manufactured guns, e.g. the MP5 (in Colorado) being titled as HX7. Its current name is a reference to the rifle's German origins.

Three elusive targets in November, and more suit unlocks for elusive targets are also coming.

And finally items will be sorted in the loadout page! It was getting unmanageable if you had unlocked every last item.

Also, it sounds like they're hinting at some old, persistent bugs finally getting fixed. Dalia addressing you by the wrong name in Paris, Strandberg getting stuck while evacuating to the school, that kind of thing.

This last video is actually with the loud as hell shotgun, not the silenced one. I wanted the extra challenge :p

As an aside, I do wonder what they mean by a "limited" loadout? Maybe one item slot instead of two? Maybe guns are an on-site procurement with weapon stashes and armed staff?

Yeah, i'd bet you can't bring any guns or suspicious stuff with you. You're apparently a VIP patient there so supposedly you have been througoughly checked before admission.

You're entering a private hospital. There may be no areas to explore that aren't on the property.

Considering the stakes and who is there, it makes sense to increase security.

I believe previous Hitman games have tried those. Codename 47, Contracts, and Blood Money all had missions where you couldn't do the levels with weapons in your inventory.

You couldn't bring in guns to the clinic in Blood Money, so I imagine their logic is specifically from this mission.

Maybe Mastery Level 20 unlocks a starting point that would make sense for weapons, hence at that Level your loadout goes back to normal.

I believe you cannot be detected and shot at. Bodies can be found. You just can't be hunted down where the AI can target you and have you marked as a hostile in the disguise you have.

To give you an example in Paris...

- Snipe Viktor, AI is aware he was sniped, runs to location you fired from, but you're able to get out of there without being detected as the shooter = Sniper Assassin complete.
- Snipe Viktor and the AI treats you as a hostile as they found out you were the sniper (they're marked orange in Instinct, meaning you're a permanent enemy in their eyes) = Sniper Assassin failed.

tl;dr Do not get compromised as the shooter. They can be aware of the shots, but not you as the shooter.

Interesting. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I've completed Colorado 3 times now but have never been hunted or spotted. Evidence deleted. Only guards alerted (as in they see the target get shot). No challenge completion.

Weird. Are you just sniping them from the water tower? I was able to do that and it was fine.

But at the same time, depending on how you kill them, the AI in this level is bugged. If you're on PS4, play The Mercenary mission, and kill all of the targets' guards from the tower without being sneaky. They'll aim at you (this would mean you've been outed as the shooter) but do fuck all about it. They won't even move to where you are. This includes guards not added to this particular hit. No other mission does this.

I would suggest, if you haven't done so, to kill the targets only with headshots. Taking more than one bullet to down them risks being outed as the shooter, as it raises the risk of the AI to simply be aware of you as the the one sniping.

If you're doing that, I would suggest hitting up IO/HITMAN on Twitter. It could be a bug, as I am not able to get the well challenge from Marrakesh to tick off, despite following conditions and videos that I mirror completely.

I think something was bugged for sure. I finally got it doing much of the same stuff I did in the first three play throughs. And yea, I just used the water tower.

I just realized that they really painted themselves into a corner by having NPCs compliment the specific colors of your suit and tie.

Hopefully we don't end up getting told that it's too expensive to record new dialogue for suits that are not black/white and ties that are not red.

(Actually, hasn't there been new suit dialogue added more recently? There's a Pitbull reference now that I don't remember from before.)

I don't think it should be too expensive to do, or if they try to focus on vague statements.

If they can update the game with small quality of life changes such as characters trying to talk while being subdued, which nobody requested, surely they can do something with the suits.
 
Going through all these episodes I missed since Sapienza and man, I was hoping IO would have fixed the atrocious input lag in the console version (I assume it's present in both consoles anyways).

I'm pretty damn good at shooting games but I literally could not for the life of me shoot the cans on the antlers in time. Had to pull out a shotty.

The dead zone plus input lag combo is so, so bad in this game.
 
Yeah, the deadzone is terrible. PC version suffers from it if you use a controller. Messes up my sniping a lot.
I tend to switch to mouse and keyboard when shooting. The aiming controls on my DS3 are fucking awful. Both the aiming and cover system are a big step down from Absolution.

Yeah, I usually change quickly when I have to take a harder shot. And yeah, for all the flaws Absolution had, they absolutely nailed the aiming. Both controller and mouse there feel smooth as hell.

I'd really like to try using Steam Controller with this. I'll buy one , one day.
 
Oh man, I just tested it and running unlocked FPS on PS4 improves the input lag quite a bit.

But that variable framerate, I just can't handle it. Gonna stick with locked I guess for everything but Sniper Assassin challenges.

Also, I really got to give it to IO. The game is really good looking. And actually performs way better then I expected on PS4 (barely any dips below 30 and so on). Just a stunning artstyle.
 
Yeah, one thing they have constantly done is changing NPCs around, give them new lines, introduce new NPC models and etc.

I just got a random NPC line in Bangkok where they say you look like Konny the masseur.

This goes deep. How much more voice acting haven't I heard in this game?
 
An NPC complained to me that the sink keeps overflowing. They're really going full-on self-referential now.

Maybe characters will soon be overheard talking about a worldwide wave of freak fire extinguisher accidents. Or will they have the restraint to save that joke for next season?

Also, just finished Himmapan Horror. It was really refreshing to let bodies be found and eavesdrop on people freaking out. There should be a way to work this into other game modes.

On the other hand, not so much fun searching through a sea of identical contracts involving killing the same five people in the basement, looking for something, anything, with unique targets. (I recommend "Staff to be axed", on PC.)

Considering there's a line of dialogue in Colorado about there being a huge body pile up in an electric puddle on one of the maps (can't remember which), I expect a fire extinguisher joke soon.
 
Finally the crashing issues have been resolved for me with the newest Nvida drivers, so if anyone had some of those problem I suggest updating to the BF1 drivers

An interesting note from the Giant Bomb video is that when Brad asks if cameras do anything besides score they say "not right now". Cameras must be changed in Season 2 as I doubt they would change them just for Hokkaido.

I guess one direction they can go is if you're spotted by a camera, it alerts certain guards and they come looking for you. Not sure if that'd be a good thing or just annoying.

Could see a "First time you're spotted by a camera without a valid disguise the camera room sends a message to the 2 nearest guards after 5 seconds to escort you out. If no one responds/they can't find you they go on a search and everyone in the room aside from the ones watching the cameras join the search if more men are needed."
 
They could just do what they did in in previous games. Security rooms with guards watching the feeds, if you're trespassing or doing something suspicious/illegal on camera then it's the same as doing it in front of an NPC and if you shoot one out then they'll send someone to look at it and count it against Silent Assassin. Could even add a limited-use jammer to take out cameras without alerting guards as an unlock.
