I hope the Nintendo Switch 2 fails really hard!!!

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
*If you are one of those hardcore Nintendo Cucks that worships everything that they do, this thread is not for you.

I am not a Nintendo Hater, In fact I own a switch with over 30 of the best physical games and dozens of digital games. What has been revealed from Nintendo is nothing short of corporate greed. Just comparing the Japanese price of the console (around $310) to my country the US ($449) is just one example of this. Nintendo ever since the SNES days have a long history of being arrogant pricks. From the SNES days all the way through the N64 they were notorious assholes to work with. Nintendo first got humbled with the n64 when the Sony PSX handed them their ass combined with the fact Nintendo would not budge off of cartridges. They were a little better with the Gamecube but again made the odd choice of those mini disk. Both the cartridge format from the n64 and the mini disk from the Gamecube were mostly made because they were afraid of piracy. The psx was cracked already and Nintendo were and still are control freak's with their IP's. Then they got humbled again with the WIIU. People were screaming when it revealed it was a stupid fucking name and confused casual consumers. Nintendo is a stuibborn company and rarely listens to criticism until it hits their bottom line. They hit the Jackpot with the Switch. It was a massive success and bigger than anyone thought it would be. Here we are again with another Cycle and arrogant asshole Nintendo is back.

The only thing that is going to humble Nintendo again is another big failure. Again Nintendo has a history of being an arrogant greedy company to work with. Until their bottom dollar starts getting hammered they aren't going to budge from this arrogant behavior. I have read credible stories that the Switch 2 has been done for almost a year but they didn't want to stop the original Nintendo Switch gravy train. I get going up a little bit but going up 30%-50% on software when it doesn't seem justfied is insane. People assume that the Switch 2 will be massive success but I really hope not. The Wii was a monster of a console than the sequel WiiU was a massive dud due to marketing and just not having mass appeal. The NIntendo Cucks will pay the $80-$90 for their software but I wonder if the mass consumer is willing to do the same. AS a Switch fan they priced me out of the market. I also as a physical switch guy hate the fact of this whole buying the copy and it only being a downlaod key. The fucking point of buying a physical copy is I can play it without being online or I can lend my cartridge to a friend, or sell it when I'm done etc. Nintendo is just trying to make an all digital library. Lets hope Nintendo fails hard and show the rest of the gaming industry this shit wont' be tolerated. I understand the price of goods has to go up eventually but the Quality of most software from all companies is rarely worth the new $70 msrp let along $80-$90 plus.

You seem to be missing some vital information regarding the Japanese Switch 2. The cheaper $330 model is region locked to Japanese games Only. They are also releasing a $467 model Switch 2 that is multi-language and has no region lock.

Clearly Nintendo is trying to curb scalping and/or costs due to tariffs. The console is not overpriced considering inflation and the tech it has under the hood and in its controllers.

But yeah the software price for MK World is insane.

This thread got me thinking.

If Nintendo's doing this with their Switch 2 lineup, will everyone else do the same?

I can get behind the costs of the console, I'm just not spending $80 a pop on Nintendo first party digital games.

This thread got me thinking.

Now that the seal is broken, I can't imagine them not following the lead. I imagine they will wait for new hardware releases.

I didn't read all of that, but the download key thing is for the same cheap third parties who would sell you "physical" Switch 1 games that were basically just a download code in a box. All of the first party games shown so far contain the full game on the game card.

Also, the upside to the download keys are that they actually *are* resellable and *can* be lent to friends, since the authentication is tied to the physical "key" and not a one-time code.

So, basically, it's worse than actual physical media but better than a download code.

It's also cheaper, more powerful and has cheaper games than Switch 2.🤷🏾‍♂️
It's also not the new hotness any more. Only one of the big three (does Microsoft count any more?) has brand new shiny hardware heading into the holidays, and the allure of the hybrid console is still purely in Nintendo's court.

"Nintendo Cucks"

Nintendo has absolutely no DEI bullshit in their games, so get the C word out of your mouth. I'll happily to pay a Nintendo tax to avoid being force fed girl dicks.

All this bullshit with tariffs and inflation, as a not US person I'm I correct in saying that these tariffs are not on digital software.
If so why is the cost increasing. I'll tell you why because Nintendo are greedy full stop.
It blows my mind that people would spend $80-$90 USD on Mario Kart, when the budget for that game would be no where near that of a PC,PS5 or Xbox title.

