I hate to be the bear of bad news but I have a funny feeling that GTA6 will be on the PS4 and Xbox One

Cross gen means GTA VI would have to come out soon, right?
I can't imagine Rockstar waiting a few more years to release a PS4 title.

This isn't some small scale dev with a near-indy game. It's Rockstar. They'll release it everywhere they have the option to and monetize the living hell out of it. Plus, the Xbox One released in 2019. Devs had the dev kits years prior. It's not like they wouldn't have the option to build it on new gen. Especially since new gen was supposed to be more friendly making games and to ports (they could even build on PC). That kit leak is too much of a smoking gun, and assuming otherwise seems too optimistic.

A leak with no context isn't proving much.
GTAV was released in 2013 almost 10 years ago.
It's clear that GTAVI development at some point had to pass through PS4.
I doubt that Rockstar would target the next GTA game to run on 2013 hardware in 2024...but it that's the case it sucks.

I'd agree IF that kit leak was from years prior, but 2019 when they've already had the new hardware for some time? No reason to keep building it on the old hardware at that point.

I truly hope it doesn't (I'm still pissed about RE4 coming to PS4, and Cyberpunk should have never touched old hardware), but at this point the chances of that are looking grim.

As long as it doesn't run like Cyberpunk 2077 did, I don't see how that's a bad thing.

If you apply the correct logic of "the best camera is the camera you have on you" thing to videogames then the best console is the one people actually own.

If everyone owns a PS4 and the game sells there, then as a developer I only care about PS5 going forward. It's not my job to sell consoles, it's Sony and Microsoft's. Then I should care whether it's doable or not (which is what CD Project RED didn't care about) and if it is, roll with it. And if it isn't, make it exclusive but accept that you'll lose some sales by not being on old but still very alive platforms.

I'm happy Resident Evil 4 remake is launching on PS4 for instance. If GTA6 launches on last gen I'm not sure they'll support Xbox One though.

I think it's coming to PS4 and probably XBOX One as well to supposedly maximize profits and take advantage of the install base. I mean if RE4 Remake just announced it is cross platform even though RE8 sales dominated on PS5, why not arguably the biggest game of all time as disappointing as it may sound. Again, I'm sticking to it. Cross platform games probably won't end until we see previews of the next generation.

Until it's official, there is nothing to say. Stop basing everything off an ancient game build.

Rockstar lost their top guys, they don't care about anything but GTA online profits and they'll just want to keep that tasty, tasty gravy train going on as many platforms as possible for as long as they can.

Best to wait until the official announcement from Rockstar first, just because they were using PS4 devkits to test it out, doesn't mean it's a 100% cross-gen. Whether or not the game's cross-gen is the last thing I'd be worried about right now.

I hope not. With the leaks today, I'm thinking this isn't launching until Spring 2024. By then should be this gen only ... I hope!

im not suprise if that happen. i can see they launch another PS5/XSX exclusive 'next gen' edition later down the line lol.

but depend on when it gonna launch. if years futher in future, maybe not.
