Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

YOU SHOULDA JUST HEARD ME! Practically threw my controller out of my hands!!!

Feeling VERY accomplished right now.

Am now one of the few. What a rush lol. Played with no sound but the clicking of my thumb.

Before this I actually made it to 733 before I slid and then I stared at my screen for a bit. Felt so down and stopped playing. Got right back in after an hour though.

Whew, that took a while

But it was worth it! It's actually false though, you don't need the black cape for it, the reward for completing horde mode, the only thing I haven't done yet. I doubt I will, always die in the later waves.

Black Cape is NG+. Not hoard mode.

Did you get any 700's? I got a 780 and my heart near shattered.

Would you name me a few games that are similar to this Hyper Light Drifter?
It reminds me to A Link to the Past, Isaac, an Rpg,...

FEZ with it's mysteries and collecting gold cubes... and of course, Disasterpeace soundtrack.

2D Zelda with it's weapons and options and upgrades.

Art Style is it's own. Pixel-Perfect Pixel Art in every frame.

Game is everything I wanted it to be and more. GOTY for me, without question.

Edit: Whoops, double post.

Does every dungeon have a corner piece? Because I have searched the dungeon north of the
crystal forest teleporter
and I can't find a thing. I just come out the other side near the boss door.

Was playing for a bit, I really enjoy the small stories, simply told by a few pictures. Started in the west, couldn't progress as I wasn't able to retrieve a single shard (the crystals on the ground are fucking stupid btw), east was pretty straight forward, though.

Question: has anyone got the second key via backerkit? I'm still waiting for mine after contacting Alex.

Just wow.
Writing my post I was thinking about Fez too but I forgot to mention,
You pumped my hype so much! Thanks.

I really would like to play it on Vita. :(

Bought the game in the Steam Summer Sale and I am currently playing and enjoying it. Beat the North and I'm slowly playing through the West. I didn't bother me as much in the North but in the forest the 30FPS are really hurting the game for me. Is there any way to bring it to 60?

Vita port in the fall!!

Bro, the music is so good. It sets the atmosphere so well. Certain tones queued in at specific moments. The sound effects top notch as well. God, i didn't think any game could top FEZ as my favorite indie... But this might do it by the end!!

Right, I give in, can somebody please tell me what those giant stone slab things are with the mysterious symbols on them I keep lighting up?

And where in God's name do I get keys from?

The slabs have a double purpose:
if you find every one of them they unlock a new outfit. You can find them gathered somewhere in the north area. They also have info on the world in a coded language, much like FEZ. You can find translations online.

The keys are found in secret locations throughout the world, you'll stumble on some if you explore.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but I'm still stuck exploring in the West area, currently trying to find/activate a triangle piece.

According to the map I'm stood in the darn room where it is! My little Drifter is stood on the purple diamond on the map. I can't see it anywhere. Do I need to do something to activate it, or make it appear? I hope this rings a bell to somebody, or else I'll sound like a crazy person.

Remember that the map isn't that accurate: if you see the Drifter on a particular location, it just means he's in that general area, not on that location exactly. For instance in the underground areas you'll always see him in the center of that area, not exactly where he is at that point. So you'll need to move in that area (without entering another one) to find the piece.

Yeah I think I've figured that out, and I've fully explored the room with the purple diamond in it according to the map, and I just can't see anything :( I'm useless. Going to give it another try in a moment and see if I spot something different this time.

I've managed to find what I was looking for, it's on a little platform of its own down in the bottom right of the screen. Only problem is it's too far away to drift across to. Is there an upgrade I'm supposed to get which increases the length of my drift? Otherwise I have no idea how else to get there.

I'm so confused about equipment, the shops or whatever. Do I ever use that stuff?

Yeah it's most definitely recommended you use the shops to get upgrades, makes the game a lot more tolerable.

I've just beaten the west boss. He wasn't too bad. To the south I go! I'm determined to finish this game. I always shy away from challenging games, this is a personal challenge for myself.

Good luck man just remember to activate at least 4 modules in each section to get to the last boss if you don't already know. I just beat the game in today logging a little over 7 hours and I love the game. Probably jump back into another playthrough later this year.

I've activated 4 in west, east and north so I'll be making sure to do that in the south, or else I'd be feeling like I haven't really finished it.

Yeah I'm not doing NG+ anytime soon. To make matters slightly easier though: you can equip a different color sword and spirit, so you can up your hp to 3 and pick another outfit upgrade. You can't switch the cape though, that has to stay black. But the unlocked outfits aren't there at the start, so you have to get them again.

Oh for those that don't know, in general: the outfit effects stack, so you can pick 3 different outfit colors and get all their effects, like quicker sword slashes, faster ammo/stamina regen, etc.

Defeated the north boss. Took about 20 minutes and some frustrations but I got him. Didn't realize I was walking into a boss till I was there.

Game is a ton of fun and scratches that Dark Souls style of exploration and challenging gameplay for me. I'm going to try and play the whole thing blind without any guides.

Also I forgot to say, three bosses down and I still haven't unlocked a single trophy! I mean come on, how tight can a game be at dishing them out.

Pretty tight. There are some challenging ones. The dash challenge that myself and a handful of others here have done got a gold trophy for it. Love that they put effort into them.

Okay so I've been playing for maybe 2-3 hours and im stuck, I tried going east and met some weird dude who showed me some stuff on my map but I couldn't "activate" any of them so i said forget it and went north and I got to the "end" I activated 2 of the switches but I dunno how im supposed to activate the other 2 doors since they require 3 and 4 switches to open I guess.

You can go any direction other than south first. There's definitely something you're missing. East is objectively the easiest and west is the hardest. Maybe try North. People have said that is the most straight forward in terms of directions and navigation.

Also, obvious but should be said: explore as much as you can!

Can you unlock/collect everything once you beat the game? Not talking about NG+, just talking about 100%'ing it to completion without starting over.

Interesting, so are there missable unlocks that can never be achieved if you beat the game? Can you return to the game after you beat it without having to NG+?

I don't think anything is missable... But I haven't beaten the game. The stuff in NG+ is exclsuive to NG+. Granted, this is all based off what I've read on here! Haven't beaten it yet.

Thanks, I went north and killed the boss, is it just me or does those skinny bird wizards look like MC's, I mean they have hoods and chains and look like they're about to drop phat rhymes.

Anyway went back East and now I'm making some progress thanks for the input

You can go back to your old save after beating the game, so you can collect everything on your old save. To 100% (needed for the hoarder achievement), you have to collect everything in the vanilla game.

NG+ only gives you the black cape, which isn't needed for 100%. Just don't save over your other file if you start NG+.
