on much of the cross-gen nonsense we've seen so far this generation, I don't see GTA6 coming to PS4/XB1. By the time it releases the install base on X1X/PS5 will be strong enough to turn a profit. Then keep in mind the plan for this game will be to release and expand the story-mode content over a longer period of time - which will give this game a very long shelf life. GTA didn't do 150 million in a year, it did it over 9. Expect long legs for GTA6, and that's how they'll make their money.

Sure. Not if you are a casual who just wants to play the same last gen trash year after year. But people who have been playng games since the Atari era and have come to expect major leaps going from gen to gen, it is depressing to see us stuck in the same PS360 era level design and PS4 era visuals in 2025 when this game finally comes out.
Some people simply have higher standards. I have nothing against people who are ok with the status quo and nut all over GOW, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, GT7 and HFW just like I have nothing against people who play Madden, CoD, Fifa and NBA2k2050 every year. They have low standards and dont really care about pushing this medium forward. I just wont trash GigaBrowser for acting like a normal human being at the very real prospect of a 2025 last gen GTA game.

I think you're worried over nothing. There are too many Debbie downers on these forums at the moment, and I don't know why. HFW was cross-gen and arguably one of the best looking games ever. Either way, it'll look awesome on PS5/Series consoles.

They will simply kill off last gen versions like Gotham Knights did. Sony's made several games that are PS5 only but they feel rooted in last gen design/visuals like Deathloop, TLOU, Returnal and Ghostwire. By the time this game releases in 2025, yeah, the install base will be strong, but if Jason is right, and he typically is, this game that started development in 2014 was not targeting next gen SSDs and CPUs.While I agree with
I hope Im wrong, and they rebooted the game after shipping RDR2 to target next gen consoles, but Ive been right a lot lately and literally every worst case scenario has come true so im not too hopeful about Rockstar making the right decisions here.

It is not coming to PS4 and X1, it doesn't make sense, it's gonna be massive and too demanding to run on last gen, and I can't see the devs cutting contents, stuff and downgrading the overall game experience, for a Game which won't be released before 2024, supposed to be released again on PS6, PS7 and the next itaration of XBox

Almost definitely. The only problem is that I despite the modern music stars, cant stand the vapid Disney/Netflix/Amazon streaming trash and Marvel trash that plagues the boxoffice. The only thing left is porn, but the low budget youtube content creator style porn is worse than reality tv so you guys are stuck with me until they can figure out how to get VR porn to work on the PS5.

Heard of FF7-Rebirth? They are saying that they are targeting PS5 only specs, but they are still using PS4 character models. And lets face it, despite a 2023 release date, that game is coming out in 2024 at best. It will be the same exact game as FF7, only thing in a true open world like FF15. If it was a true next gen game, they wouldve used better character models.

Mate, it's like this when you get older. It's difficult to be positive about new things when you believe you've seen it all before. Personally, I feel fortunate that I can still enjoy games the same now, as I did back in the day. Same with all media really; though I do struggle to find a good new movie nowadays.

It's not only a matter of character models; GTA6 will most probably need all the power of the new CPUs, and I can't see this Game coming to PS4 and X1; by the way, we will discover soon, I hope.

Yeah, but thats precisely why I loved gaming. I knew we are no where near tapping out the limits of gaming. I mean VR alone is going to change everything but thats like 20 years away. In the meantime, the physics stuff, photorealistic visuals, destruction and other CPU simulations can pull us out of the dark ages and usher in a new era of physics based video games with a completely new level of interactivity not seen before.
Movies, music and theater have all reached their peak. You might get some genre bending film or album once every few years but its not going to change things. Every generation of consoles open a whole new box of tools. Tools no one wants to use right now.

But how much more do you think Rockstar could accomplish with the Rage engine on last-gen consoles? RDR2 epitomized AAA open-world games.
It will be announced as next-gen only, but it's not going to release… "now" lol.
There will probably be an announcement, maybe a delay… No way it comes before 2024, which is more than deep enough into mid-gen to cut off PS4/XBO.

Issue is that the Xbox One and PS4 are discontinued. I think the only one still not fully finished yet is the PS4 Pro specifically.
Why make a game for a discontinued console, and by the time it comes out the new consoles will probably be over 60 million units between them.

Op has a point, personally think it depends on player base of the machines as well as plenty of stock for both series and ps5 for them if not and its finished its definitely going to be last gen with an extra £10 upgrade cost to next gen, knowning rockstar probably cost another 40 quid for upgrade

Nah. Starting development on 2014 is not an indicator. Dev will spec out a hi end pcs for early development before nextgen hardware is available. GTA is a system seller. Ever game you mentiond is either a launch window game or the game design was based in last gen like tlou.
