BIOS is probably running RAM training for the secondary and tertiary timings.
It doesnt indicate stability, you should run a stress test like HCI memtest or Prime95 blend to determine if its actually stable.

Thank you! I've been running Memtest for about half an hour with no error so far.

So the longer POST is fine?

This is going to be the most shameful, candy ass question you guys have seen, but is there a place where I can buy the parts and then pay a small fee to have someone else put it together?

I'm not sure if I want to deal with the hassle, however minor it may be.

Gets asked all the time. Ncix will do it if you buy all the parts there.

It's your lucky day. AMD just released the 480 which performs basically on par with the 970 for $200.

Or you can wait a couple weeks and see what happens with the 1060 in supposedly a similar price point.

960 was never a good buy. Performed on par with a 670 but the 670 was easy to find for $100-125 used.

480 is more like 280 euros here : /

Going to buy a 1070 GTX as they become available so I want to buy a new monitor in a week or two. I want to make the switch from my TV, that also is used for my PS4, to a 1440p monitor that has a 144Hz refresh rate.

So my question is, what would be a good monitor that has a native resolution of 1440p and that runs at 144hz that could also be hooked up to my PS4?

Alright so now that I have my 2nd monitor, is there a way to have the display settings look more similar? Theyre two different monitors.

EDIT: How to I get my games to run on my 2nd (bigger) monitor? I've set it as the primary and moved the taskbar over, but my games still start on the smaller monitor.

Yeah, the page is still there on Silverstone's site.

But even going to newegg's US site the SG10 page seems to be gone: "We have found 0 active items that match "silverstone sg10b". The results below are deactivated items related to the keyword." shows a result below for the SG10B but clicking it takes you to the SG05.

Anyone recommend an alternative to the SG10? Looking for a compact as possible mATX case.

How do I wipe my entire HDD? I tried to extend drive the system reserves so that they will go together with the main drives but they can't. I got an SSD and transferred all important files there and I want my old HDD to become just a storage for media, and other games.

I'm currently using an Acer XB271HU and it works fine with my PS4. It has this weird flicker on the main screen if you scroll thru the tiles too quickly but hasn't happened in any of the games yet.

The Temjin TJ08 might work. It's 30L, but it looks really nice. What are your size constraints?

Looking for something I can fit in a carrying bag I have. Probably within 360mm for height and depth, and 230mm for width. I don't think there's much out there besides the SG09/10 and some cases like the Jonsbo with terrible airflow. Do not want PSU over CPU.

I actually have an old HP case of similar size to the TJ08, and its just a touch too big.

So all of a sudden I no longer have the option to enable sli in the nvidia control panel. Nothing has changed, and both show they're working fine.

Any idea what's going on?

How do I enable gsync? When I got the monitor 3 weeks ago I got it to work right out of the box by enabling it through the nvidia control panel. I played witcher 3 and every game fine, but now nothing works, witcher 3 is tearing like crazy. The nvidia control panel says its on, and if I go to vsync global settings gsync is not a option.

Just ordered a NZXT H440. Been looking at this case for a while now, and a close friend just got one and i went to check it out and it's absolutely beautiful, extremely clean, quiet and has more than adequate airflow. I decided to get all black.

Also did something stupid, decided to get a 1080..... when I already have a 980ti. I know it's not worth it but I couldn't resist it, the upgrade itch is definitely real.

Maybe try switching to borderless+fullscreen or only fullscreen (depending on what your preference is), hit apply and switch back and apply. I found this needs to be done after every driver update for me. Not too much of a hassle but something to think about.

Did you set the load line calibration? Level 5 works good on Asus.
Also you set the Vcore manually? As in Manual and not Auto/offset/adaptive.

Yep setting the vcore manually. Changing the load line calibration to 5 seems to work! Cheers! I had tried setting it to level 8 for a minimal vdroop but apparently that's not how it works. All good now though so that's all that matters :)

Now to play around with adaptive voltage and make sure everything is stable.

Hi all. I'm after some monitor help.
I'm after a 24" to 25" 1440p monitor (two actually)
After much research I think my choices are down to

BenQ BL2420PT - http://www.benq.com.au/product/monitor/bl2420pt-/
or
Dell U2515H - http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=dhs&cs=audhs1&sku=391-BBZI

Does anyone have any thoughts on these. I do play some games, nothing too fast though, and just general internet browsing and writing.

Or if anyone else has some suggestions for my requirements I'm all ears. It seems most like 1440p monitors at 27" and above but I think everything would appear "too big" at that size.
At the moment I've got 2 x Benq XL2430T's and their max is 1080p and are 24". I find the PPI is wrong - everything appears too big

Does XMP-profile actually overclock CPU also?

When I enabled it, it overclocked my ram accordingly from 2133 MHz to 3200 MHz, but also my CPU core frequency seemed to go up from 3.5 GHz to 3,9 GHz

I have i5 6600K and Z170M-PLUS motherboard.

No. 3.9 Ghz is the CPU boost clock. It's always like that.

