I just beat the main quest mission
"the grave-hoard" where you visit robot command.
How far am I from finishing it?

I'm also level 37, and the next main mission is lvl 20. Is this sort of normal? I don't feel OP quite yet.
Totally normal. You're about eight main quests away from the end, I think.

So I'm righr past
Maker's Mark
. How much gameplay do you think i have till i complete the main story. I've been having too much doing all the side quests.
10 or so, I believe.

levels really aren't the barometer of strength in this game. When you get purple weapons and purple attachments that's when you get strong af

Just watched Neil interview Hermen from Guerrilla. Coolest thing ever. God bless competition cuz the TLOU 2 will now be that much better.

Also can't wait for Horizon DLC.

Alloy's story, but even more so the lore and backstory of how this world came to be, have completely clicked with me and sucked me in like no other game has before. Going into the game I really didn't have high hopes for the story, but I have been completely blown away. Absolutely phenomenal.

I'm nearing the end and will be sad when it's over, I feel like there's still many mysteries that have answers that need discovering.

Got the platinum today, like you I was sad when it was over. That is a benchmark for a game for me, a metric by which I judge the content and narrative of a game. Just like you, the story clicked with me like no other game I've played in a long time.

I'm bewildered by the reviews that claimed the story was weak. The premise alone was great, robot dinosaurs, but it had an incredible science fiction narrative to support that premise. Can't wait for DLC and sequels, I'm there day one.

You can tell GG really enjoyed developing this game, and seemed to have a genuine passion for their new IP.

I feel kinda ridiculous right now. I've been avoiding fighting Thunderjaws for a number of hours, I've seen them loads of times wandering around and I've deliberately avoided them because I was scared to fight one. Last night I encounter one that is right in my way and I choose to finally bite the bullet rather than go the long way around.

So I do my research in the machine bestiary thing and start up the fight. Within my first Concentration... I've removed both disc launchers and the tail. I then use the first disc launcher on his face and it blows off both head cannons and a ton of armor. I then unload all of the second launcher into the hole I've created from the first launcher and he's down, all within a minute.

I don't know whether I'm disappointed or happy it went down so easily?!

Nah, you fought it smart, and that's the name of the game with Horizon. If you take your time to analyze and plan your encounters, use all the resources available like tear arrows, ropes and elemental bombs, encounters get much easier. Thunderjaws, especially, since the disc launchers are super overpowered.

Any good playthroughs out there I can watch? Preferably ones where the player takes their time exploring and providing their thoughts on commentary rather than just rushing through the story.

Cant get enough of people's reactions to the big reveals in this game.

ChristopherOdd does fantastic LP's as far as I'm concerned. Always takes his time, really gets into the games. Likes to learn about the lore etc. He often comments on things he's digging about the games. Yeah, he's great.

Here's a link to his Horizon playthrough (not watched this one personally):

I still gotta finish his play through, he needs to learn how to play better, dudes always just spamming fire arrows at everything. I pretty much dropped it to watch ENB play Persona 5.

I actually put Horizon down recently for a couple of weeks because of frustration with the combat system but came back at it a few days ago to try and continue. This time the discovery of just how good Hardpoint arrows are has made a huuuuge difference. I just loaded my bow up with the biggest purple Tear mods I had and now almost everything is getting rekt.

That is my one complaint about Chris, he's sometimes not the quickest at picking things up but generally speaking he gets there. It can be painful to watch sometimes though. But as above, I struggled with Horizon's combat as well so I'm sympathetic towards him on this count.

This is too good.

I got so many tips from GAF so I guess it's easy to see how a person could struggle with the combat for a bit.

Tell them on twitter and bring it up on here enough. They are certainly listening to fans. I'm still waiting for NG+

Already told them many times. Last time they told me they checked and it is hard to fit in. I still don't udnerstand why especially if they showed this, the robots' videos before, and the character closeups at PSX. I mean the architecture of character/model viewer is available. They just need to add it like in Uncharted 4 and Batman Arkham Knight. I don't know what it is hard in that.

You did it right though, that is the system, tear the disk launcher, tear the face cannon, tail is optional, because after that it's rope it to the ground, remove the heart plates, and then focus mode multiple arrows into the heart. Tie him down again, and finish with it's own disk launcher, or what ever order you like. Frankly, after you get the heavy rope caster, it's a bit easy.

Once they do NG+ I'll probably crank it up to hard and tear through it again.
Go to very hard, hard in that game is like normal in many games. Especially after level 25 or so, if you have good mods, go straight to very hard. It will force you to learn all the machine weaknesses. When in doubt, rope, burn or freeze, and shoot.

Late game is mostly having machines do the heavy lifting for you with the override. It's why the heavy stealth suit is almost OP. You can pretty much run at anything, slide, then override. I'm sure you've noticed that the machines you override are way more powerful than the normal machines.

So what do you folks would like on a NG+ mode?
Anything else besides making it more difficult?

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I'd actually enjoy some new tweaks kind of like Dante Must Die mode in the old DMC games where enemies can get enraged and powered up if you don't kill them quickly or efficiently. Maybe have tougher versions of mech earlier on in the game and stuff like that.

Yeah I have, the only thing not really work overriding are Stalkers. Thunderjaws are fucking fun though. I think towards the end depending on what it was I just triple knocked Precision Arrows and hit the weak points, Scrappers go down too fast with that method.

There is a place in the right center of the desert region that has two ponds, you can see it that way from the map, with two Thunderjaws next to each other if you want to see them fight each other, makes for some great screenshots. Sunhi has one of his more dramatic gifs there.

