Really? Because at this point being the outcast everyone hates in a game is about as interesting as Bowser captured Peach go find her.

I mean just playing this game is fun as hell but unless they open that door and it's Kojima welcoming me into Death Stranding I'm just not feeling the story.

What's this touchpad thing where the map appears for 5 seconds I read earlier...I tried this after reading this and it does nothing...you need to swap slightly in one direction or something...?

It's not the map, it's the HUD. If you set to Dynamic you can just touch the Touchpad to see the HUD for a few seconds.

Anyone getting an issue with highlighting enemy paths? I'm using focus and then r1 to select to highlight track but nothing appears. It worked in the first tutorial and once again briefly but other than that nothing shows.

I've found this very hit or miss, and can't tell why. It feels like I'm missing some aspect, because otherwise it makes for a very strange and obvious glitch.

While I do like the story overall, the writing is a little too hammy/overly earnest at times for my tastes, and some of the dialogue's pretty corny. I'll admit, coming from Yakuza 0 to this is a little jarring (60fps and the tone in general).

Still, Aloy is a great character and the game itself is very good. It's not really wowing me like some here as it does have a very familiar open world feel to it which I'm, kind of exhausted with, but so far it definitely deserves the high praise. The various systems and mechanics are all top tier. I think y0 just feels so much more inventive which is dampening the effect of this a little.

Looks a little blurry in motion on OG ps4m but it's still gorgeous.

I think Y0 us still standing as my GOTY so far, with RE7 and this a joint second currently. We'll see how it pans out.

In what ways is Yakuza 0 inventive? I really don't know much about the series at all, but I'm kind of curious

Parts of the soundtrack I've heard so far, all in the first area, remind me very strongly of the music for Terence Malick's "The New World". I'm sure it's deliberate. It's transporting me into that mode of just marveling at dappled sunlight passing through tree branches, ha.

ropecaster just ties down enemies. you won't be ripping stuff off with it. tie it down then fire on the parts you want with another weapon.

Actually the ropes can tear off components when the robot breaks free... that's why you can mod the tear damage on this weapon.

I am currently level 12 I think and got almost everything in the top row, and then worked down the 3rd column in order to get Tinkerer since that seems like the best skill to have for flexibility. And getting the skill along the way in order to re-use traps and trip ropes is great too.

Had chance the play the opening section today, left of just as I was leaving the Embrace for the first time.

The story so far is amazing, fucking hats off to whoever's brainchild this world is.

Only had 2 chances to fight larger enemies so far which definitely seems like where the combat shines.

You should try the pause/unpause trick to see if the download speed changes or leave it in rest mode for an hour and see if it speeds up.

Yeah I'm probably playing Zelda first because I have a feeling Horizon will be much better. It at least won't be a huge graphics downgrade.

Y0 is like a theme park of arcade mechanics, it's ridiculous and it revels in it in the best way. It's hugely varied, too. Everyone should be playing both of these games, imo.

For PS4 Pro owners with a 1080p TV:

If you just left the game at resolution mode, I'd honestly go give performance mode a shot. I've been toggling it back and forth between resolution and performance and given the comparisons and talks with a couple other gaffers, I think it's a good idea to try out performance mode and see how it looks for you.

On my end, the performance mode just straight up looks sharper most of the time and there doesn't seem to be much of a perceptible difference in actual image quality most of the time.
