it's kind of a weird thing to say, but I can't imagine how anyone can care about bullshit like the revolution or 'i'm so lonely' at a time like this. i'm just sitting here praying for people to be safe and fed. ughhh.
DJ Sl4m said:LOL, no assistance ? Yeah right, such BS.
The only ones who couldn't evacute are the elderly/sick or handicapped.
They were ordered to leave, and had many city buses shuttling people to the dome for 2 days.
The healthy people who decided to stay with intentions to loot, deserve thier ill chosen fate IMO.
Not all the ones who remained are 'victims' of the storm, many are victims of thier own greed and failed plan.

JeffDowns said:Easier said than done..... Are you poor? Have you ever been poor? Are you amongst some of the poorest in the Nation? That's doubtful. Saying that whole entire city could have been evacuated is ludicrous, and claiming that EVERYONE who stayed behind was doing so with intentions to loot is utterly sickening to me. Do you know these people's situations? Have you lived but a day in their shoes? Do you even live in a densely populated urban area? There are MANY upon MANY reasons why a lot of the people did not evacuate, maybe it was money, maybe it was family, maybe they just didn't have the means to do so... You make it sound so simple and uncomplicated. Weve viewed your rhetoric many times, and I think youve made your point . True the people who are looting are in the wrong, but that in NO WAY WHATSOEVER means that everyone that stayed behind had intentions to effectively destroy the city. The fact that you group everyone into one type of people is just the type of thing racism and every other type of stereotype is built upon. Enough of you continued heartlessness. You have no idea what the people down there are going through, so stick a cork in it already!!!
Lardbutt said:That's awesome news?
If all these people die of dehydration cuz they can't evacuate them out soon enough, then what good will food stamps do?

White House backpedalling from criticism that it cut the budget of the ACoE. I wonder how they will spin years of facts this time?
These (projects) were not funded at the full ability of the Corps of Engineers to execute the project," said Lt. Gen. Carl Strock, commander of the Army Corps of Engineers. "But the important question is, 'Would that have made a difference?' And my assessment is, no, it would not."
DJ Sl4m said:The buses didn't have to evacuate the entire city, most in the city have vehichles, friends and had offers.
The buses were FREE idiot, you dont live here, there and probably never have.
You arrogant fucking uninformed fool have no clue wtf shit you spout, it happens every gotdamn time NO has an evacuation, only this time it's nationwide coverage and the sympothy of everyone feeling sad for those trying to live.
ew up poor, and dont you EVER fucking talk down to me again BOY, I know how it is, and can imagine those without trying to escape.
Have you seen the vids os people refusing to leave even afterit was being flooded while they sat on thier porch, bitching for the city to start the pumps ? I bet not, in factI know you havem't.
You're a clueless fuck ASSUming the story that you want, you have no clue everything the US main meida isn't showing or telling.

End of subject.
Phoenix said:So you're saying several hundred thousand people refused to leave?
DJ Sl4m said:I'm talking about those refusing to leave thier homes and even go to the Dome or convention center, there are not several houndred thousand still at thier homes.
Phoenix said:Heh... so the rest of the LA Levee Board and the Engineers that put the plan together to build a plan to survive an upto Category 5 hurricane were retarded?
JeffDowns said:Wow, hit a nerve there didn't I? YES apparently I did. You have absolutely no class as proven by your reply littered with putdowns, bad English and curse words. You're just as bad as everyone who stayed behind in NO. Yes everyone, because according to you if they werent elderly they're ALL looters. Do you know every person's personal life story who didn't leave NO? Do you know their situations Ms. Cleo? No, you don't, so stop generalizing. Use your head and THINK about the possibilities. You claim I just listen to the general media, yet you're the one who thinks everyone who didn't leave NO are looters because you saw a few people on TV refuse means to get out of the city? :lol
Phoenix said:So you're talking about 10s of thousands then - 10s of thousands of people refused to leave their homes.
My guess would be something to do with the shit ton of new Republicans just elected to Congress, honoring their "Contract on America".ToxicAdam said:When was this plan put into place, and what stopped it from occurring? Why wasn't this plan put into place initially in 1995?
DJ Sl4m said:Just admit you're clueless assuming that whatever the mainstream media tells you is the thruth.
You dont live around here, probably never have had to deal with a large hurricane and it's conditions (i've been through many) or had several thousand people looting and robbing your friend after being helped in yourt hometown only to have them act like total savages.
ToxicAdam said:When was this plan put into place, and what stopped it from occurring? Why wasn't this plan put into place initially in 1995?
JeffDowns said:I understand and I sympathize with you, and all who are going through this. True, I do not know first hand what the people down there are going through, thankfully I've never had to go through something so terrible. All I'm saying is don't put everybody in one class just because some want to be ignorant and rob and steal from the community. That's my whole point. They way you came off was like everyone who stayed there DESERVED to go through this hell. No one deserves this. No one.

If yuou go back and read ALL my posts in this thread I think you'll see I'm agreeing to that.

Asses like this do this every hurricane ecacuation.
Do us both a favor and go back and read all my posts in this thread.
I appologize if I offended you, it happens when people dont read the full thread.
I do that as well, and have done the same before, I know you meant well, it's jusy been a hellacious week.
I'm emotionally, physically and spiritually whooped and feeling very defensive right now, because of the circumstances.
My brother lives in Slidell, my cousin lived in NO, and I can't reach either.

Phoenix said:The plan to deal with the Lake Ponchatrain issue was brought up in the 70s and 80s. Commercial projects were given priority. Shell dredging was given priority and it quickened erosion. The wetlands that keep Lake Ponchatrain so far from the city were supposed to have been a priority back in the 70s - never happened. There were MANY projects proposed to address the issues surrounding the levee and the spillways and the canals that just never happened. Over the years there WERE many things done to help alleviate many of the problems which is why early on I said that for certain there would be flooding... and we KNEW there would be flooding because there are always parts of the city (and yes many of those are the poorer areas of the city) that flood and with certainty would flood again. Hell even down where Xavier university is there was an absolute expectation of flooding.
What stopped all of the 'special' projects from occurring - money and mismanagement of money via studies and similar.

DJ Sl4m said:From a population of how many ?
Exactely, that's terrible, but still a very small number compared to the overall population.
ToxicAdam said:So really, SELA was just the government finally stepping in and saying 'enough is enough' after the floods of the early 90's.. Because it appears (by what you say) the local and state governments squandered ALOT of time and money in those decades. Shouldn;t they receive the brunt of this blame? Not some cutbacks that happened less than two years ago?
But it still doesn't answer why priority wasn't given to creating level 5 protection when initially planned in 1995. They knew about the risks then also.

I am kind of disheartened by the small amount of coverage about Mississippi and Alabama, they were hit very hard as well; wasn't Georgia also hit?
