How did Blade Trinity go so wrong?!?!?!

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
I mean damn David Goyer wrote all 3, and there's a nice progression of Blade as a character between 1 and 2(2 is on now which is why I'm thinking about it), and the action. But while there's some nice action in 3, IMO there's too much of an emphasis on one-liners and wisecracks, Abigal and Hannibal seemingly get MUCH more camera time and worst of all, how do you have a short actor playing Dracula? Which doesn't even TOUCH the fact that the whole idea of using Dracula in the way they did was a shit ass BAD idea.

I know that Snipes sued claiming among other things that this was used more as a vehicle to bring the Nightstalkers to prominence (well that shit failed miserably).

I'm actually looking forward to this weeks ep of Blade the TV series just because of who is showing up...

I Think Blade 2 already sucked. Part 1 was awesome, one of my favorite movies just because it was such a good story on it's own. They did some great casting for that one.

Imagine Warner introducing Robin in The Dark Knight when it comes out.

That's how I felt when I saw Blade 2. Why the hell must awesome, badass superheroes get stuck with some lame-ass sidekicks? It fukcs up the entire lone ranger thing. Some geeky group of vampires called "the blood pact"... :lol

I was typing up a reply about how tepid it is to link vampires to non-mainstream cultures like raving and shit metal like Blade and Underworld do, but then I realized you were talking about Blade Trinity, not the Blade Trilogy.

well, it pretty much began with "action" and ended with "that's a wrap, folks." :lol

seriously though, 2 was SO good. I'm gonna put my money down on The Curse of Parker Posey, as she seems to be The Kiss of Death for big budget, mainstream flicks...

Blade 2 was a fairly mindless action movie, much moreso than the first one. Blade Trinity just followed the typical Hollywood recipe to a t. It was just another bad Hollywood movie.

I think the worst part of Blade Trinity was the camera work, especially during action scenes. Shaky, choppy, and all over the place. It's hard to see what's going on exactly during the fight, and overall it just sucked balls. Movies that do that shit just piss me off to no end.

I think Blade 2 is one of the greatest action movies of all time. And to hell with that Dane Cook clone that's in 3. 3 barely had any blade in it and such a forgettable soundtrack. CALLING ALL FREAKS!

I think Blade 2 is one of the greatest action movies of all time.

TESTIFY!

Where Blade 3 went wrong was succumbing to Snipes ego. Just listen to his commentary on Blade 2 and you can see how his stupid ass was hell bent on ruining his franchise.

They should have brought Del Toro back and let him make his I Am Legend w/ Blade sequel. It was supposed to start with Blade forging a new sword, then going out to do combat on a planet overrun with vampires.

Holy ****. It would have been violence porn! Ah well.

Strange seeing my last name.

It's too bad Blade 3 turned out badly, at least for Blade himself, I really like the character. Dracula was so horrible though.

Problem number one: product placement. It ruined the film

Problem number two: Ryan Reynolds and his one-liners

Problem number three: Parker Posey

I actually enjoyed it the first time I saw it...but when I watched it on DVD and again recently on SkyHD, and it's a terrible film. Blade/Blade 2 are both so much better

Isn't the guy taller than Snipes?

Yes... but Snipes is only 5' 10 so that's not hard. But Dracula only being 6'1..... he should if physically if not in presence tower over everyone else. He just wasn't imposing in voice or in action... like someone here said he was a bitch... Drake... just thinking about it makes me want to bang my head in to the wall.

Oh... and for the record... I love how Drake wiped out almost all the Nightstalkers. Hi we're the Nightstalkers a super vampire-kickin squad... 1 day later... Hi we're all dead!

I enjoyed some of Ryan's one-liners... but then it just got f'n ridiculous... when he says... "he hates me doesn't he". I was thinking I sure f'n do!

What screwed Blade 3, is that Snipes was so pissed with the studio that he didn't sit in on final editing like he did the first 2 films. Although i like 3, it's basically not a Blade movie, they wanted to use Blade to promote a Nightstalker spin off, thats why Blade isn't really the main focus of his own movie.

Ryan Reynolds jokes, while some were well delivered? there's no way Blade doesn't knock this kid out.

Blade 2 was a big pile of Monkey POOP.

Bland bad guys, Crappy location, Eurotrash look and feel.

What made Blade 1 really cool was Stephen Dorf, the urban look and feel, and memorable characters.

Dracula should not have a shaved head. Triple H should not be in movies. Dracula should not be a part of a musical interlude. David Goyer should not direct.

Blade 2 has one of the best opening action scenes I've ever seen. Blade is so ****ing mean. I love it.

**** 'in A. I always think of what could have been. There was supposedly a movie coming out based on that, but where the hell is that film? I just want a decent ending to the franchise. It's due time that I watch it again, but what kinda crap did Snipes say in the commentary? Did he actually want less screentime to introduce some new brat pack? This is the thing keeping me from totally respecting Jessica Biel (who'll one day play The Boss).

I saw the one where they were in a dance club and then it started raining blood and I changed the channel.
It wasn't rain, it was a sprinkler system to feed the damned raving hippies. Shit, it's a sin people ignore this movie and actually enjoy tripe like the Underworld movies. Damned ripoff.

The I Am Legend plot for the final Blade got tanked due to budget concerns... the I Am Legend movie itself I believe is still floating in development hell. Supposedly it's now looking at a release date next year with Will f'n Smith in the lead role. <sigh>

Anyone read the book? I read it a few years back and I ended up being confused by the 2nd half. I understand the the first half runs really close to the movie it inspired... well one of the movies it inspired Omega Man.. or was Last Man on Earth closer... one of them was... anyway somebody dies in the middle of the book... an important somebody... and then the plot just completely lost me...

i was watching Constantine the other day and although it was a very different movie from Blade it made me think about how overplayed this "dark underword in modern society" thing is in movies

there's like 5 of them a year now

2 was sooo good, and 3 just sucked so bad... the bad guy was laughable!

Part 2 as a stand alone movie is one of the greatest vampire action movies ever. (part 1 was decent, but not as legendary as 2)

Totally agreed. Blade 2 was fantastic. Plus Ron Perlman! C'mon!

Correct.

UNDERWORLD being the epitome of angsty teenage action underworld seedy belly flicks with superpowers mixed in for sci-fi buffs.

Blade > Blade 2 > Blade Trinity

Blade 2 had by far the best action, but man, it got rid of of all the best dramatic moments in Blade 1. The vampire hunters being so poor that they have to pawn stuff they get from vampire corpses to eke by and Whistler's death were all nullified by the super crime lab that Blade somehow got for himself in the second movie and the way they brought Whistler back was dumb too.

Blade 2> Blade>Blade TV>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Blade Trinity.
Yes, i loved Blade 2 and i'm not ashamed to admit it. :D . Badass Blade, excellent action scenes, no lame characters, Ron Perlman, Whistler being back, etc. Blade Trinity was terrible, lame villain (worst Dracula ever along with the Van Helsing one), ****ING Nightstalkers hogging all of Blade screen time, product placement, terrible way to kill Whistler AGAIN, the ending, everything sucked. Poor Blade.
