Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

Yes. Each outfit does various effects. I say outfit since you can combine effects from three different outfits: cloak, weapon, and companion.

Orange
charges your grenade up faster.

cool, thanks! utterly useless for me so far as i don't have those yet but i know what my next purchase will be.
so as long as i have one piece of the outfit, i get the effect?

OK, I am a bit stuck, just wondering round aimlessly not knowing what to do.

I went east, collecting 3 quarters (I think, no map legend, so we knows what the icons mean) got the where the bosses is (supposed to be) but the expanse of water that I need to traverse is too large to dash across.

What am I missing, I don't generally need hand holding but this game is too stand offish for me!

It's not an easy game to try help somebody with because the map is so confusing that it's hard to try describe routes or directions.

All that I can tell you is that when I started the game, I went East first, I activated three quarters of the diamond, and then fought the boss. I'm pretty sure the 4th quarter comes after the boss. The east is definitely doable without any need to upgrade anything as I was able to do it. All I can recommend is just keep exploring, try going in every direction when you walk into a room, there will be a way, and you'll eventually come to the boss.

The game gets a fair bit easier after you've beaten that first boss cos you'll get the shotgun and you'll have saved enough money to buy upgrades.

So the route to get to the boss isn't straightforward?, I am in an area where there are skulls on sticks, which I assumed meant the boss was close.

Hate it when games make me feel dumb because they think it's cool to be deliberately obscure, I know it's nice finding things out for yourself but it just gives the feeling that they don't respect the players time.

From what I can remember (my memory is terrible), you are there where the boss is, you'll soon do something to make a bridge appear near those skulls, so you can walk over the water and fight the boss. I've unfortunately completely forgotten what I had to do to make that bridge appear. Maybe somebody else can remember and help.

There is probably a door somewhere that you weren't able to access until you found those three quarters, now you've done that you should be able to go through and activate a switch to get that bridge. (I'm not 100% sure on this). Just keep looking! You'll get there soon. If I can do it then I'm sure anybody can.

I just started playing this game a few days ago. I understand why the devs would wanna go for a dialogue-less story, but I feel like they should at least have some text, at least a legend for the map. For example, I don't know what the hell the red diamonds on the map are. Getting to them either seems impossible or there doesn't seem to be anything noteworthy once I get there.

Other than that, I'm enjoying what I've played so far, and all I've done was beat the north area. There's something else I'd like to know, though; what currency do the stores use, exactly? Is it the single gold squares or the bigger gold squares that you get for every 4 smaller gold squares that you collect?

West region is confusing the shit out of me right now

I've got 2 crystals there but I can't for the life of me find the right routes to the 3rd one

Look for ledges and bushes to cut down to open up other paths. I found 6 crystals so far and haven't even reached the boss area. The West has been my favorite are to explore so far.

Bigger squares. So you need 12 gear bits to buy an upgrade that costs 3 'II' coins. This is also shown in the shop interface.

so i just figured out i was going west and getting stuck not east lol
I also play some coop with cousin via shareplay which was really fun
still trying to figure out the timing of drift combos most ive had is 6 smh
edit: just beat the east boss guess i have to figure out this western nonsense now
edit 2: game froze on my while dashing around falling platforms but music kept playing, had to quit out also looked up the module i was missing smh I wouldnt have ever figured that out

So the thing is, there are a lot of us who REALLY enjoy the obscurity. Every single person who's posted questions, fumbled around at first, said the game kinda sucks because what is this bullshit either a- finished the game and realized how fun it was to play something different and not that difficult at all if or b- quit.

It "respects the player's time" very much, just maybe not your particular want. Hell, you can easily beat it under ten hours without a guide.

Yeah, I do get that.

I like the obscurity, but I do feel that there are certain pathways and areas that are too obscured. One of the dungeons in the West region has an obscured pathway that leads to a crystal through a jail cell that you open up. I walked around that dungeon for ages and couldn't figure out how the hell to get over to the crystal. Eventually I had to look it up on youtube and I still don't think I would've ever figured that one out. Stuff like that I think Heart Machine could've made more intuitive as far as giving you better hints towards where to go. I don't expect giant flashing indicators telling me where to go and frankly I don't want that, but there's certainly room for improvement here and there.

I've not found the game to be obscure at all. The story telling is non-traditional narration, but finding your way around the world is super easy. There's big things on the map to tell you where to go!

The
800
dash combo trophy nearly killed me, and now I'm looking at the "finish the game without dying" one and wondering if it's even possible for me. Brutal!

Almost fully completed my first save, although it looks like I'm still missing two keys. I have a feeling that this is going to take awhile!

I'm getting pretty close to fighting the final boss in the south. I'm scared :(. Just give it to me straight, how tough is he?

Once I was in the south I found most of the challenge to be gone, or at the very least lessened greatly from earlier portions of the game. I started going west day one on PC before they patched it to make it easier though so my frame of reference may be messed up.

Once I got the charged slash and the ammo upgrade for the shotgun boss fights got easier. I was able to kill the final boss in less than 5 tries using both of those skills

I BEAT THE MOTHER FUCKER WOOOOOO

Took me about 8 attempts, 8 stressful attempts!

As lame as it sounds, I'm proud of myself for beating the game.

That is the exact let I was stuck on and probably would still be if not for looking it up, that's the only part that really frustrated me

Got all modules and have all upgrades, but missing one key and god knows how many gearbits. Also have the last boss left, amazing, amazing game though will be impossible for me to Platinum it :( My dash record is just ~140 something.

Wow, not even a trophy for completing the game. I mean, that is just cold, really cold.

I came away with only one trophy in the end (blow 5 enemies up with a bomb).

Love the game, chain dashing is addictive when you get used to it. I went East first and done that, after I went West and got to the warp grid and it seems like child's play compared to East!

As a heads up, not sure if they've nerfed it, but the shotgun is the best weapon in the game. Last time I played, it would do 5 HP per shot when up close. So you can go in, shoot, then back out and repeat and rinse.

You get onefor defeating all the bosses.
The south region had multiple bosses you may have missed one.

My kinda game, I think it is fantastic.

Beat final boss today after 12 hours and got through the whole game without ever being able to chain dash.

Want more.

Ok, so I finished the first boss, who was actually very easy, I assume the next ones aren't so!!!

What upgrades are recommended?, I got the sword deflect projectiles one, which seems worthwhile.

I just got the charge swing for the sword, it is good. Kills a lot of enemies in onehit and will take out a bunch next to you.

I found East and West both pretty reasonable, I struggled with North a bit though. Have yet to try South.

In the east when you come upon the bad-ass mystery knight/drifter what do you get for going to those spots he labels on your map? I 'think' I found one to the left across a hidden water bridge, activated a big tablet thing, and nothing happened, and my map didn't update or show anything happened.

You wanna collect the purple light pieces that he marked. There's 8 per region!

This game consumed my entire weekend. I love it.

Beat all 4 zones, collected every tablet and module. Now I'm working on finding the gearbits I missed, and getting the outfits I don't have yet. Also need to beat the arena and get that damn dash challenge...

How many of you have beaten the dash challenge on console? I got up to 147 so far.

I haven't beaten the final boss yet - I'm doing everything else first, then I'll tackle him then move onto NG+.

How do I get to the corpse?

You get South from the like the beginning of the level. Hidden door on the right side someplace.

This game is everything to me. One of my favorites ever. Such style, perfect music and sfx, top notch gameplay! I'm glad you enjoyed it too!

I got 801 on the challenge! 😉
