Hulk Hogan Dead at 71

Put another way all the pro-wrestlers that competed in the main events of Wrestlemanias 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are dead with the death of Hogan. (Wrestlemania 1 is a bit of an exception since there's one survivor, Mr. T)
When Mr T goes. Only really hasslehoff and Peter Cullen left as the voices heroes of my childhood knight rider was the shit.

I bet. He wasn't perfect I know but far from a monster. Anyone that isn't lock step in with their beliefs and perfectly moral human is demonized.

RIP to a part of my childhood.

Hopefully HBO or the like does a solid documentary on him. The one on Andre The Giant is one of my fav sports documenatries of all time and a lot of it is due to Hogan's interview throughout.

The real shocker is making it to 71 in a business that buries its stars a lot younger usually. The toll of the physicality of the biz, mixed with decades of steroids/drug abuse usually takes em out sooner.
Hulk was by all accounts a fairly terrible human being, but an icon of the business and undoubtedly helped propel wrasslin to heights it had never been too beforehand.
RIP Hulkster!

As a kid, I found him to be quite good as an entertainer. As an adult, I can't really praise him as a person. I won't do so now either.

I do wish, for the sake of his family and friends, that they will find peace and overcome this sad event in their lives.

One of those people who feels like they'll be around forever, mainly because he looked the same age since the early 80's. Despite his personal flaws, the legendary backstage politicking and his never-ending lies (like playing bass for Metallica), he was still a part of my childhood and I'm sad to hear this. My parents refused to pay for Sky so I had no way of watching it, but one day my Dad went to the recyling centre and brought back a big stack of WWF magazines. Every article about the British Bulldog had been cut out but I didn't care, I loved them anyway.

Psychotic. How do you win or get any pass with those idiots.

RIP, wasn't the best dude in behaviour but clearly had some positive impact on some folks for his entertaining.

Yep, downright disgusting over there. And yet, its nothing but praise for Ozzy. The guy who is 1000% on record for beating the shit out of his wife multiple times- knocked out her front teeth once. Now, it's kind of absurd to try and rank awful shit, but I do put giving your spouse a disfiguring beating far worse than a drink/drug addled racist rant- but both are clearly awful behavior.

Still, mistakes don't 100% define people, and I enjoyed the careers of both people and are sad to see them pass. I just think there is a lot of hypocrisy over there, though.

Damn. This is a crazy week. Loved the Hulkster as a kid.

As a kid in the '80s, I was admittedly one of the millions of Hulkamaniacs running wild in the world.

I tell younger kids that I wasn't into comics when I was a kid because babyface and heel wrestlers in the 1980s felt like superheroes and supervillains.

RIP.

This week really sucks. I know for a fact my unhinged brainwashed liberal cousin will be dancing on his grave over this news. God help him and others like him. RIP Hulkster. Drop that leg for me on Saint Peter, all in good fun of course.

Twitter and every single reddit sub is also spewing their hate. Must be a day ending in Y.

I remember thinking Hogan and Flair were at least 65 years old even back in the late 90s.

And they wonder why their opponents are so radicalized against them.

Dude just died, anyone pissing on his grave is just pissing against the wind. Religious or atheist, both sides can harmoniously come together at the notion of "he's dead, he doesn't care that BLMSonicTheEdgehog69 made a pithy statement about his lunch in reference to his utter disregard for the man's life,"

It's sad and it must be a miserable way to exist day in and day out. Nevermind the implications if you ARE religious, or believe in karma as a universal function or whatever, because being gleeful about someone's death knowing that the negativity won't affect the person you're harboring it for, nor change the situation at all for no reason beyond spite kind of sounds like the definition of evil. It's shit talking on the internet, it's not a big deal, I get it. But consider if one is willing to exert such negative energy over something like clout, what would they immediately slither into if the implied reward was higher. Where's there's smoke and all that.

Hulk Hogan vs The Rock is still one of the greatest matches I've ever watched. Hogan is easily on my Mt. Rushmore of wrestling greats. RIP brother
One of the greatest matches ever and it didn't need to have flips, superkicks and other ridiculous gymnastic bullshit every five seconds. True classic wrestling match.

Growing up, Hulk was my favorite wrestler (him and Ultimate Warrior) but in the last few years seeing him and HEARING him say the N-Word about who his daughter was "fucking" and his views on black and brown people in general... Made me sour on him.

Still though, he inspired a lot of people back in the day so I'll honor THAT and not who he became. (paraphrasing Jor-El from Man of Steel)

RIP Hulkster

Well said and to add on that, I think this is a legitimate example of what's widely frowned upon in online circles: "spreading hate." Looking down your nose at someone and celebrating their death sounds like a textbook example of hatred to me.

See, I think this opinion is certainly valid and it's not even wrong to convey mixed feelings like that so soon after his death. It's more the way some people react that really comes across as gross, gleefully making pithy and nasty comments about someone who just died.

RIP.
2 legends gone in a week is crazy.
He was one of those people that you just knew about even having grown up outside of the US and never really cared much about wrestling in general

Mirrior's reflection for those IMO.

I just skimmed the purple thread. Someone ragged on Ozzy. I didnt follow what Ozzy said, but according to him I guess Ozzy at some point supported Israel (is that true?). So basically fuck both of them. Wow. Craziest people ever.

But just like real life, all the crazy people nobody wants to interact with (including their own family) often bands together into their hermit hate mobs patting themselves on the back thinking they are superstars while everyone else are oppressors. And the funny is these kinds of people are so anti-social they dont even interact with similar people personally, but by social media and forums since even they dont even want to meet like minded people directly.

All the while, they wonder why the rest of society thinks they are lazy and total weirdos. Imagine having holiday dinner with the fam and someone in the fam is like a purple forum user. Surely a great dinner that will be. lol. Before the guy passes the potatoes, you got to hear a rant about Trump or Ozzy Osbourne supports Jews.

That's why having mixed feelings should not be shamed. He WAS racist but we didn't find this out until MUCH later in his life (thanks to that reality show, I think?) but there's no denying the IMPACT he had on little boys and girls who would choose wrestling or even firefighting, the military or police work as a vocation because of his inspiring character of Hulk Hogan in the 80s and early 90s.
