Hulk Hogan Dead at 71

A bit of Americana died.
I've been thinking the exact same thing. I'm not even a pro wrestling guy (I appreciate it for what it is, it's just not my thing) and seeing Hulk Hogan throughout my life has prompted this interest in me over the last two or three years to watch old promos and matches from the 80s through the 00s of WWE and their now defunct competitor (I think WCW?).

I don't play Street Fighter, but I love the aesthetic and music of the SF 3 games. I think I heard that Hulk was one of multiple inspirations for Alex. If I ever play SF, Alex is going to be my main.

Alex was certainly inspired in part by hulk Hogan from the shirt ripping to having an Alex vs Hugo match start with a character unique stare down which mimics Hulk Hogan vs Andre the giant from WrestleMania 3

Dang, this guy was kind of THE wrestler growing up. I like when he says LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING BROTHER

ResetEra showing its despicable colors as expected though. I've decided never to give them hits again.
You know it's about to get real when a white man hits you with any variation on "Now listen here buddy". Love that hah.

I read that Peter Thiel paid for the Hulkster high powered attorneys for the trial as a revenge for Gwaker having outed as gay him in the past. This affair was just a case of homophobic pieces of shit getting their comeuppance. She should be praising Hogan for inflicting deserved karma to bigots...

Also i wonder if this woman feels very proud to be called "d'Entremont", thinking that it sounds posh and european ?
Entremont is actually a cheap cheese brand in France. It would be like being named "Le Costco" or something.

Really? LOL Maga? The idiots who would celebrate ANYTHING bad to happen to others as long as they're not white? OK...and fuck hogan, a real american POS.
Who did they celebrate dying?

I have never seen maga take pleasure in death and murder like the left. That luigi guy, the submarine, the queen, the guy who died at the trump rally. All caused orgies of pleasure for the left.

Just checked to see what they had to say. What a disgusting piece of shit forum.
I get that people had issues with him, but this level of joy? You'd think he invaded a country, not a wrestling ring

Like I've said before, they're always in a race to see who can be the most performatively righteous

I'm not talking about in here. Just in general. It's like you can't feel a way about someone that just died. Death is always painful. Just because YOU didn't like the person doesn't meant they were $hitty their whole lives or that no one missed them. I'm seeing a whole lot of "you should only say good things about this dead person" and "oh, they died? Let's party" ...

Yea I don't think what you're describing is happening or actual reality. No one is shaming anyone for having mixed feelings about celebrities after they die. People use it as an opportunity to dog pile and shit on people. That's the issue.

Are you watching the WWE and WCW vaults on youtube? Talk about a trip down memory lane. I've been watching WCW Nitro episodes being released in weekly sequence like we're back in 1997.

How do you explain that he exercised a lot until that age, while Ozzy, who smoked, took drugs, drank alcohol, and was overweight, lived longer?

Hulk Hogan was a huge guy, and that usually comes with increased heart disease risk. He was also obviously a user of steroids (and probably painkillers like everyone else back then), so there is another risk there as well. It's actually surprising he made it into his 70s, IMO.

And that's only the start of it. The wrestling business is infamous for using tons and tons of drugs.(Including cocaine and alcohol.) The wrestlers partied like they were rock stars.

It wasn't in Florida, it was in LA.

Soon after he endorsed Trump and the election so I think it's pretty safe to say it was a very left leaning Californian crowd. People tried to excuse it as past stuff and spruiking the beer, but c'mon, the timing. It was in January.
The fact is the vast majority of the WWE audience have no clue about his shitty personal past that's talked about on reddit and in YouTube video essays. Him being booed the last time he was on RAW was 100% to do with his politics and where that event took place. If he wasn't promoting his beer he would have switched into Hollywood and started insulting the fucks but he had investors in a new business venture to think about.

Some of the stuff I've seen online in the wake of his death yesterday is absolutely sickening and it shows how hypocritical the people on the purple site are by in one breath decrying hate then in the next spewing hatred when it suits them. I can't imagine what it will be like when Trump passes away if he does so in the near future.

At the end of the day for as much as I've loved it in my life pro wrestling is very, very strange lol. It's a mix of athletics, stuntmen, theatre, circus, gymnastics and soap opera all mixed into one. It's truly unique. From what happens in the ring to the backstage politics to all the shoot interviews and obviously the men behind the characters we all loved as kids.

Hulk Hogan was the Ali, Jordan, Woods, Babe Ruth, Wayne Gretzky of his industry. Pro wrestling today would not exist in the form that it does without him. He headlined 9 of the first 10 WrestleManias and headlined in total 90+ pay per view events. He almost single handedly made a rival to WWF's dominance with his contributions to WCW in '94 and arguably co-started the Attitude Era with the formation of the New World Order in '95.

And for that whether you liked him or not he should at least have respect for what he achieved in life, in death.

Rip Hulkster.

The biggest star in the world of professional wrestling. Thats not throwing shade at The Rock or Steve Austin (whom Austin did make more money in his run than Hogan reportedly) but Hogan was the face of the then wwf national and later international expansion. Even non-wrestling fans for the last couple of decades knew who he was. He continued to be a mega star in wcw even.

There's always a debate to what the biggest moments in professional wrestling are. They differ person to person, but Hogan bodyslamming Andre and the insane atmosphere and reaction of Rock vs Hogan at WrestleMania 18 top many and the crazy thing is Hulk has do many more top moments too.

To be honest I am the type of guy who doesnt get behind the whole celebrity thing. You're just a man or woman. That said there are some people in life that through their accolades become legendary. Hulk Hogan was such a person.

He's the Prince of Fucking Darkness man. He is eternal.

As is Hulkster. Damn man, all the legends are going. I was a Hulkamaniac as a kid. I haven't watched wrestling in over thirty years as I'm a functional adult, but I'll always have good memories of childhood days dressing as Hulk and trying to rip my shirt off out back behind the house. He made a lot of childhoods for a lot of boys in the 80's man..... he'll be missed.

I'm thinking it was likely that. Recall Schwarzenegger ended up having heart surgery himself a number of years ago (which is why he's probably still with us). Not only that but an old school friend of mine was diagnosed with an enlarged heart do to himself using such things while he had been in the navy decades ago.

My wife went out and found some of his beer for me so I could honor him properly with a nice shotgunning session.

She said she went to like 4 places and they were all sold out, then she found a place that had a single 12 pack left.

RIP Hulkster, tonight I drink to you.

I wanted to get a can to keep on my wrestling shelf since it'd be a nice memento but I think they only sell it in America

Burned down

I skimmed google about her yesterday. Turns out she's a big science promoter who often tries to debunk sketchy health products. Sounds ok I guess.

But then another article from someone who battled her posted she's a con. She's actually a big promoter of big corporate chemical companies who'd sponsor her content including Dupont and Monsanto.

Anything for a buck.

Oh man that sucks, Im keeping a can as well for a momento.

I was going to say I'll send you one but it looks like shipping alcohol internationally is not an easy undertaking lol.

The submarine? There was an innocent kid (he was 17) on there who didn't want to go on it. Wtf
