I hate to be the bear of bad news but I have a funny feeling that GTA6 will be on the PS4 and Xbox One

Yeah, but thats precisely why I loved gaming. I knew we are no where near tapping out the limits of gaming. I mean VR alone is going to change everything but thats like 20 years away. In the meantime, the physics stuff, photorealistic visuals, destruction and other CPU simulations can pull us out of the dark ages and usher in a new era of physics based video games with a completely new level of interactivity not seen before.

Movies, music and theater have all reached their peak. You might get some genre bending film or album once every few years but its not going to change things. Every generation of consoles open a whole new box of tools. Tools no one wants to use right now.
The introduction of 4k resolution, ray tracing in game, and Covid-19 set the gaming industry back. Devs did a hell of a job and tried their best to adapt to all 3 taxing issues, and they are still adapting to the first 2 at this time to give us all a decent framerate with a graphical leap that we all know is coming in the future thanks to UE 5. You'll eventually have to deal with these hard truths and simply spend this time enjoying and appreciating fun games, or instead keep kicking and screaming for this entire decade about generational growing pains that you can't control. It's your choice.

I know exactly what you're talking about and what you, the OP, and that other OP in the thread about diminishing returns are all referencing. The gaming industry was making strides in terms of A.I. and creativity along with graphics too. Everything seemed to be on an upward curve in a line graph, and that would still be the case if we were still using 1080p displays and baked lighting, because then people would instead be focusing on how to improve gameplay systems and A.I. instead of now worrying about how in the world they're going to get their game to not only run but look good with full ray tracing at a stable 30fps in an open world environment. Give it time for the creators and devs to adjust and for us to hit a stable plateau again, and we'll all end up back on track.

"the bear of bad news" is an amazing tag 🤔

Thing is: Gta6 will probably release in a few years, when the ground is set with more consoles.

I get where you're coming from. Maybe you need to get into the game industry somehow. The best way to make a change is to try and do it yourself.

I think the main issue is that AAA development is a massive risk, so not many devs are brave enough to try and experiment too much. Saying that, we're still early days with these new consoles, so there's plenty of time for something to knock your socks off.

PSVR2 could inspire a classic or two and both MS and Sony have the talent to make something special. At the moment they are both doing what's sensible business wise, then maybe they can afford to take a chance. Tbh, there is no excuse for MS - they have the money to take as many risks as they want.

Op has a point, personally think it depends on player base of the machines as well as plenty of stock for both series and ps5 for them if not and its finished its definitely going to be last gen with an extra £10 upgrade cost to next gen, knowning rockstar probably cost another 40 quid for upgrade
I think the decision has already been made because it's been in development a while.

Rockstar probably confirmed on a PS4 and Xbox One version the moment they realised adoption would be slower this gen because of the chip shortages like every other gaming company.

No way.

The funny feeling is from the thing you're smoking.

I just wont trash GigaBrowser for acting like a normal human being at the very real prospect of a 2025 last gen GTA game.
Jesus, please think for a bit, 2025? Xbox One will have no userbase at that point and PS4 will be full of children who just recently got it. Heck, even a Switch version would make more sense, lol.

Given GTA 6 is still in active development and I don't expect a release earlier than 2026, so that guarantees a 9th and 10th release inevitably, let's say they do Xbox One and PS4.

If they release a GTA with the visuals of RDR2 at 1080p30 and Medium settings, so what? It will still look amazing and be functionally feature complete.

XSX and PS5 will get 1440p60, 4K30 and 1080p60 with RT at High quality preset overall, 10th gen consoles get it at 4K60 with better visuals and then lastly comes PC with the best visuals possible.

I don't really expect GTA 6 on 8th gen consoles, but I can see it happening.

It is hilarious how you don't understand any sayings. The "bear of bad news" says GigaBowser GigaBowser more than any of the cringe stuff you've said yet.
Do you and GigaBowser have beef or something?

By the way you should've said "says more about GigaBowser" or "says 'GigaBowser' more" (note the quotation marks) than the word salad you came up with. See how easy it is to make mistakes?

Well, honestly business-wise it would make perfect sense to release it on current consoles, such a great customer base to be ignored

I also think that GTA is shit, but since others exist who like it, I do think calling it releasing bad news is a bit overreaching.

