Hyrule Warriors |OT| Why are the enemies not doing anything?

What do you do with the cuccos that appear randomly in Legend Mode? I can't seem to pick them up and I'm guessing they aren't there to be killed!

It's just another obstacle. Just like in any Zelda game, if you attack them too much, they'll come back and attack you, so make sure to avoid hitting them.

@Rafavert: Pretty sure none of that happens in Legends mode.

They don't appear randomly. They appear in specific maps and when certain criteria are met.
Usually they are one of the follow four:

Escort Cucco Chick to Cucco Mama. Once tou escort the chick safely, they will help you.
Should you fail, Mama will beat the snot out of you.

Cuccos fighting for territory. 2 Cuccos appear in a (random) keep and go at it. If you let them be long enough, they will take the keep and eventually start attacking other keeps as well and beat the snot out of you.

Stalking Cucco. This one follows you around. If you hurt it too much, it will turn on you and beat the snot out of you. Beat the snot out of them and they will go away once you defeat the golden cucco.

Fat Cucco: this one goes around keeps "eating". The more it eats, the stronger it gets. Once its strong enough, it will sart taking keeps and beat the snot out of you. This one tends to be fairly safe to ignore, though, since it takes a fairly long time for it to get fully grown.

By beating the snot out of you I mean that you will be attacked by a horde of cuccos. They have more HP than regular mobs and hit way harder, too.

Yeah I think that's Adventure Mode. I do appreciate the detailed reply though :)

Thanks!

The load times are back to normal again. Not sure what you mean about the quick restart thing though?

The last update added quick restarts (but obviously introduced way longer load times). It was speculated that those were needed to enable quick restart in the first place but I've also read that it was just a "bug" that was causing the increase in loading.

Just wondering if the load times are back to normal with the quick restart still being as snappy.

If it was indeed a bug, you'd think they'd catch it before putting out the update. Not like it was a super obscure thing.

I've been unsuccessful in recreating the rupee glitch. I still need to get the summoning gate so maybe that will make it easier. The upside is all the failed attempts have topped off my supplies for certain silver materials and running +rupees is working as advertised.

Regarding the rupee glitch, why are some people saying you need to have a character at 200 to get it to work? Is it just because they're more powerful and more able to kill a boss without using a weak point smash?

Summoning gate makes it easier yes. But you can do it with young link the easiest from what I've seen. Best to level him up to around 150 with a 420 weapon to make it go smoother.

Don't have to use a 200 character, just makes it easier like you said. But with summoning gate you can get it using a level 70 Lana, which is what I did.

Quick boss pack impressions.

If you like to fill records screens this is a nightmare as each challenge and each character has scores logged.

The boss pack reveals what exactly dark bosses are. You can't use items against them and they won't reveal their WPG. However they do take a lot more damage form regular attacks to compensate.

Ganon is pretty odd and hard to control due to turning circles. Also starts at level 1 and since he does not appear on the character select screen no training dojo for you.

I also beat the Twilight map today. The quickest adventure map to beat due to being able to take the warp to the west then have a short route to the final stage. Now finishing all the maps or actually getting A ranks...that is a challenge.

Also I'm already seeing level 255 Network Links :(

Sounds like the boss pack is fairly insubstantial compared to the other packs. Can you play as all bosses, or just Ganon? I've only seen talk about Ganon, but that may just be because he's the coolest one of them all.

The 3 dollar price tag should've given that away...

This is Ganon-only.

It's not even half the price of the other packs. We always knew this pack would have just two game modes. I didn't even expect playable Ganon.

Speaking of which, I'll be checking this DLC out soon!

Can't fire up the game till later. Anyone check yet if they reverted the loading times <-> quick restart thing?

Loading times back to normal (I forgot how fast they were), quick restart still there. :)

Fighting as Ganon is pretty cool. It's simpler than other characters but fighting multiple (as in, more than ten) bosses at once is quite a different style. Each boss you defeat unlocks its corresponding special attack for Ganon for the rest of the stage, which in turn insta-weakspots one specific other boss. It's a bit of a Megaman-lite in a sense. Ganon also has a couple extra moves to compensate for his more limited combos, and also has special, magic and weak point attacks. His special attack is super fast to compensate for the fact you use it a ton, since you earn special bar like crazy.

Yeah, I didn't really pay attention to the price. I bought the season pass. I guess this makes sense. Kind of a drag that the DLC ends on a whimper though. Well, I shouldn't say that, maybe playing as Ganon will be a huge treat.

Thanks.

My strongest character is Link at around 78 or so with a 420 weapon... I'll give it a few tries.

It'll work. I was able to get it only once with my Link, which he was around level 84, going against King Dodongo. Takes only a minute to get him down and see if you get the trick or not.

first time reading about that rupee glitch, glad to know about it, so the new pack is out? nice, I was playing MM map for the first time yesterday lol

love this game

Started this yesterday. Absolutely love it, and I can see why people say it has so much content. There are so many unlockables, it's ridiculous. And all I've even played is Legend Mode; I've yet to touch any of the other modes. I bought the DLC; I'm really looking forward to spending a lot of time with this game in the foreseeable future.

