Yeah, I just installed XP a few hours ago and updating as many things as I can. Thanks again, guys!

EDIT: I did give the catalyst provided at AMD a go. Installmanagerapp.exejust... operates in background and doesn't do jackshit! Fucking installmanagerapp.exe >:|
You could be nice and link them. (Unless they are the GB leaked or 1 enxpress user)Mr_Brit said:Looking at some preliminary GTX 460 768MB benches and they're looking fantastic, just imagine how much better the 1GB card is going to be.

1GB won't preform noticeably better in most cases.

86.4GB/s -> Healthy memory overclock brings that to 105
115.2GB/s -> ~140? (Speculating)

Clock like mad.
Well there is a 5830 on newegg for $180 AR. Hopefully all prices across fall though.Mr_Brit said:Can't wait for some professional benches of the 1GB version with OC. ATI are finally going to have to lower the price of the 5850 in response. Another thing is that performance should increase a lot in time with more mature drivers as the GTX460 uses the new GF104 core unlike the GF100 core used by the other 400 series cards so will need new drivers to take advantage of it.
$220 and $230 currently.brain_stew said:I can't rightfully recommend any one a card with less than 1GB of VRAM these days. So yes, that's the card to watch, wonder where pricing comes in at.
Outside of the weird ass way GTA4 uses it I have yet to have a problem with the 756 or whatever my 260 has, maybe in a year or so it will be in the waybrain_stew said:I can't rightfully recommend any one a card with less than 1GB of VRAM these days. Also get a normal clocked 1GB for $25 less. Takes 2 clicks and 1 drag to overclock.
I'd personally wait for an eVGA or XFX model to appear. Should be very soon.
Does the PSU meet the "requirements" of the card. I am pretty choked right now that EVGA told me to test my card on a bigger PSU.brain_stew said:The included PSU will be fine.
Gainward has the best GPU graphics on their cards. So good.brain_stew said:Palit are fine, same company as Gainward and my last two cards came from them, I can have no complaints. Get the cheaper one though, yeah as it is literally the same product.
A 2 year warranty is more than enough for a GPU in my book, it'll probably be nearly worthless after that period anyway.

Yeah. I love OCZ as a company and their innovation, but I've always shied away from their RAM :lol (Separate from the great Ballistix fiasco of course)brain_stew said:I wouldn't recommend Crucial Ballistix RAM personally, I know its probably fine these days but there were so many horror stories back in the day. G. Skill are probably your best bet these days.
I'll know when reviews of the 64GB come out, but it should be similar to the larger capacity versions.Salaadin said:Someone in here mentioned the Crucial C300 64GB SSD as another one to watch out for other than than Intel X25M 80GB.
What would the pros/cons be of choosing one over the other?
Also, when buying an SSD for a desktop PC, is there anything else I need or is it as simple as installing a regular HDD?
Yup! http://hwbot.org/Minsc said:Did anyone else catch the story about the i7 980X (12 core CPU) overclocked to over 7GHz a few days ago? God damn. That thing would be a monster.

It's good for a fermi card. It is easily the best buy you can make right now, you definetely won't be disappointed.kagete said:Ooh looks interesting! And the 460 is now listed in newegg and amazon to boot!
I hope the prices go down as I need the best $300 single graphics card for my mATX build. Is 72 degrees C at load with stock frequencies good or bad?
Hazaro said:I'll know when reviews of the 64GB come out, but it should be similar to the larger capacity versions.
iirc the C300 has ridiculous read speeds, but more importantly slots in right now at the $150 point for 64GB making it better GB value than the 40GB V, and a bit cheaper than the Intel 80GB.

kagete said:Hmm I don't lean particularly towards nvidia or ati though my last 2 cards have been a desktop 4850 and laptop 5650 (both GAF recommendations for my budget at the time). Right now I can afford a 5850 at its current prices so would the gtx460 still represent a good value @ $200-230 compared to a $300 5850?

Amneisac said:Right now I'm just hoping this drops the price of the 5850 and maybe even the 5870. I've been really happy with ATI cards lately and I'd kind of like to be in the slightly higher performance area than the GTX460. I was really hoping to get a 5870 and if the prices of cards in this range: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161329
could get close to $300 I'd be all over it.
kagete said:Goddamnit that's real low for 5870! It's within my budget but I already have a matx case and 500w power supply waiting... so tempting though
In the past ES's have clocked worse then retail.Mystery said:He's using an Engineering Sample, with a default clock speed of 2.4 Ghz. I wonder if those overclock better, because I've had some stability issues getting my 980x to 5 Ghz, even with 1.5v on the vcore.
Just screw it in + plug in SATA data and power cables.Salaadin said:What do I need to get a 2.5in SDD into a desktop with only 3.5in bays in it? I see adapters online but am unsure if they will work.
WOuld this be enough?

I'm actually putting together a solid little dual core build for my mom that I plan on using a 212+ in and overclocking. I have an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 and OCZ Vendetta lying around that would be up to the job, but I'm bored, the 212 is just $20 and I want to see how cold and quiet I can get everything to run.MidgarBlowedUp said:I have this on my quad and didn't realize how well it worked until I got a good case. Yeah, you'll need to start over.leroidys said:OK, I checked and the PSU is actually this one

Yeah, I just wasn't sure if he was intending to fill it up, with it being his only HDD.Hazaro said:1.5TB>1TB?

Anyone see any reason not to, or do you think it will have problems working with an EarthWatts 500w only running 1 gpu, 1 hdd and an i5-750?
kagete said:You know the drill about PSUs (after everyone argued about it the last page). If you have a decent branded one (especially the 80 plus bronze, gold stuff) then it shouldn't be a problem. Earthwatts is Antec right?
Personally, i'm also torn about ordering that 5870...