And yeah, halfway though the game on hard I was one shotting scrappers with the triple arrows. The impact sound and special effects are awesome though. I started feeling bad for them, made worse by the fact that they run sometimes when hurt or when there is only two and you take the first out in one shot. Triple fire arrows will fully set fire to almost anything even in very hard, and triple corruption arrows is instant mayhem for almost everything.

I love the corruption arrows for diversion tactics. Whenever I'm just stealthing around I corrupt something for them to fight so I can sneak on by. I have had two Thunderjaws fight before. I think I did that for an end quest or something, might be the dude that drinks robot oil.

Good update except for one thing?

The % of the armor weaves? i had a armor with 90% stealth

25% x2

that's 90 stealth and now its showing 15% x2 for 60%?

Was that part of the update?

The patch notes said they were fixing some of the mods in second and third slots not correctly modifing the values, which I had noticed on several occassions. I also noticed that some mods would not show up in the selection after a mod of the same type was placed.

For instance, I had 4 corruption mods, but after placing one, only one more would show up in the selection, the other two just disappearing.

Bought this game on the weekend and I've been blown away with just how good this is.

I've just thrown Nioh (6 chapters in), Res 7 and FF15 (not started either of these) to the side coz Horizon needs my full attention.

Just got to where you see the
tall dino machine
for the first time so not that far in but what a ride so far.

Beautiful music, great environments and world to explore, if there's one downside is the water affects are a let down with how it doesn't interact with Aloy, is that something GG can fix in the future if they wanted to?

Both my 25% stealth mods where on a armor with just two slots and i also had more unequipped 25% stealth and those also turned to 15%

All my 50% handling coils all turned to 66% and 67%
Also most of my 20% melee attacks turned to 18%?

After 400 plus hours my favorite thing to do was grinding as many of those top tear weaves and coils as i could, Even if i had mostly all of them,

needless to say i just traded the game into Gamestop

It called balance. The game is unfortunately kinda easy and stealth broke the game.

Just finished it. Great story, great combat, which I'm sure will be refined in the inevitable sequel. Great OST too, very memorable. Some characters do stick with you, so I hope to see some of them in the next installment and hopefully it won't take 7 years this time lol. Great job Guerrilla, will definitely come back to it later in the year, I have several other games left to play yet. Keep those QoL updates coming!
Edit: Wait! End game spoilers!
Sylens will be the new evil mastermind, won't he? That cliffhanger!

Snake, was this for that screenshot competition? You actually went to the studio to pick it up? Guess you live in Europe then?

Dude, you returned the game because they re-balanced it? I pretty sure it's still a great game. Probably even better, it was a bit out of balance, as I talked about earlier.

Forgot to reply your pm sorry!

But no, this is not from the current competition. It was Hermen his fav shot so they made a few prints. The biggest one is still at Guerrilla: https://twitter.com/hermenhulst/status/842045412559228930

I live 25/30 min away from Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I actually was at the studio (for the second time). First time was almost 13 years ago, so it was nice to reconnect with some devs i knew since then.

That's awesome man. As Dev's go, they seem like some really great guys. Besides making a great game they were obviously passionate about, it's been nice how they interact with the community of people playing their game and taking screen shots.

It's a gorgeous shot Snake, would be nice to have some art from this game on the wall at home.

Started it recently. Currently indifferent towards a lot of it, feels like a lot of triple A games where it's really pretty, and a lot of it is passable, but nothing is particularly good. I want to like Aloy, but the script is often clunky feeling, and I'm not exactly sold on the set up.

Which would be whatever, if I was more engaged by the gameplay. I got the lure ability n stealth kill fairly early, so a lot of the early going has been cake walk city (and I'm playing on very hard, which I'm guessing is a health bump+me not having aim assist) with the watchers, striders, and scrappers. It's almost laughable how well that mechanic works right now.

And even if I got away from stealth it's not like the melee combat has much in the way of depth, or the enemies had any interesting patterns at first. Luckily I think the game is really about to kick in high gear, as the corrupter and sawtooth at the least kept me honest, if not actively challenging enemies.

That said outside of one feedback loop issue, I do like how the game controls. Aloy feels nice n breezy to move around, melee hits against robots feel nice n loud, and it seems I'm going to get a variety of interesting traps/bombs to mess around with between my trapper thing n sling.

I don't quite like the animations when you get hit, feels like it's lacking something unless one of the bigger robots is really hitting you. Like Aloy herself doesn't really sell it all that well, so there is this weird disconnect feeling when you get hit, that I don't get n tighter action games. And really think fighting humans is gonna be extra boring if that first sequence with them is any indication of how they battle, seems fairly dull AI wise too given this company had neat stuff with the Killzone 2 AI.

On the plus side, outside of the stretch ...pre-montage lol, I been let loose to play. As soon as I got my first story quest, I just went off n did stuff. Explored, hunted things, did side stuff, did errands, bought all the weapons from a shop because I had killed everything and picked up everything like I have OCD.

It's certainly pretty.

This is not a melee focused game and its really weak until you get a few upgrades into the tree and even then its basically just used for whacking smaller enemies and trying to get a few hits in on a stunned opponent. Focus on the range gameplay, the movement, the traps and also realize you're nowhere out of the actual intro part of the game and have basically seen nothing yet in terms of story, enemies, etc.

Added difficulty setting components to the Shield Weaver Armor’s damage protection. On hard mode the armor received a 40% armor reduction, on very hard the armor received a 66.6% reduction.
It nerfs the shield weave armor. Terrible update.

I'm 10 hours in and just got to M
eridian
at level 13 which seems a bit low. Did I get here too quickly? I haven't found much reason to run around the open world because it just keeps directing me to the next mission.

Are the errands and bandit camps worth it? I'm never a fan of fetch quests so labeling things as "errands" is a really big turnoff after working all day and running errands in real life. Petty maybe but the name alone really makes me not want to engage with them.
