I hate GBA/DS Sleep function... I HATE IT

I hate myself, too. I want to kill myself for being so friggin stupid. I bought Minish Cap a few days ago and have been playing it non-stop. But I've never saved it, I've only sent my DS to sleep. So I'm at the part where you're in the clouds (probably near the end of the game), I get distracted with something else and I turn the damn DS off.

Now I have to redo everything. Everything.

Has anyone else ever done anything this stupid?

That's so f-cking stupid.

It takes 2 seconds to save in Zelda. Just pull up the menu! Hell, I think it might even be slightly easier to save than it is to put it to sleep! (Only DS games use the DS' auto-sleep mode when closing the clamshell.)

:lol :lol :lol

I'd play it at work during lunch, and just hit sleep, because if you save, you start off in a different area. But FUCK, I didn't think I'd do something this stupid.

On another note, Minish Cap is an awesome Zelda game. The best 2D one, in my opinion. If it were any other game, I wouldn't be replaying it right now :(

What? Just pause it, then press 'save' in the menu and it saves. Unpause and you can carry on from where you are, then just put it into sleep.

I could see accidentally erasing a game as being a tragic/dumbass thing to do (I've done it myself a bunch of times). But neglecting to save when there's no penalty and it's such a quick task?

You were kind of asking for it.

You receive:
+0 intelligence
+2 sympathy

WTF? The game does NOT quit you out when you save. Play until you cannot, save, and THEN put it to sleep if you don't want to lose your place and will resume within a short span of time.

W.T.F?

I've accidentally hit Power instead of Start more times than I care to admit on the DS. Maybe Nintendo shouldn't have switched their positions!! You have my sympathy.

To rub salt in the wound, though, I'll mention that you were probably about 85% of the way through the game. :lol

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.

hey guys i just stated zelda link to the past and im stuck at the beginning
i got out of my bed and went outside but i cant go anywhere
the guards just block my way and i cant do anything wtf this game sucks
i cant even kill the guards why dont they give link a gun

p.s. bungie rocks

That's worse than closing the DS, doing something else, then opening the DS the next day, realizing it was sleep all this time, and is now either almost dead or completely dead. i wish there was a battery indicator which gave you some idea of how much life you had left. Even the system screen doesn't do this -- when the power LED turns red, so does the battery icon.

Do you have to troll every fucking DS thread? :/

So you want me to start fucking trolling DS threads? Cause you'd see the difference quite clearly.

Stop the tears. It was a fucking joke. :lol

Ok here's an example of trolling DS threads:

Man, I sympathize. This shows how stupid Nintendo design is. Luckily this would never happen with the PSP, as the sleep function and the power off slide button are one and the same. You have to hold the power slide for 5 seconds to actually turn it off so no accidents! YAY! :lol

sometimes the sleep doesn't work... like my Golden Sun 2, I am replaying and sometimes I would like to put my DS to sleep as I change trains, and the damn thing doesn't wake back up!

There are worse things than playing Minish Cap over again. It sometimes happens to me on consoles. I'm so used to the auto-saves, once in awhile I'll forget to save in games that dont support it.

This is going on a bit of a tangent, but my attempts at searching for this data in months-old threads or looking through GameFAQs have been failures thus far. I remember reading about how PSP's sleep mode was much more efficient than what the GBA games did... but how does the DS fit in there? Does having actual game information needing to be stored consume more power than just the main menu? Since getting my DS recently I've often left it asleep on the main menu as a pocket watch of sorts, and I wonder how wasteful I'm being.

Happened to me twice after not saving for a long time (I did a shitload of figurines and turned it off by mistake), but I at least saved my main game progress.
