Horizon Zero Dawn gameplay vids *spoilers*

Ever played Bloodborne or Dark Souls?
Of course. There's a difference. For one, between the very precise timing and usage of rolls due to being limited by stamina and attack windows, versus just being to roll like a madman. And two, I'd rather be able to be more aggressive in a game like this than having to roll and dodge a lot. But I guess the latter is a consequence of low levels and not much experience playing

Well then you have the option to not button-smash the roll button and not roll like a madman.
Horizon is much faster than a typical Souls game.

Reminds me of Shadow of Mordor

That's interesting. I didn't think of Shadow of Mordor whatsoever when watching this. Bleak small open world melee-focused action game whose side content amounts to trials, and whose claim to fame and biggest part of the game is the Nemesis system. I thought SoM was decent, but I struggle to think of similarities between the two games except for their shared use of some common open world mechanics.

Is this going to be a regular thing in this game? Having to constantly roll like that to evade enemies?

Well he died, right? He shouldn't have spamed the roll skill but he probably was shitting in his pants. Besides I'm sure they weren't supposed to success at killing the Thunderjaw.

I really want everyone to know how much more Titanfall 2 sold than Nioh. It was a staggering amount.
Its combat look like Souls not TW3 is really good,
TW3 facial animation is great? I played the fake TW3 confirmed.

I wish that if she rolled into the tree she would get stunned or something.

Game is beautiful though

so the player shouldn't ran away too far from Thunderjaw because if you got to far, it will start attacking with you with laser drones which looks like harder to evade than the machine gun. especially if you don't have cover.

the thunderjaw fight in E3 reveal demo looks so much easier than this one.

IIRC the E3 demo one was injured in a previous fight alr. You could see arrrows and spears sticking out of him

Any footage of people doing the dungeons ("Cauldrons")? I'd like to see what kind of puzzles they've got.

they're not allowed to record the cauldron. we just got some few bit of description about cauldron. it's big, had platforming, stronger robot protecting it etc. supposed to be pretty challenging.

Man I was hoping I could hold off on getting this game but damn it looks incredible. Gameplay looks very fast and responsive.

Lovin the ghostrobo vid since it's a pretty neat breakdown of the mechs. There are far more mechs than I was expecting.

I hope there are variations within enemy species. Even just making a thunderjaw have different resistances, or putting components in different places could have a huge bearing on how a fight plays out.

Seems likely GhostRobo ran until a different watcher that was tougher and had a different attack.

Was not corrupted either.

What's wrong with this one? It seemed fine to me.

It just seems like seems like the audio is off when she speaks the second time. It makes it sound like it's gibberish.

"You shouldn't even be talking to me"

"Uhuhuhing about your hunt. What happened?"

I actually feel the main character's acting is really good. I can't wait till the game releases.

She said "Well, whoever you are, you're hurt. What happened?"

The music is kind of drowning on their words.

The game looks beautiful and the combat seems fun, if not the best thing I've ever seen.

But that lip syncing though... what is up with that...

I think the only major issue is that some moves in the the Skill tree should have been in Aloy's moveset from the get go like the two tiered Dodge Roll and basically all of the 1st tier abilities besides faster healing and Extra Foraging.

It's probably my action game senses tingling but I wish that Guerrilla had opted to not go with EXP mechanics at all and instead pursued a more natural upgrade system like with the Cauldrons each unlocking a new Override for Aloy.

Looks so good. Sounds like it has a good gameplay.

The only thing that can go wrong is if the missions are repetitive and story completely fails to deliver. I hope thats not the case.

I think we can be confident that most missions won't be repettive. Everyone's going to probably dislike the Human bases but the robot encounters themselves are probably going to be pretty varied in terms of gameplay. Imagine combining say a Stalker Robot with a group of Watchers. Results in heavy management in both controlling the watchers while making sure to dodge the Stalker's attacks.

I meant more like mission design, like If its anything like "Go there, find the robor, kill the robot, loot, report back" for every mission then we may have a problem. Not that I have seen/read anything that suggests that, but it just crossed my mind.

eh, I suspect that is exactly how it'll work, which is not a problem if the combat is good and varied enough.

most of Witcher 3 quest is like this too btw, go to point A, do witcher sense, follow the red trail, combat.

the good ones rely on the story to give dialog option so you have multiple approach and outcome to the story. but once you make your choice, it's usually the same go to point A and follow the trail to finish the quest.

I'm not sure if Horizon will have that big of story choices though.

The facial animation is good in TW3, but still has its discrepancies, it has still go a long way to go. It is the voice acting that is really good. I think the discrepancy is more jarring here because the visuals are more realistic. There is definitely a bit of an uncanny valley thing going on, even though I think it is a step in terms of character model visuals in an RPG. This is the best so far.

Seeing what looks like good third person shooter mechanics in an open world game is really encouraging. And it seems like there's a lot of variety in the enemies, as well as their abilities. Plus I love everything about the game's aesthetic and the main character's design. Definitely thinking about picking this up on release.

Yeah VA is mostly fine.
Some parts better than others but thats par for the course with games like this. Its something I was most worried about but am pleasantly surprised with what I am seeing.

1 thing I am not too keen on is how busy the damn HUD is at times. Especially at night with all the clutter on the screen with all the glowing red enemies. It was giving me a headache.

Hopefully HUD opacity is an option.
