I loved Ghost of Tsushima... why am I not excited for Ghost of Yotei??

I mean, what is there to be excited about? They haven't shown shit. Many will change their minds soon. No gameplay or hype launch trailers, no hype.

Because marketing campaigns don't start until the game is almost out.
Erroneous, sir! Marketing campaign starts the second you announce the game. If you can't be bothered to show out enough to entice fans of the previous game more than 9 months in, don't bother, or get a flood of sentiment mirroring OP's.

I'm so over the girlboss era and honestly nothing about it so far has excited me and I can't stand the lead characters VA stupid activist non binary rainbow flag shagging weirdo, Give me Phantom Blade in October instead please...

Yeah, the actrice Suckerpunch chose is the clearest sign of where Ghost of Yotei is heading.

If only he was here to offer us neutral insight and defense to give this game a chance and not be judgmental before it's even out.

Is the witcher 4 woke now that geralt isn't the protagonist then? Is the tomb raider series woke because laura croft can manhandle men in the game? Nothing i've seem from ghost of yotei looks woke in the least and the protagonist looks like a normal samurai looking woman.
Get her fucking name right at least before trying to lecture him.

I'm sure we all have some open world fatigue and that can be tamped down by a new series as you'll generally get to see a new setting or studio's take on that setting and how that developer uses common open world practices as well as any new spins they add to freshen up those tropes.

its the same for me. I loved Ghost of Tsushima. But lets be real, this is 5 or 6 years ago. We've been bombarded with mediocre slop since, like Ragnarok, Spider Man 2 and Horizon 2. I've been burnt out with Sony's open world games for a good while.

I do anticipate Death Stranding 2 for example. That game was different. And Kojima always has some awkward 4th wall shit in his games.

Because they have mostly relied on the fact that it is from the creators of ghost of tsushima for the marketing of the game. I would say that that creates interest but with a new main character, and trailers that have been mediocre it kills excitement for the game. Maybe with future trailers hype can be reinvigorated for the game.

Because its a copy pasta DLC feeling sequel like HFW, GOW Ragnorak, and Spiderman 2. They have not bothered updating the graphics or gameplay. Everything feels samey. You already spent 50 hours playing the first game, and needed something more to invest another 50 hours.

Back in the day, the games would be 8-10 hours long leaving you wanting more. The fatigue wouldnt set in until about the third game. Now the fatigue sets in half way through the first game.

Games that take 5 years to make should do a lot more to change up the formula. Had they gone to tokyo and made an infamous style urban open world game instead of yet another wilderness setting then maybe you wouldve been more excited.

Lastly, they removed the protagonist you spent 50 hours relating to, just for woke reasons because everyone must be a woman these days. Now you gotta start all over again like its a new IP.
Couldn't agree more with this post. If at least they presented a technical jump if nothing else, but after 5 years it looks like the same game with a woke twist. Sorry, best I can do is a sale buy when I will be bored. Or maybe they will surprise us and it will be a hit but I don't think so…

I think we are all tired of woke stuff and the fact that they went with that actress doesn't feel right.

To be honest when I saw the type of person she is it really killed my hype. This dont mean I won't play it but I cant deny it had an impact in my perception of the game as a whole

i'm into the setting but don't know what they could do to differentiate it much from the first one and the safe sony style marvel gurl boss writing is also very played out

Play ac shadows. You will be excited for goy

This had opposite effect on me, now I'm tired of samurai/ninja games.

AC Shadows have solid gameplay, story sucked ass but I don't expect much from GoY in this department.

People wanted Jin sequel and they came up with this...

It's a repetitive game, and piss easy (at least in hard mode). It's understandable after 50+ hours you don't want to do the same thing.

I'm sure it'll end up great but I really felt Tsushima did the samurai fantasy perfectly, I don't really want more. I was really hoping they'd take the engine and do an English Knight game or something similar. I'm sure Yotei is a safer bet commercially but GOT was basically the best assassins creed and I'd like more than just more GOT.

Is she like having some sort of seizure or something?

Apparently for physical copies there will be a steelbook and inside it will be scented like the voice actresses vagina every time you open the steelbook

Lowkey I wish SP went back to inFamous and made a real spectacle for the powers on modern HW

Speaking of, whatever happened to 'morality' systems? It was a huge thing during 7th gen but just kinda fizzled. I know some of them were pretty ham-fisted but I miss that kind of player choice and how it affected narrative, gameplay and the world/environment.

I'll say it. I'm burnt out on the setting and I don't want to play as some ugly bitch. If they made her hot and sexy, I might've given the game a second glance.

I'd be shocked if this game sells even close to GoT.

Parr of it is backlash against female protagonists but there is another reason.

I truly do believe that if TLOU2 never came out the first one would not be held such high regard. With a lack of a polarizing lightning rod there is nothing for it to play against.

To be fair, they haven't really shown all that much of the game. But I am also not really excited about it. So far, it seems like it's the same game but "bigger and better" with the main gimmick being having a woman as a protagonist (I wonder if this has any gameplay implications, at least.)
I feel like this was planned as DLC and they just made it into a full game, with the justification being the size of the world.

And sometimes it's not activists doing anything, and people still find a reason to cry about DEI, LGBT, blah blah blah.
I think it's fair to acknowledge that over-saturation of this type of stuff in this industry and others has made people overly wary. It's not necessarily fair but it is understandable. Sometimes people cry 'woke' and it really isn't, but I'd say the assumption is more often on point than not, especially when you're looking at anything coming out of the US West Coast in the last ten years.

Also worth keeping in mind that these tiresome people are at least punching up: at corporations, multi million-dollar studios and well-paid executives with Bay Area condos and gold-plated health plans. The other side spend most of their time punching down on working-class Joes who work two jobs to keep roof over their heads and who don't want to come home and unwind with a movie or a video game and be repeatedly told they're literal Nazis because they like boobs.

I played GoT for the first time just a few months ago, so definitely need a break from fox chasing, haikus, gathering, and all that. Plus there are several other games that seem to cover a lot of the same themes/visual aesthetics, and you have stuff like Blue Eyed Samurai which also seems to be very similar. Too much of a good thing.

Suckerpunch should have gone for a radically different time period or country. The vast majority of all Assassin's Creed games are set in entirely different historical settings to keep things fresh. Ghost of Yotei looks far too much like Ghosts of Tsishima from what we've seen so far.

The sidequest with a bunch of one on one fights with the straw hats was the best part of that game to me. And all it did was make me want a new Bushido Blade 😕

I think the only Sony exclusive I'm looking forward to is Stellar Blade 2. I'd be most interested in this sequel if it had Jin in it. But as was already said, Sony has had a pattern of shit sequels this gen.
