HOHOHO Pirate Santa is early this year : First NDS rom dumped

It'll be damn hard to have DS emulation catch up to the GBA emulation considering GBA emulators and roms were released before the handheld was.

GBA roms weren't released before the GBA

in fact, the first dumps were public over a week after

and they didnt work properly on any the emulators that were out before they were dumped :D

Dang! DS code runnable from a GBA Flash cart? I gotta get a DS right away so I can cook up the funky touchscreen sound toy I've been thinking about...

Right now I'm only reporting stuff i read on website since i can't try it myself maybe The Faceless Master is right.

The plot is ticking .....

edit :

from darkfader's homepage

Latest news:
I can dump cartridges (assumming 0x1000 to 0x4000 does not contain valueable data).
I can run code on the ARM7 (in DS mode).

So the piece of news going aroung about him booting Metroid Prime must be false. But if he can run ARM7 code in DS mode, that (propably) means he has access to all the DS functionallity.

It's 3 o'clock in the morning, I just got back from the traditional familly christmas eve and english is not my monther tongue.

I'll take The clock is ticking...

Nintendo could release a NDS Online Kit on a GBA cart to add their own online service in the future. That might be one of the reasons why you get access to everything.

This is fucking great news that makes my pee-pee go ba-doing-doing-doing.

I can't wait to see fullspeed SNES/Genesis/TG16/various 16-bit system emus running on the DS through a GBA flash cart. 4 face buttons + 2 triggers, too!

Someone needs to ask that guy what the frequency of the ARM7 is running at when he boots it from the GBA slot. And is the ARM9 accessible?

I figured we would have seen PSP ISOs long before seeing DS roms, oh well, either or works for me. Great stuff, I can't wait to program for the DS, here's hoping to their being some form of dev going on, even if the games need to be loaded via the gba slot.

Wait a sec...

Wasn't the GBA designed around the ARM7?

If so, what's so remarkable about this? He's pulling ARM7 code and running it ON a device operating off an ARM7 -- right?

(Yes, I know... the whole "ROM" bit and such... but I still don't see how this goes much beyond the ability to code GBA games with "hooks" for extra DS features)

Something tells me that at first, the DS homebrew stuff will be stronger than the PSP stuff.

Of course, I'm sure PSP will be bigger than Jesus once they figure out how it works and get an emu up and running.

So the ROM is dumped but cannot be played anywhere? Whoa fucking great ... not.

I don't think the whole point was to play it [rolleyes], I think it was just to show that it could be done?

If they can't run the ROM they can't run any homebrew stuff either. So what is the point in showing it can be done?

Maybe you missed the bit where people said that the ROMs could be played on a flash card inserted into a GBA slot?

maybe you missed the part where they said the ARM7 code ran, but not the ARM9 code...

the ARM9 handles the 3D screen...

This is stupid, it wouldn't feel nearly as fun to play these games with your PC/mouse/tablet/mic etc.

Just go out and buy a DS

Also, if this is true that MP:Hunters was booted from the GBA cart/slot, I don't think this would happen with a lot of games because of space limitations on the flash carts.

You know there are 1Gigabit(128 MB) flash carts that are on sale now right?
