I guess it depends on what your definition of what success is, Bish. Frankly, I admire you for having thought-provoking topics to post in either forum. I can't say the same, and usually I post a late topic. It's people like you that keep the forum interesting. If you're looking for reply count, success can be hard to come by. So don't bother. Just posting and keeping both the gaming forums and OT forums alive is success enough.

Don't worry, man. You do good work for the benefit of us all.

That sums up why Bish fails in the Gaming Forum.

That place is just devoid of logic and reason and trying to be thoughtful just won't cut it there.

I originally started here at GAF for the gaming forum ... but I hang around because of the OT forum. The other one is tedious.


Lets secede from the other forum, start a revolution!

I think there is a lot less anger, bitterness, and conflict in the OT forum. In the gaming forum, people feel a need to enter topics that they do not really belong in. Seriously, if you don't have an Xbox (or playstation, or gamecube, etc), why do people feel the need to go into the respective threads just to be antagonistic.

The gaming forum is incredibly dumb nowadays, I usually only check the thread titles and dont even click to read them.

Bish you arent meant to understand why you are meant to be in the OT forum, none of us knows why we have the gifts we do, you simply play the role you are given. We have to put our faith and trust in a higher power and believe we are being guided towards our path for a reason. After all, DAVE works in mysterious ways.

Are you guys starting to cotton to my idea of deleting the gaming forum? Do it during E3 and ban posters that try to start gaming topics in the new super duper OT. Fuck em, send em all to IGN or OA or wherever. None of them are worth the air they breathe.

Personally, I have only made about 4 or 5 posts total this year in the gaming forum.

I can just never get into those threads. They have more hate then a political thread, and have half the logic of one.

Besides, there is less chance of funny or teh drama on the gaming side. LONG LIVE THE OT!

I'm in the same boat. I think it has something to do with gaming becoming mainstream we get a larger subsection of goons. I'm from the NGO era where the forum was just an outlet for guys that were too "old" to still be playing video games. If I get in a gaming mood I'll stop in but, heck I don't even know most of those clowns on those sides of the tracks.

I guess I don't need that subtle validation that playing video games for a grown man isn't a bad thing.

Both forums are pretty fucking good, I don't understand the whining. The OT just has a shitload more WILLENIUM.

I was totally against it but now I can't believe how it would have worked otherwise. I started out on the Gaming Forum, visit it more frequently now because of the PSP, but the OT is why I'm still here.

I'm thinking the ages of the posters in the OT skew slightly older and that tends to mean that people here have gone through or are going through the same things (pure speculation on my part). That and the fact that the OT has higher quality threads in general. Thought provoking threads in the gaming forum used to exist, and some pop up now and then, but they seem to be largely ignored. I guess they out of style like the JeriCurl. Too bad really, the JeriCurl was cool.

That doesn't mean a whole lot, since the average age of the entire board is around 24-27. It's just that having skewed opinions (or just outright trolling) on the gaming forum seems to be encouraged by many here, and it reflects badly in some's eyes

You talk about games Bish? Unpossible.

Anyway, OT is more "gang" like and people get jumped on more by others here because opinions here are usually polarized. There's a central group of posters here that talk about shit like crazy so it's easier to weed out people on the outside or acting like idiots.

The Gaming Forum doesn't have that. It's game company/console aligned so there isn't a group of folks more or less jumping on peoples backs for being idiots. The idiots have other folks to back them up so it's easier for them to be there than here.