... Games that I can play on PC sooner or later. It's redundant.

We're halfway through the console's lifespan and we only got 3-ish actual exclusives.
Bolded especially is a complete non-issue for the console-demographic.

It's also not the new hotness any more. Only one of the big three (does Microsoft count any more?) has brand new shiny hardware heading into the holidays, and the allure of the hybrid console is still purely in Nintendo's court.
Completely fair, but the big question is if the mass market will adopt Switch 2 the same way it did with Switch.

Purely annecdotal, but the first 2 people I told about the Switch 2 announcement, my gf and a co-worker, immediately tuned out at the €470 price-point.

This thread got me thinking.

If Nintendo's doing this with their Switch 2 lineup, will everyone else do the same?
Well, what’s the reason behind it?
Is it just greed, or is it actually existential? …Is this what it takes to make a game? Is this what it needs to cost?
I think the price wouldn’t be an issue if the value were there… and based on the reactions, I think Nintendo is failing to demonstrate that. But to be fair, I don’t think other companies are doing much better

They are gonna sell out of their initial shipments because their die hard fans have such low expectations. And since N doesn't sell their hardware for a loss they're not in a rush to capture a huge percentage of the market right away. They can take their time and slowly have their player shiftover while they get their heavy hitters ready.

I won't buy any game for $80. I'll let some other sucker do that then buy it second hand.
This is the way, I just picked up a near mint Pokemon Sword physical copy for 23 pounds.
People i talked to surprisingly weren't immediately turned off by the console price, but as soon as i mentioned software prices they lost all interest they might have had in it.
This Pokemon sword copy was a gift for my wife's nephew. She was shocked at the price of the original game and could not believe that games cost so much, especially when she recently completed Star Wars Fallen Order for 'free' (gamepass streaming on Samsung TV). I had to get the card with my own money as she was not willing to spend so much (her words not mine) on one game.

Im one of those people who buy essentially everything PS Nintendo and Xbox put out. With that being said im not buying Switch 2 as bad as i want that donkey kong game lol they’ve lost the plot with those game prices. You dont want to offer cutting edge tech ? Fine. Dont charge me $80-90 for a game that looks like it came out 10+ years ago. I am for sure voting no with my wallet for now 😉

I don't see switch 2 as being anywhere near as successful as switch 1. It just seems like an incremental upgrade, like a switch pro. System and games too expensive. Launch lineup compared to switch 1 sucks.

The new gimmick is voice chat??? And the best they can come up with for mouse use is wheelchair basketball??? This shit is bad.

The switches that I see in the real world are all owned by kids and are bought by their parents. And they all just play Minecraft or fortnite. I can't seel parents shelling out £400 for the same thing in essence. and the price will never go down as we are seeing with other consoles.

Plus when switch 1 released there was no competition at all. Now switch 2 has to contend with the steam deck and loads of PC handheld, and even switch 1.

I cannot believe that their astro-like game is not a free bundled in game. That is super shitty, but again I had to pay 60$ extra to buy my Switch as the store had bundled 1-2 Switch with it. I am sure they will some predatory bundles including that shitty game from retailers.

The increase from 60 to 70 dollars made sense for AAA games because the cost of development is sky high. Nintendo is making A and AA games and charging 80 for them...

People had pitch forks for every company spending 200+ million dollars on game development for charging 70... keep that energy x2 for Nintendo here.

I definitely feel like we're in bizzaro world.

Prices can always be adjusted, so it's not like it's going to be a massive hurdle, but imo it'll be interesting to see how things will play out.

If we're talking about the casual fans who buy the yearly NBA/FIFA/Madden, sure.

If we're talking brand loyalists, sure.

Sony's golden days are over, and anyone who has any love for games and isn't blindly loyal consumers shouldn't limit themselves to their console.
Yeah, this is one of the most out-of-touch posts I've seen in a while.

Reads like a mental breakdown.

This cannot be said enough, games that cost pennies to make like Mario Party, Tennis, 1-2 Switch, Splatoon were already a hard sell at 60$, I am not paying 70$ for them. I will stick with my old library and newer Monolith releases. I also need to get the FastRMX sequel. I still play the OG in splitscreen with my son and will buy the sequel even if it costs 70$.
