I can't believe VJ2 is.... spoiler

Pulling off the same shit as VJ 1, where you are fighting all the bosses from previous stages back to back again in Reel 6. The idea of fighting Fire Neo's brother Tiger Frost is cool but man, same fuck up back to back boss fights again!

you can be old-school without doing that shit, I think. anyway, that sucks. that was the reason I gave up on VJ1.

"Get used to it, Joe."

Now, y'see, Megaman games are the only ones I can stand that crap in. Call it prepubscent conditioning if you want, but it doesn't make newer games any less infuriating.

SAY NO TO BOSS GAUNTLETS (and escort missions too while we're at it)

Oh go play your piss easy games, and leave the rest who like a challenge and only get it in half-dozen games a year (if we're lucky, and if we're extraordinarily fortunate, half of those half-dozen games are A+ material) alone.

Challenging Game != Archaic

It's part of what made the first game so tough... I expected as much really. Bosses from the original Viewtiful Joe in Reel 6 would be a re-use. This is just: alright punk, show me what you've learned or it's game over.

Actually, in VJ2 it's set up a lot easier since you can save and Power Up in between battles, whereas in the first game you couldn't. I wasn't too big on it either, and it's a pet peeve of mine in the Mega Man games, but as long as there's a challenge and the ability to save between them, I don't mind it at all. You won't mind it once you get the patterns down.

I actually liked the series of boss fights. They're a lot more fun when you already know how to beat the bosses--just a matter of execution. It's nice to be able to trounce them in a single try when before they took multiple lives to defeat.

Well...IIRC in VJ you could choose "retry" against the last boss (when playing them in a row) as soon as you had reached him. I didn't think it was that hard actually. There were a lot harder parts in the game.

Is there a large cliff or bridge near your house? I'm hoping you know where I'm going with this.

While on the subject of VJ2, I'm stuck at the lock in Reel 3, level 2 iirc. I've got the first two parts down, but the third is annoying me. I'm probably missing something very obvious. I just suck is all. :p

As for what the topic mentioned, I think it is a good way of revisiting the game's bosses. Of course, this can be overused.

If you tell me what part that is, I can probably help you. At this point, I know the game quite well, but not well enough to go by Reel numbers :)

Well, it's in the high-tech, Tokyo-looking world with the police as badguys. The first level had a jet-mech transformer as the boss. It's the level after that, when you get this lock through an air duct and to a giant safe.

You hit the dial on the lock to make the highlighted section of the dial align with the arrow on the lock. There is a trick you need to do when you try to line up the dial for the 3rd time in a roll.

I am fighting Tiger Frost again and this is fucking ridiculous. I know exactly how to beat him and his pattern but the thing is Tiger Frost has so much hit points that I will have to make a mistake one or twice before I kill him. His color bar probably has every fucking single shade of green before it reach yellow and then finally red. I am so pissed because sometimes if you make on mistake, the penality is so costly. Tiger Frost can easily take away 4-5 hearts. I hate this fucker.

Spoilers below to assist the poor chaps above:

Probably late on this, but in case you haven't got past it, you need to (as Slyvia) hit it once the first time from the side that's lit and only tap Slow to get it to move one notch; then you hit it from the side that's lit again the second time, only now you hold Slow the entire time; the last time you hit it from either side but hold down Record -- I don't believe you need Slow the last time. After that, you open the safe and well....you'll see.

As for Frost Tiger, yeah, he's a real pain, much like Alastor prior. It's more of an endurance test than anything once you establish the pattern, but he's not that bad. In particular, you'll want to use Joe and Zoom+Slow+Hold Punch. That move alone will help speed things up. Oh, and on V-Hard -- his life bar goes well beyond green. That said, V-Hard's cake if you beat it on Hard...at least up to the point where I am so far.
