I hope the Nintendo Switch 2 fails really hard!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think there's a plot twist this time, they've showed all the signs that the s2 is a power hungry console without saying much about it. On top of all that, it has secret sauce that will definitely push the system above it's weight. One way or the other, it's a second ps2 in 2025.

While I don't expect Nintendo to fail with the Switch 2, the new console has been available for pre-order at numerous stores in Germany since yesterday. And they're still available this morning. So, demand doesn't seem to be so high that the Switch 2 is sold out right away.

Personally, I was really looking forward to it, but the Direct made me decide against buying it. The lack of notable games and outrageous pricing show me that Nintendo has lost its mind.

A Switch Lite or an old Switch might make sense if all the kid wants to do is play Minecraft and Fortnite

But if they’re asking for a Switch 2 specifically, why buy a Switch Lite or an old Switch?

If a kid is asking for a Switch 2, then a parent buying a Switch 1 to "save money" is just throwing cash at something that won’t satisfy what their kid actually wanted in the first place
Then its like it used to be before: You want an expensive hardware? Work for it, get a job (e.g. deliver newspapers) or combine christmas and birthday together. How do kids get the PS5 nowadays?

*If you are one of those hardcore Nintendo Cucks that worships everything that they do, this thread is not for you.

I am not a Nintendo Hater, In fact I own a switch with over 30 of the best physical games and dozens of digital games. What has been revealed from Nintendo is nothing short of corporate greed. Just comparing the Japanese price of the console (around $310) to my country the US ($449) is just one example of this. Nintendo ever since the SNES days have a long history of being arrogant pricks. From the SNES days all the way through the N64 they were notorious assholes to work with. Nintendo first got humbled with the n64 when the Sony PSX handed them their ass combined with the fact Nintendo would not budge off of cartridges. They were a little better with the Gamecube but again made the odd choice of those mini disk. Both the cartridge format from the n64 and the mini disk from the Gamecube were mostly made because they were afraid of piracy. The psx was cracked already and Nintendo were and still are control freak's with their IP's. Then they got humbled again with the WIIU. People were screaming when it revealed it was a stupid fucking name and confused casual consumers. Nintendo is a stuibborn company and rarely listens to criticism until it hits their bottom line. They hit the Jackpot with the Switch. It was a massive success and bigger than anyone thought it would be. Here we are again with another Cycle and arrogant asshole Nintendo is back.

The only thing that is going to humble Nintendo again is another big failure. Again Nintendo has a history of being an arrogant greedy company to work with. Until their bottom dollar starts getting hammered they aren't going to budge from this arrogant behavior. I have read credible stories that the Switch 2 has been done for almost a year but they didn't want to stop the original Nintendo Switch gravy train. I get going up a little bit but going up 30%-50% on software when it doesn't seem justfied is insane. People assume that the Switch 2 will be massive success but I really hope not. The Wii was a monster of a console than the sequel WiiU was a massive dud due to marketing and just not having mass appeal. The NIntendo Cucks will pay the $80-$90 for their software but I wonder if the mass consumer is willing to do the same. AS a Switch fan they priced me out of the market. I also as a physical switch guy hate the fact of this whole buying the copy and it only being a downlaod key. The fucking point of buying a physical copy is I can play it without being online or I can lend my cartridge to a friend, or sell it when I'm done etc. Nintendo is just trying to make an all digital library. Lets hope Nintendo fails hard and show the rest of the gaming industry this shit wont' be tolerated. I understand the price of goods has to go up eventually but the Quality of most software from all companies is rarely worth the new $70 msrp let along $80-$90 plus.

Any I hope your OG Switch is the cause of your house (trailer?) burning down when you are charging it up next time. Lol!

Uh Huh Yes GIF

Imagine kids this holiday trying to get their parents to buy the Switch 2.

Johnny: "Mom I want a Switch 2, Mario kart, and another game"

Mom: "Ok, Johnny! How much is it?"

Johnny: "The Mario Kart bundle is only $500, My other game is $80, my memory card is $60, and my pro controller is $80."

Mom: " Johnny have you lost your fucking mind? If your good Santa will bring you something"

Johnny : "OK mom, I will be a good boy"

Mom: (shopping with Dad for Johnny's Xmas present and staring a switch 1 and 2) "Hubby look, the switch 1 is much cheaper and looks pretty much the same. Also their Mario Kart Deluxe is $30 cheaper"

Johnny: butthurt on Xmas day
Are microSD express cards really cheap in the US? Here in the UK a 512 GB card will set you back by 100 GBP+. It would have been great if they used the small form factor SSDs used in the steam deck. I got my 1 TB Steam Deck SSD for just 60 GBP.

I would be in the same boat as you, but my Switch is on its last legs. It refuses to start up some times and the battery insanely jumps from 0 to 100 to 75 to 38 and all kinds of random numbers with low battery warnings popping up consistenly. I need to buy this for retaining access to my XC games.

In fact, that's a completely legitimate reason for buying the Switch 2.
My Switch OLED still runs fantastically well, and I was hoping the Switch 2 would wow me with exciting new games, sensational features, and a reasonably fair price. None of that happened.

