SORRY TO TALK ABOUT ACTUAL GAMES, BUT...

I put off getting Ghost Recon 1 on the account of it, well, not being so good, but the reviews seem to indicate that GR2 is some pretty hot shit. I am a total tango-capping Rainbow Six fiend right now, and I'm wondering if GR2 is More of the Same Outside.

IGN gave it a good score, but they give EVERYTHING mediocre an 8, so color me curious. Someone also mentioned 16-player simultaneous co-op missions, which makes me sorta moist.

I have to say I'm pretty disillusioned about Ghost Recon 2, especially after seeing what they've done to Rainbow Six on the XBOX.. Tom Clancy team games on XBOX are becoming mediocre and dumbed down for 6 year olds versions of their PC counterparts..

Rainbow Six without tactical planning / multiple teams and Ghost Recon without multiple teams / tactical orders == Boo Boo..

If you like Rainbow Six, you should try this. Perhaps it's dumbed down from a PC game, but it's a hell of a lot better than GR1 and it's expansion. Light years so. Co-op is good, vs. is good. It's slow and tactical (well..usually) with fun maps, weapons and fantastic graphics. I'm not sure why some recent outlets have given it a kicking as it's about 20x as good as other recent shooters like CoD.

I think the gameplay is fine in GR2, even lots of fun at times, but geez is it ever dull. I mean in atmosphere and such. Shoot an enemy and he might not even react at all. Shoot him in the head and he'll kinda slump over, slowly. That kinda thing, and it's totally killing my experience with the game.

Not to say I mean it has to be a splatter- or flashfest like Devil May Cry or something, but GR2 is absurdly "serious".

i love it. it does have some framerate probs though. one thing they did do a great job of over rainbow 6 on xbox is the control. they really fixed the asstastic control from rainbow 6 and it is now smooth as butter in ghost recon 2.

really great game imo.

Great game imho. Very atmospheric, *great* audio, and really nice maps. Online co-op is a total killer, but with a maximum of 4 players online, not 16.

I really liked the Lone Wolf mode and the overall "warzone" feeling of the game, with these open spaces and enemies hidden all around. And, better than rainbow six, you can save every time, everywhere. I really like this :-) If you like RS, chanches are that you'll like this too.

I actually liked RS on the xbox, but GR2 is killed by framerate, and that horrid over the shoulder thing. Why the frick couldn't they just put in a normal FPS view like the rainbow six xbox games have? I realize the 1st person view they went with for GR2 is a throwback to the old GR/RS PC days, but it sucked then, too.

Damnit.