I have a few questions about weapons though:

1) The weapons that you find/use in battles; are they one-time use? I have a ton of duplicates with the same stats/abilities, and I'm not sure what real purpose they serve. Can I sell the ones that I don't need?

2) I'm not sure I understand that numerical stats/stars on a weapon. Could somebody please explain them?

Each weapon type has three variations (+8 Bit weapons from the DLC/updates), each one stronger than the next one. For example, for Link's Sword and Shield you have:

Knight's Sword
White Sword
Magical Sword/8-Bit Sword

The number of stars, which goes from 1 to 5, raises the weapon's attack power, but each weapon tier also is completely superior to the previous one. For example, a zero star White Sword is stronger than a 5 star knight's sword. New weapon tiers only start appearing as random drops after being unlocked. For example, you got the White Sword from a chest in Legend Mode, and the 8-Bit Sword from getting to a certain point in the story, after that, they become random drops, which can vary in skills and stars.

For the Magical Sword (and all other tier 3 weapons aside from the 8-bit Sword), you need to unlock it in Adventure Mode. The Master Sword is an exception and doesn't really fit into that system. There are no drops or variations, just that one Master Sword you get in the story (although after unlocking every other weapon from the base game and getting 25000 KOs with it, you'll unseal its skill that will drastically raise its power).

And to be more complete we can add that one star add 10% base power.

Rank 1 weapons like Knight's Sword are 80 base power. This means power will range from 80 to 120.
Rank 2 weapons like White Sword are 150 base power. This means power will range from 150 to 225.
Rank 3 weapons like Magical Sword/8-Bit Sword are 280 base power. This means power will range from 280 to 420.

Guys, do I have to unlock level 3 weapons to unseal the Master Sword?
You have to unlock all three ranks of every weapon in Legend Mode and in the first map of Adventure Mode.

Figured out the optimum Agitha combo to make her pretty safe. Hits like a truck, takes out crowds and can be used on officers. Its also completely setup to be cancellable at any point to just plain run.
  • Light atk, Light atk, Hvy atk (summons the glyph for the beetle)
  • DASH CANCEL into the glyph
(this will summon it on top of you and keep you safe)
  • Immediately Light atk, Light atk, Light atk, Hvy atk (summons the tornado and puts you and opponent airborn)
(as you enter this combo the beetle appears and hits folks and then as the tornado comes out you and everyone go airborn even if you screw up here and summon the other beetle combo by inputting light attack once too many its great damage and safe)
  • BUTTERFLY CANCEL (just input Hvy atk)
  • Now hit light attack and as soon as she is about to lose her meter (after the backflip) hit Hvy attack again to divebomb the butterfly and avoid the recovery hell that is the parasol
  • DASH CANCEL out of butterfly dive attack once it hits to immediately setup another glyph and start over.
In other words

zelda style
  • YYX, DASH FORWARD, YYYX, *X* (butterfly cancel once everyone is in air), YYYX, DASH CANCEL
warriors style
  • XXY, DASH FORWARD, XXXY, *Y* (butterfly cancel once everyone is in air), XXXY, DASH CANCEL

Does a shitload of damage, very hard to get hurt performing it making it safe for crowds or single officers. Still works up close...in fact if you just want to dash into the glyph and block until the beetle arrives you can delay the next string to get them airborn because the hit stun from the beetle is just that long and lets you combo...you might drop a few grunts though if they fall out of range from waiting to long to continue the combo.

Enjoy...Agitha is now usable.

I think you mean BBY, etc... B is light and Y is hard on Zelda style.

Great tips! I'm going to try them out for sure. I rely on the BY popup move, probably a bit too much.

I was here wondering... What happens when you have a weapon with Strong Attack+ on a character whose strong attack doesn't do damage? Stuff like Zelda's Rapier/Dominion Rod, Young Link, Fi....

More or less what I've been doing lately. Just got a 5 Star Princess Parasol with Hasty Attacks Strength II and Strength IV I think and she's a BEAST. She's definitely up there in preferred characters now (her "cuteness" is still grating and annoying though)

Question about the Evil Trio. I read that having the Legendary skill can be useful so you can bypass needing their advanced weapons... but I have yet to get anything with the locked skill. Do they have to have their L3s after all or maybe, do they have to be on a certain level?

Also a little confused about Legendary. I get that they make weaker weapons have a base of 300, effectively making them L3 weapons, but what if the weapon is already a L3?

The thing that actually annoys me about the load times isn't so much the time, but the massive delay in the tutorial/info pictures loading.

Young Link, Fi, Cia and Great Fairy can't have Strong Attack+ and I think it's the same for Midna although her C1 does damage.

Link's Hylian Sword/Master Sword and Zelda's Rapier have a counterattack if you do their C1 right after a block, that's why Zelda's Rapier can have Strong Attack+. It consumes an orb and doesn't really worth it.

Zelda's Dominion Rod has Strong Attack+ because its C1 does damage.

On the same subject, Volga's Pike and Link's swords also have a dodge attack (using C1 right after dodging) but only Link can do it while dodging forward, this will initiate his C2.
