I saw on Reddit that their calling this "republicare" so these fuckers can't blame anyone else when people get pissed off.

Constant state of anger since this fucker took the White House, legit evil administration.

Question: When you combine this with the Trump tax plan (at least the one from the campaign) what do you get?

How big of a deficit jump?

What does the surcharge mean? That people will have to pay 30% of the bill?

ACA forces insurers to cover preexisting conditions. the healthcare mandate exists as a consequence, forcing consumers to purchase insurance or pay a fine (to prevent you from simply paying for insurance when sick and canceling when healthy)

the surcharge is intended to replace that

anyways, the bill looks like shit; not altogether surprising

Isn't this pretty good if you either never get sick or always have lots of extra cash?
I mean yeah, if you're rich you'll still come ahead under just about any plan. But the poor, the people who most need it will suffer dearly for that. America continuously must ask itself who needs the extra help more, and constantly re-evaluate that answer because frequently we get it dead wrong.

As for "never getting sick," that's rather unrealistic and if you only pick up insurance when you do get sick you're fucked by the 30% surcharge.

It's really fucking sad that this is the Republicans version of "trying" to find a middle ground.

I think it's a surprisingly good middle ground between establishment republicans and the freedom caucus. Probably about the best they could do without guarenteeing the freedom caucus revolting against it.

Democrats just aren't even a factor in it.

Picking a fight with Obamacare was a ridiculous idea to begin with. It was basically designed as a capitalist Republican-friendly health care plan from the start. They're not going to out-free market a plan that was crafted to appease them without fucking a lot of people over.
Yup. Obama already gave them the furthest right implementable health care, and they lost their god damn minds over it. Now they're stuck because they promised to repeal it, and can't be seen agreeing with a black man, yet still need a good health care plan.

Fuck em, they can squirm.

Supposedly, Trump gave his blessing earlier in the week to Ryan. WH worked with him a bit.

They want Trump to push it hard, too.

Once the CBO scoring comes out that shows this drops people he will cut bait and run. He is a feckless shit.

Maybe.

he could also call the CBO Obama cronies trying to hurt him.

And after the implementation he can claim it is all fake news.

Who the fuck knows what he'll do?

Those poor rural voters who we were told we need to be sympathetic towards are going to die with this plan. No way they will be able to afford these ridiculous changes that hit the poor the hardest. I can't say I feel bad about them losing their healthcare for being so stupid.

Not an American, but block grants for Medicaid seems to be one of the worst things in this whole bill? Just reads as an ever increasing lose-lose for both hospitals and the poor.

I uh... why would they screw over the elderly? Don't Republicans do hilariously well with the elderly?

Do they think they'll all forget it was the ACA Repeal that screwed with their premiums?

Ah who am I kidding they'll blame Obama and everyone'll take the bait :(

I seriously doubt he read the bill or even capable of understanding it.
If the public turn against it hard, I totally see him throwing Ryan under the bus, there is no love loss between the two.
Which is why I think he (and his surrogates) needs to be pressed on this bill constantly.

Dude did not even have to start a war to kill Americans. All he had to do is make health insurance even more unaffordable for folks that need it most. Now the bodies will just begin to pile up, all while CEOs get jerked off by Trump.
Gotta love it.

There's no chance this gets past the Dem Filibuster in the Senate right? So Trump and the other Republicans just get to say they attempted to repeal and replace but got blocked by those nasty Democrats.

Could be passed in reconciliation apparently.

If that's the hill they want to die upon let them have it. I doubt this even clears the House. Freedom Caucus and every Dem will vote against it, as will a good number of other Republicans for the opposite reason as the Freedom Caucus--their constituents want none of this shit.

Well, of course he hasn't read or could possibly understand it.

It probably comes down to whether he jumps out in front right now to support or waits to hear reactions first.

I'm just saying dude has no problem ignoring the uproar if he chooses. He'll just claim fake media, fake CBO, etc.

Wait, so the people who are "paying too much" for Obamacare are now going to be paying MORE?

No, the imaginary provision that controls healthcare costs will drive down the price of premiums so far that it will end up being a net savings. According to a bunch of idiots who also think High-Risk Pools will work.

GOP:
Mandating that people get health insurance is a disaster for our people and owe who can't pay for it!

Now, you can choose not to have it!

If paying for healthcare is too hard, then fuck it! And if you want it later on, it will be even harder/more expensive to pay, as a measure for punishing you for being too poor to pay in the first place.

So that when poor people now get ill, they'll just get fucked by bills the cost of a brand new car!

Rejoice poor people! Rejoice! This is the change we needed!

I was in a weird situation where I made too much to get state insurance but I have a lot of debt from helping family out. So I can't afford to get insurance myself. I had to pay $900 this year from my taxes because I didn't have insurance. The one positive from this is they don't have that tax penalty anymore. I might actually get some money back next year.
It's gonna suck when I do need it though(I actually need it now I have glaucoma), hopefully I can hold out until a democrat gets back in office.

Hahahahahaha. R/thedonald is a mixture of praising "stick man", the fake wire tapping story and complaining about the new health care act. You get what you voted for fuckers. Have fun!

They should call it Trumpcare. Guarnteed bankrupt right there

It's kind of nuts they would fuck over older people like that. Aren't they a huge part of Trumps demographic?

The GOP doesn't care. They'll take and take and take for as long as they can, then walk it back an inch if there's outrage, then take and take and take, then walk it back an inch. They'll repeat this until their most awful-yet-acceptable-by-their-base ideas get through.
