How did you discover NeoGaf?

Way back when, I used to go to GameFAQs to look for video game answers. Then I realized that people were actually discussing about video games, and not just giving guides and stuff. I think it was in those GameFAQs forums that there were mentions of Neogaf, about how you had to "register" and be verified of your nerdiness or something before you could join this gaming nexus. Apparently all the news and cool video game tricks somehow originated from this place called Neogaf. Took me a while to actually sign up to post something.

I heard David Jaffe talking about it on his website because I was really into God of War at the time. Was bored at work and signed up.

It was the most popular gaming forum on the net. It was also infested by the human garbage that has since migrated to Retardera. After those empathetic, progressive, understanding psychos left, spamming the forum with gay porn, and worse, in the process, I signed up. It was a wasteland at first, but still 100 times better than it was when they were stinking the place up.

I'm a hobby game dev who -months before the debacle and resetera- wanted in on the indie gamedev thread. Can't seem to find it anymore and now use NeoGAF mainly for shitposting with an occasional gem dropped in.

Looking for console war ammo during the PS3 gen.

I lurked until you finally dropped that stupid e-mail requirement.

Console leaks (previous gen). Some dude who was typing in weirdo ways was active back then.

During some E3, I can't recalll what year. I searched on Google for something like "E3 discussions" and it led me here. I lurked for years before signing up.

Found era through the switch subreddit. listened to the horror stories about this place and how I should never make an account here and here I am.

I've been a member for 8 years, and couldn't sign up before that because my ISP email wasn't accepted.

10 years ago if you were part of any online community you eventually heard about NeoGAF. That was just how it was. Other communities were the small town and GAF was the big city.

Had always heard of it but it was mostly the controversy.

You have to remember that pre-fallout, NeoGAF was sort of a joke among other online circles due to the inmates running the place at the time. There's a reason all the laugh-at-GAF threads on other sites are now laugh-at-ERA threads. I dipped in here and there during the blowout, saw that the most insane people were jumping ship and decided to stick around, and haven't left.

One long ass time ago we used to play these things called PS2s, laughed at gamecube (lol lunchbox) and discussed in forensic detail the weekly games and consoles sales data coming out of Japan. It was the best place to nerd out and share this sales data which was gold, sales age it was known as. There was some great gif of some user called gahgiddy who went to bat for Nintendo and it was a Nintendo game where gg wakes up and sees the new weeks sales data with Nintendo getting stomped again, and his subsequent attempts to downplay this on neogaf with a counter titled "times owned" accelerating and eventually breaking. Good times.

First caught wind of it a couple of years ago from another game forum I was registered at, but I was never interested in signing up because I thought it was too big and too much of a hassle to create an account. Wasn't a fan of writing in English either.

When the game forum I was registered at went down due to financial issues I had nowhere to go if I wanted to talk games. So I kinda ditched the internet for some time. Then by some coincident I heard that NeoGAF had burned down to the ground due to a major controversy and was trying to reboot itself.

I decided then to try and create an account because I wanted to be apart of a gaming community again. Was approved only a couple of hours after I registered and then I decided to stay. Have never regretted it since. I think GAF is a great place for gaming and it's been fun to see all the changes taking place and see the community rebuild itself from the ground up.

NeoGAF was the fastest source for video game news with many knowledgable people around, which is why I joined. It also took a lot of time to get approved back then. I was very surprised my username was not taken yet.

One of the typical cello-shaped rainbow-haired SJWs in a retro gaming group I am in was shit talking about NeoGAF several years ago, going on about how it was a hangout for bigots and needed to be shut down for the good of the gaming community. So of course I was interested in anything that could trigger this person and came to lurk for a bit.

Turns out it's a great community with a lot of different opinions. I think in her mind, any group of people that doesn't fully agree with her progressive worldview must be racists and bigots and 'phobes and all the rest, which says a lot more about her (and people like her) than it does anyone here or the group as a whole.

Glad I found this place.

From gametrailers. There was a documentary about neogaf. I tried registering but I couldn't due to free mail. A few years later, neogaf started accepting free mails and here I am.

Sometime in 2000. I believe it was in one of the forums that was linked or would become Planet Gamecube. At the time there was the PS2 vs Gamecube processor wars over how many millions of polygons they could do. In that forum was the poster Deadmeat who had been arguing and had a link to GAF. In curiosity I checked it out and I never really turned around since.

I caught a 1 month ban from the system wars board at Gamespot I think for saying that if you believed something (I forget what) you were an idiot. So probably googled for a new board and found Neogaf.

I honestly don't remember. Maybe on other forums? I used to be active on gamefaqs back in the day so maybe there. NeoGaf had a rep for being the place for inside info and such. took a while but I was happy when my account was finally approved.

Read a little bit of it as a lurker after the PS3 came out but almost forgot about it. I have made videos and written blogs about preserving classic animation and have been on a rant about likewise preserving classic anime. I know that can be a controversial topic and I noticed that Reddit and YouTube would not support me arguments and were extremely wishy-washy. More people complained about the "ugly, old, gritty" animation and even anime forums would cringe if you dared talk about anything of anime that wasn't made in the last 18-years. There was this one rogue website of forums (NeoGAF) which was allowing both sides to support of defend classic anime. I read through every page of the thread and thought: this place is for gaming and supports other artist mediums...that's awesome.

So, I'd say Corpsepyre Corpsepyre for making this and Hex:

and reading how hard EviLore EviLore fought to keep GAF going after the whole Reset thing happened like 3 1/2-years ago. I didn't join sooner because some of the old more seemed more like trolls (pretty sure they all left).

Many years ago i used to hang on VGChartz. Since sales numbers are an important topic over there and NPD numbers used to leak here, i naturally became aware of this place.

Googled about the "Don't get cocky, kid." achievement in Dead Space and a thread came up about it. Used to lurk from around then until I joined in 2012 because I had no way to join through that email filter.

Gamespot forums IIRC. Used to browse the system wars section a lot and saw GAF referenced for NPD leaks, insider stuff, etc. I got tired of the general lack of quality discourse at GS so I signed up here and the rest is history.

Through ign boards via a Wii leak thread. Wasn't able to register until 2006 since I didn't have an @edu.com email address.

Was on the IGN Boards. My brother mentioned a place called NeoGAF and that it was better than IGN. Decided to jump ship. (about eleven years ago now.)

From videogames news in general.
You'd often read how something was "leaked on Neogaf" or how "Neogaf users have discovered....", etc

It was mentioned on the IGN boards when IGN was going paid only (back in the early 2000's) and I jumped over.

A long time ago i decided to leave a forum i spent most of my time at. I was looking for a more exclusive place after that, and after several other forums that turned out to be failures, i found GAF.
I am here ever since. 7 years.
I saw good times, i saw bad times, and back to good now.
GAF i home

I was posting on the fohguild forums and I think someone linked a thread to NeoGAF. Never looked back after that!

2006-2007. A friend of mine sent me a link through MSN Messenger of some MGS4 news thread and I immediately joined using my mum's work email. May that account RIP
