I've recently watched longlegs and the popes exorcist. The popes exorcist was the better of the 2, longlegs was OK but nowhere near as creepy as I expected from what I'd read.

Does anyone know where I can stream a Korean film called a tale of two sisters? I used to have it on dvd back in the day and would like to watch it again.

AMC+ or you can rent it on Amazon

My two favourite horror movies i've seen the last year is both made by Demián Rugna.
When Evil Lurks was absolutely brilliant, and I really enjoyed Terrified too.
Looking forward to his next movie!

Yeah, that's right. Great movie. Have you seen his "When Evil Lurks" movie too? That one is amazing.

Hohen, I didn't like when evil lurks, I mean, it had some GREAT shock value scenes but other than that I found it to be...weird ? Like, all this evil is supposed to be "normal"/a normal occurrence in the film's established world ? Do you get what I'm saying ? I felt detached from the characters when watching it because of that.

Again, maybe it was the translation, maybe it was the script that was weird but, yeah...

cheers

That's a fair take, for sure!
Definitely some questionable stuff in the story, but I managed to get immersed in it. And yeah, some of the scenes is absolutely peak horror.

Probably a generational thing but 80's for me, i was a teen all through the decade but the horror films were really good back then, scared the life out of me and not just jump scares lol.

Movies were scarier when the teen market had not taken off yet. Thats during the 70s. After teenie boppers, it just became a silly scream fest.

That's not it. I was a teen in the 80's and apart from a a handful of classics I don't like 80's horror. For what it's worth I find "icons" ie. Freddys Michaels, Jasons, etc. cringey and don't like slashers

That was during the 80's. There are genuinely disturbing and unsettling films out there not so much scary. We've pretty much seen it all.

I haven't seen it in 30 years.
I only saw it once.
I don't know if it holds up at all.

But I remember liking this movie. Maybe not "horror", but close enough for this thread.

Well. that's not it for you, not me, and i watched far more horrors as a teenager than any other stage of my life combined and just because you find them cringe doesan't apply to any one else, i don't watch horrors much now if at all, your view is just that, your view. i stand by my opinion.

I have no problem with you liking what you like my point of contention is with you saying it's a generational thing, now if you were referring to it being a generational thing strictly for you then I apologize for misunderstanding what you meant.

i can only give what i experienced and in the early 80's when i was a young teen, we all at that age would rent the horror videos out a lot on VHS, in fact we rented them so much that the UK Government banned The Exorcist, The Evil Dead and a few others for a while from the video stores, so what i meant by generational is people from different era's and ages will have different views as in the 90's SKY was in millions of homes and they could watch them over and over when they wanted, and didn't find them as scary as my generation, like my kids didn't,

it's all good mate, no problem, your opinion and experiences are just as valid as mine however different, but the 80's is storming away with it in the poll lol.

Horror doesn't seem to have a big audience here so will post this here.

Is this good? I enjoyed the other Fear Street movies and books, so I'll probably like this one, right?

There is no accounting for taste. I will admit Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the horror films I've ever seen!

My heart chooses the 80s, but my head thinks the 70s are the best. And btw, I think we shouldn't forget the 60s, a fantastic era for psychological and gothic horror movies, and the peak of Hammer. In fact I see early 60s-late 80s as the best times of the genre.

I was just reading a review on the film, it sounds hype.
The backstory needed to be fleshed out but some of those scenes, hoo boy that was disturbing and not in a torture porn kind of way even though there is gore but not for gores sake. Best Horror movie since Hereditary imo.

Sucks to be in the UK. I have to wait until August to go see it! 😭

Yup. We get ignored here every now and again.
I don't know anything about how films are distributed but waiting 2 months for an English language film is crazy.
Funny anecdote I was wearing my smartwatch and my stress levels are always low rarely reaching the low 20's. My stress level got up to 37

Happens quite often with A24 films. I think the international distributor is Sony for this one, so the blame is on them. At least it's coming out in August and not next year!

From A24 or another studio?
In my opinion best horror film from any studio since Hereditary. This film had me wincing and flinching. One scene in particular rivals the light post scene in Hereditary. I don't like gore for gores sake but it was really well done in this film. I wish the cult aspect would have been explored but that's not what this film is about it's about how unbearable grief can lead someone to go mad and do unspeakable things.

Taking the posts in here as a recommendation I watched hereditary this evening. Apart from Toni Collete I don't really see what all the fuss is about. It was well made but I'd call it more of a supernatural drama than a horror film. Also, the mentions in here of the lamppost scene made it super easy to spot before it happened which I suspect dramatically reduced it's impact, pun intended.

I enjoyed the film, but I agree that it's somewhat overrated. I think it starts to fall apart from me in the third act. Wonderful acting all around though.