The pricing is comparable stateside, though I've rarely seen a microSD Express available over 256gb

Personally not gonna buy switch 2 anytime soon, maybe in 2026 to play miyazaki's bloodborne2 exclusive, but thats earliest, till then plenty stuff can change so im in no rush.
Now about other ppl- its simple- they can do w/e they want with their hard earned money- be it hookers and boose, or switch 2- as long as its their concious choice- im perfectly fine with it.
More competiton is needed in gaming industry so strong nintendo presence is good thing.

About expensive games/console- i posted about it back in ps5pr0 threads once we knew the price, trully expecting 999$ ps6 and 99$ games by holidays 2028 anyways.

The market will decide and we already have previous trends to watch out for.
The Wii and Switch 1 were sure fire hits with the casuals primarily due to the price.
Gamecube and Wiiu were more expensive and sold like shit.

Switch 2 has the benefit of being a sequel but the console is priced equally to a ps5 while the games prices went on a delulu rampage.

1. games price inflation over the decades has lagged way behind other media
2. on a cost per hour of entertainment delivered, video games rank about the highest of all media formats
3. you're really feigning surprise at a corporation trying to make as much money as possible? Didn't you notice <gestures at everything everywhere>
3. boy am I looking forward to plowing that Switch 2 Nintendussy, given I've played nearly 1000 hours of Switch Mario Kart the price is a rounding error \o/

People are mad Nintendo got a spiritual successor to Bloodborn, I see.

I understand the price hikes are tough, but for most Nintendo games, there are no microtransactions, it's all baked inside the game. Splatoon 2/3 kept getting free updates and season and you didn't spend a dime on them. I think that's what Nintendo will do here.

Of course MKW will have events, seasons, etc. And they are prob all free. Think of it as paying 60+20 expansion pack for the game.

Escape from Yarnham is not a spiritual successor to Bloodborne. It's a weird, experimental vanity project Miyazaki wanted to do, so he justified it's existence by securing a huge exclusivity deal with Nintendo.

The next real From game will be multiplatform.

They would've permanently lowered the Switch games from 2017 if that were the case.

I want Nintendo to succeed just to rub it in current Sony's face. PS5 is such a shit console.
Except the PS5 isn’t a shit console. Fuck off with that backwards narrative.

The hate boner for the PS5 because it killed Xbox somehow justifies praise for 1.5 Nintendo console who’s biggest innovations are a camera, group chat, a $450 price tag and $80 digital games?

These are things I guarantee you would have roasted Sony for and yet here you hypocritically are.

That's kind of a not so nice thing to say because remember Nintendo is a gaming only company. They don't have other divisions that can subsidise the gaming one.

Every generation is a huge risk for Nintendo as we saw with the Wii U and initial 3DS launch. Things can go wrong quickly and Nintendo can go out of business.

They are playing it safe with the Switch 2 by giving people more of the same because the Switch 1 was a success and we don't know if the current pricing structure will be successful. Their best bet is to make as much money as possible initially or do damage control if the market doesn't react well.

My car insurance was raised by 40% due to "increased global repair cost". Heating cost for 2024 had an increase of 388% (8,5ct per kWh vs. 33ct). Despite heating way less I had to pay way more. Feels just wrong but that's how it is. Shit's gonna be more expensive.

That price increase on a console, something as non-obligatory as such, doesn't seem too bad in contrast. Of course it's still sucks but it could be worse. And you don't have to buy it right away.

So many first party Nintendo games lately could be bought for less than 50EUR just right after release. I also never spent more than 60EUR on brand new physical PS5 game because there are cool shops with feasible pricing, despite a 80EUR MSRP. Asking a price and getting it are often two different things. Even the PS5 Pro was discounted with 150EUR off just three months after its release in my country.

As someone that works deeply within the japanese game industry...i wish i could express my opinion on the switch 2. I can only tell you its very negative. And its even more begative because i KNOW this machine will sell well..at least in Japan.

The price of the console is about the only part I’m ok with. They can fuck off with all the rest. I’m holding off at least a year, if I ever get it.

I might buy the console bundle if it shows improved performance in games like Xenoblade and others without the upgrade $. Yes, I can emulate most games pretty well on PC but that ain’t portable. And Switch emulation on say ROG Ally isn’t better vs Switch 1.

And yeah, MK World for $50 digital as part of the bundle is tolerable since this is a game that my kids will want to play and I will play with them.

There is 0 chance I am paying $70 or $80 for their games though. I will wait for used / Black Friday sales down the road and grab them for $50-$55.

People laughed at me yesterday when I said this new Switch won't have a scalping problem. But all I'm seeing so far is preorders opening and stock being easy to come by.

Even the price of the console is super overpriced for what it is and what you're getting.

This to my memory, was the 1st console world reveal with frame drops in the trailers! Keep in mind that these publishers want to sell you their old games running @ 15 FPS at full price!

Switch 1 is a lot cheaper since you could even get a Lite for under $200. Most folks won’t have multiple PS5s at the house but a lot will have multiple Switches.

Not at full price, at increased price! They bumped both of Zelda “Enhanced edition” titles by $10. Didn’t even put the enhancement on the cart, lol.

So, because of tariffs, and Switch 2 being $450 in the US, and physical games being $70-$80 possibly because physical games coming from Mexico and the tariffs there too, will digital games be $10 cheaper then?

I have no problem paying that much if we're getting games like the ones from 2013 and before since we're always asking about the lack of great games cause that's infinitely better than paying $500+ on games every year without getting real solid content cause most of them are forgettable.