Your total support for you position is "it's plain as day" and "the way the industry is going?"

I think the chances of GTA 6 having an old gen version is like negative 0% tbh.

Also, I think for the fact the game will be current gen only, GTA 6 will release on PC day one :messenger_grinning:

I can't see them releasing it on PS4/XB1 at this point. Maybe if it came out in 2019/2020 but current gen consoles are almost 2 years old now lol. don't get me wrong, if Rockstar could they definitely would do it but even by their shitty standards I don't think they are that low.

GTA 6 will release on PC day one :messenger_grinning:
absolutely 0 chance.

if GTA VI comes out in 2024 then the PC version will come out in 2025 if we're lucky but most likely 2026

Rockstar is not the same company they used to be when they pushed the industry and gaming has changed for the worst

:lollipop_expressionless:

I wouldn't be shocked if GTA 6 in on cell phones.

They have low standards and dont really care about pushing this medium forward.
Yo man! I hear you do a lot of chatting on here.

Are you a developer or do you work in the industry?

We are living in the golden age man, enjoy yourself. Depressing listening to you all the time.

If you're not a developer, or in the industry, I encourage you to join it and make a positive contribution.

If you consider this the golden age, I dont know what to tell you. Feel free to put me on ignore.

Gaming is pound for pound cheaper than it ever has been, in terms of value, graphics, performance.

Sure there are scummy practices that we hate. I think that's why most of us are on GAF.

I don't have anyone on ignore, that's a bitches move.

Who is using RT lighting in 2022 though? Elden Rings, HFW, GT7 and TLOU are the biggest games this year and not a single game is using RT lighting or RT anything. GT uses it in replays. Even next year, the biggest games are Forspoken, Starfield, FF7-2, FF16 and Spiderman and only Spiderman is using RT reflections.

4k isnt a big deal. PC games have been supporting that resolution since 2013. The year last gen started. Mid gen consoles have supported 4k resolutions since 2016. I played RDR2 in 4k on my x1x.

The problem isnt ray tracing or fancy next gen physics or destruction, it's the fact that no one is even fucking trying to make those games. Nothing looks even remotely as good as good as Matrix or the first UE5 demo. We just had a Microsoft show, their THIRD for this gen and the only game that looked even remotely next gen was Starfield. ONE lousy game. Today's Ubisoft show had no footage whatsoever. Sony has been MIA for a year. EA has refused to show Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Star Wars for three years running.

If anything RT is supposed to make things easier. You dont have to sit there baking in reflections, light sources, it's all supposed to work. Thats how only 80 people made the Matrix demo from scratch in just 8 months. Thats how 3 UE5 devs were able to create 40+ environments in just 90 days at an insane rate of 3 days per environment.

I really hope GTA6 is next gen, and fully takes advantage of the CPU and SSD upgrades.

If you don't think GTA 6 is going to be strictly next-gen only then I have a bridge to sell you

Rockstar has become less of an industry pushing gaming company and more of a micro transactions house in the last years.

They have now become the bridge salesmen you brought up and are not as much of a gaming company.

This is why it's a mistake to look at past Rockstar as a point of comparison.

Yeah...you are right actually. It's not like EA, Ubisoft or any other big tech game company like Activision Blizzard have microtransactions anything. And it's not like Rockstar's last game in the year 2018 was Red Dead Redemption 2 that raised the bar on so many levels or anything. Yeah.. I think you got a point.

on a serious note - how dense are you? Pretty dense it seems to me, have you tried banging your head against a concrete wall a few times and crack that skull open? I highly suggest you give it a shot.

2018 was 4 years ago and Rockstar is not the same company since then.

More key players have left.

I don't know. I think there is a chance that GTA6 could be on last generation consoles as well because, "greed". I mean they are still milking a PS3 game in 2022, so why not?

So strange. I don't know why people do this. I guess because A) it's pretty easy to get triggered--happens to the best of us--and 2) it's a low-effort proposition to online stalk someone?

I like how there's the option to "ignore". You could turn that on for him and never even have to see how he's following you around like a little gremlin lol

The funny thing is I never follow him anywhere lol. I just saw a really stupid thread, not my fault it was posted by him. You do realize he trolls a lot yeh?

Check my post history, it will show you how often I follow him.
