Step 1 is true (referring to his spokesman's line until he was told it was recorded, not you).

If you've got your ear to the ground then you know a lot more of the GOP is implicated in this beyond trump. That's not desperation, it's having an idea of how this shit works. Ryan isn't running smoke screens because he's innocent.

This is the big problem with the right's constant attack of the media, bullshit claims by right wing news sources, and partisan media organizations. We've gotten to a point where people don't realize what credible news means.

If a respected news organization says they heard a recording, confirmed identities, and have an accurate transcript, then IT HAPPENED. Full stop. This isn't a 4chan message board where people post insane conspiracy theories. This isn't brietbart posting about Hillary's alien immigrant love child. This is journalism.

Um, how the hell Ukraine has got the recording? The conversation didn't take place in the Ukrainian embassy, right? Did Groysman put a bug into Ryan's pocket during an earlier meeting or what?

Groysman, on an official visit to Washington, met separately with Ryan and McCarthy on June 15 at the Capitol.

He told them how the Russians meddled in European politics and called for ”unity" in addressing the threat, according to U.S. and Ukrainian officials. Ryan issued a statement after the meeting saying, ”the United States stands with Ukraine as it works to rebuild its economy and confront Russian aggression."

Later, Ryan spoke privately with McCarthy, Rodgers, Scalise and Rep. Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.), the deputy whip, among others.

While WP does not specify the place of the meeting, it seems that everything has happened in the Capitol.