Seems my GPU Overclock is not stable enough for... Powerpoint.
Literally had my first ever driver crash since I found my 'stable' clock a few months ago when I just started a fullscreen presentation lmao

That's Overdrive. Look in your monitor's settings and it turn it to low or off.

Still waiting to buy a non founders edition 1070 in Canada...any word on when they will be properly stocked?

Edit: NCIX shows stock for Gigabyte 1070's ordered one of those.

Having seemingly long load times in the witcher 3 on my 1tb 850 evo SSd. Initial load is like 20 seconds. It usually finishes loading right after the load screen dialogue completes.

When I run the game, Hw monitor shows ssd read speed at around 120mb/s. Is this normal? Samsung magician shows my read and write at 500+MB/s

Basically try switching anything that gives you a prompt to keep it that way. I used monitor Htz. It's strange but everything stays in gsync now.

Alright, I've messed with this for days to no avail.

For whatever reason, Windows 10 seemingly keeps on removing my AMD settings. Like, completely. I'll update the driver, restart, have the newest version and then moments later, it's all gone. Shortcuts don't work, simply have no access to my settings. The AMD settings icon (bunch of small red colored dots) are not to be found in my taskbar or start menu. I have no idea why this is happening, I've turned off automatic updates, etc.

If anyone has any information on this Greek tragedy, let me know. :p

Hey guys, I'm having some really bad overheating issues (90% sure this is the case) with my AMD r290x. I can't play games that I should be able to max out because the card just hits 88C and shuts off my monitor (while the cpu is still running). I've tried nearly everything to get that heat down, 100% fan speed, cleaning out the case, etc... nothing has worked.

So I want to replace this frustrating card with a card that can max out most current games and isn't a complete power sucker and heat volcano. Just want an efficient, solid card. My budget is $300, any recommendations?

edit: A lot of people have told me to wait a month or so and then look into the GTX 1060 and rx 480, think that's what I'll do. However, is there any merit in just buying a 970? Or just a waste of $$$ with these new cards coming out, some of them slated to be quite cheap?

Look at the RX480 benchmarks and compare to the 970. Pretty simple really. Personally if you're used to ATI then by all accounts the 480 is an excellent value for the mid range.

Do you have a reference 290?

If you're happy with the performance, you could just swap out the cooler with an after market one.

So asked for a rgb solution for my pc case. Like a good led strip. Someone suggested next hue+ but that's super pricey. Any other alternative??

The 290 shouldn't be shutting down at 88C... Mine pretty much stays around 92-94 under full load (Idles at 45). So that is an issue, so I would definitely look into replacing it. As others have said, the 480 is doing very well and the aftermarket cards should be in your sweet spot under $300. Other options include replacing the thermal paste on your card, which I did with mine to gain a degree or two, but again 88C is supposed to be normal operating temps for the 290, reference or not, so I think you might have something wrong.

Even if it was overheating, thermal throttling would be the actual response the card should have, not shutting down. :/

Amazon will have the Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI Motherboard in stock on July 8 at a price of $99.00.

I ordered the same motherboard from a respectable third party vendor on Amazon for $129 last week and it is arriving today. Contemplating returning it and purchasing from Amazon directly.

Hm. That apply only within the USA, or potentially elsewhere as well?

It's an exclusive for Amazon Prime members.

Update: Shipping will now take 1-2 months. Looks like a lot of people jumped onto it and is back ordered.

Looking to start my first ITX build but need suggestions on ITX cases that aren't a royal pain to build in and don't cost an arm and a leg!
Would like to put a single 1070 in it so that has to somehow fit; but I'd like to keep it as small as possible. Also I'm in the EU.

And what'd be an affordable ITX motherboard if I'm not looking to OC? 1151 socket.

EDIT: wow it's my first time being at the top of anything, HYPE.

I was wondeing if anyone can help me with a problem I'm running into. Over the weekend I upgraded to a I7 6770K cpu,Asus motherboard Z170-A and a new case. I took my existing SSD which contains the OS (Win 8.1) and 2 HDD's (one holds my games and the other is for music, video recordings etc.) The problem is that the drive that holds my games disappears after about 20 minutes from booting. It disappears from file explorer and from the disk management screen. The SSD and second HDD run fine. Hardware wise I replaced the Sata cables, changed the slots, and made sure the cable leading to the PSU is snapped in but the problem persists. In addition to downloading new drivers for the mobo. I'm thinking this may be a problem with the hard drive even though it ran flawlessly in the old build. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I recently connected an old 500GB internal HDD. Since then, my boot times are about twice as long, but that increased boot duration seems to be before windows starts to load. I'm also noticing now, from time to time, that when I open windows explorer, it'll hang for a moment and display a message that's something to the effect of "hang on a sec".

Is this extra HDD a dud, or anything I can do to troubleshoot this? Everything is otherwise working fine.

Check the boot order in your BIOS, and make sure your primary drive is listed first. It's probably looking for an OS on the 500 GB drive, wasting some time, then moving onto the next drive.
